So the google editions of both devices are coming out tomorrow. Anyone planning on purchasing either of them? I'm hoping HTC releases a method to convert my dev edition version to a google edition version but we'll see.

They said they were looking into it, but if they don't you can guarantee the community will find a way....

Especially as we have S-Off and SuperCID there is no reason you couldn't s-off, superCID (or CID to the same number as the google edition) your phone and then flash the google rom and hey presto you'll be pretty much exactly the same as the google edition and should receive google updates exactly same way.

I really wonder how these will sell. I am tempted to buy one, but there are a lot of uncertainties. How will the cameras be, how long will they get support, will they get updates the same time as the nexus. Nexus like is pretty vague.

No need to spend that much. Just grab a regular device at a cheaper price and watch the XDA wizards port those google edition ROMs over to regular devices :)

Sorry! Devices on Google Play is not available in your country yet.
We're working to bring devices to more countries as quickly as possible.
Please check back again soon.

So couldn't verify if I wanted too :(

Way to go Google. You can use us as a tax haven but can't even give us access to google devices ... :(:(

haha. I don't see these things selling out. This may sound silly, but I will buy one only if they come in black. If it is just the silver HTC and white s4, i'll wait.

=/ i hope the n4 is not an indication

Shouldn't be because there is already a flowing pipeline for GS4's.

Software is the main difference and there is no reason why there should be massive shortages unless Samsung intentionally starved the supply chain which isn't remotely in their interest.

The bigger issue with the n4 was that everyone's orders were basically placed on back order no matter when you ordered. I got mine 5 days after ordering, but I had no idea if it was coming or not and google could not tell me anything. It was mainly a logistic issue on google's part. If something sells out, that is fine but be able to tell me so.

My status on their website showed something along the lines of being back ordered and it was sitting an my doorstep

Just think what a company like Apple/Google with their software and tech could do combined with the logistical prowess of an Amazon......

Not to say Apple generally has any trouble. They are pretty good about sorting out orders - even with selling 5+ million in a weekend. But Amazon is incredible with its order system.

If I could get my Apple stuff (or Google if you like) through Amazon Prime, that'd be a dream.

I totally agree. Amazon is phenomenal. Order something by 6:00 pm and it is at your door the next day using prime free shipping (for the most part...sometimes it takes 2 days :)
