And really, Just stop depressing people. Why are you being so negative all the time????

When you hang in here long enough, you will see the same post from these few people.

1. Dev-Team is god...you cannot blame them even if they're lying.

2. Gevey Sim is evil.

3. Go buy a new factory unlocked phone and they pretend that we can get that for about $640 but, in reality, we need to pay around $800 or higher.

The most we can get for our slightly used locked iPhone is around $400 so, we need to shell out $400 or more to get an unlocked version.

In my country they really don't care about such things so I am sure they'll never block IMEI or whatever cause they have no right to do that. My carrier can't know i got an iPhone or any other cell phone, They got about 4million subscribers so i'm sure they don't check each one... Also, on my Orange profile it just says i still got an old 3G cell phone and this profile wasn't made by me. It was made by Orange.

Sorry, Im not trying to depress anyone.
If you do get depressed by reality you should seek professional help.
All I was saying was that this method is not such a "gooddeal":D
What I said about having to hassle with this several times a day is because of what this adapter is, does and how it does it.
Its a very unreliable method, read and learn how it works.
Its not only if you restart the phone but also when the phone loses reception or moves to another PLMN.
So in other words you better have the Gevey sim with you at all times cause you never know when you will need to pop it back in and dial 112 and go thru the rest of the process.
But its you money, Im just letting you know that's all.

What are you talking about? You have to leave the gevey sim in the sim tray with your sim at all times, and you don't have to dial 112 when you lose signal only if your phone lose signal for an extended period of time. I don't know what you have against the gevey sim but stop posting false info. Like I said previously, this this the only way for us to unlock ATM.

Bro relax, I dont have nothing against any Gevey or turbo sim. Just posting a warning that's all.
Read again and learn how it works before you blow $70+ on it, you do have to dial 112.

"You then call 112, a number that can be called from any GSM phone, free of charge, with or without a SIM card on any compliant network. Once the call connects you hang up then toggle Airport mode on and off. When the network connection resumes you will be unlocked."

1. It works if A.your network handles 112 calls properly according to the GSM standard; B.they are tolerant to TSMI spoofing and does not actively validate your SIM again for incoming calls.

2. Unlike its ancestors, the i4 SIM interposer is not a drop-in-and-forget device. The exact precedure must be performed should the device restart, lose reception for an extended period of time or move to another PLMN. In all these situations the TMSI expires and has to be obtained again.

3. It is, without question, unethical or downright illegal to use the technique anywhere 112 is a legitmate emergency number.

4. All firmware/baseband combinations for the i4 up to iOS4.3 are vulnerable, however the exploit may be patched in any future software updates or via the carrier. If apple can influence providers to block Cydia it is not impossible for them to press them to fix the exploit. The only way to permanently unlock your baseband is NCK.

5. SIM interposer should not harm your phone hardware, however your network could request IMEI and identify your device during the emergency call. Your identity cannot be faked and it is possible that they will ban your account. There is a reason why SIM cards remain legally the property of the service provider: you are not supposed to tamper with them without breaching contract.

6. Notwithstanding all the problems, SIM interposer does not cause any battery drain since it is only active transiently, nor would it cause signal loss because it does not change cellular transmission other than the initial validation step.

Laforet concludes by saying that the $50 mod can be unreliable and is legally questionable. If you are desperate for an unlock it may be worth a try. Otherwise Laforet suggests you wait for the 40-bit NCK hack by the iPhone Dev-Team.

$75 may seem steep but remember a factory unlocked is being sold by the gougers for 2X what a typical locked AT&T model goes for, if not even slightly more. So $75 is pretty cheap compared to $450 (or more) extra to swap for a factory unlocked version.

I've used Gevey's in the past and they always work as promised. They're not perfect but they do work and they will be (currently) the ONLY way to "unlock" if you are stuck with the 2.10 or 3.10 basebands on iPhone 4. (It will not work on iOS 4.3 or with the new 4.10 baseband so you are SOL if you jumped on the bandwagon!)

Thank you for validating my post with that.
Re-read # 2 again.

Yes, those situation can happen though.
Just putting it out there, dont get so upset though. You act like you own the Gevey Sim company:)

Uhmm you're probably confused with another thing but I called the company and they said the Gevey SIM Must ALWAYS be inside the iPhone 4 together with the real SIM Card, I don't see how i have to take it anywhere and keep it safe, It's just inside the cell phone I don't care. Also, I've asked what happens if i lose signal in an underground places and they've said you'll have to repeat the 112 steps ONLY when you first insert it and when you do a restart to your iPhone. So if there's no signal you won't have to repeat the 112 and etc steps...
So yeah it seems toally fine to me. As i said before it's better than NOTHING.

Oh, I see.
I wasnt 100% exactly how it functioned, I thought you had to take it in and out etc....
Sounds like a good option to hold people off till the next unlock is out.
We'll know more details when it ships out and people start using it and put up real reviews on the usability.
But it is kinda steep IMO, hope more companies copy it and drop the price on it. $10-20 is decent, $75+ is up there.

Yeah they also said the price is high only because it's just the beginning and they currently can't provide it to everyone, At first the price was $50 on their website but then they changed it to $70 because so many people pre-order it and they didn't have enough stock.
I believe price will get lower in about a month.

Trust me,there's nothing to be upset about. It's just that with all your posts it seems like you have something against these gevey sim. Maybe because you were misinformed about how it works. And no I don't own the company but wish I am, I'll be loaded with all these people buying these.
Also this is the only alternative for us unlockers right now till the Dev- team comes out the the real unlock.

By the way, I'll be picking one up on Monday. I'll let you guys know how well it really works.

Apparently there are two unlock SIM out there, Gevey SIM and i-Smartsim (www.i-smartsim.com) ?

Yeah... Chats with chinese people are weird. I also had one of the Gevey Team Members on my Skype and their English is weird. Anyways since there are no updates about the i-SmartSim in your case just buy a Gevey SIM. It probably even can work on iOS 4.3

Just pick up the gevey sim today. So far so good. Setting up the phone is pretty easy, took about one minute. All I did was put it in together with my sim and there's a pop up showing me the instruction. Basically you have to dial 112 and hang up in two seconds. Turn on airplane mode and wait till it says no sim then turn off airplane mode and you're done.

Also if anyone in New York City you can pick one up from the place I bought it from. The guy's pretty cool. His address is 109 Lafayette st. and his phone # 917-337-9389

Yea, you'll love it. In the beginning I thought it would be complicated but actually it's very easy.
I'm on 4.1 modem firmware 2.10.04 was going to update to the latest firmware but kind of lazy right now.

Hehe I wouldn't update to 4.3 until someone tries it, it might not work. I'm too on 4.1 but I had a strange chat with a Chinese salesperson and he said that the Gevey sim wasn't working properly on 4.1, but clearly it works.

yea, I saw your post earlier. But it's working fine on 4.1. Actually it's working fine on 4.3 too cause before when I picked up the gevey sim, The guy was setting up for a whole bunch of peoples. they're on both 4.2 and 4.3 firmware.
