and it looks like 4.3 is being rolled out to these devices starting today (or yesterday). it's honestly a lot better than I was expecting and gives me hope for these google play devices.

9 days update turnaround from release is impressive.

I'm now considering getting a HTC One and converting it to a Google Play edition device.

I'm impressed.

Yep HTC One converts (from Sense to Stock) are receiving the OTA assuming they converted fully which is great news.

Now to find out if those who flashed stock 4.2.2 on S4 are getting it OTA... ?

I've been reading into it and because of some partition differences, it seems you can't fully convert an i9505 into a i9505g for OTA updates (yet).

This does put the one ahead when considering the two for me.

I may be wrong though.

Let's see in November how long they take with a big update (Android 5.0). I bet it won't be just one or two weeks. 4.3 is not that big of an update.

I still don't trust Samsung and HTC enough.

Yeah it looks like you will have to flash the rom each time an update comes out for the S4 which is a bit of a pain in the bum, but better than nothing :)

It's really not a pain at all IMO but I've been doing it for a while so I guess I'm used to it :p

Yeah but I'd rather do it once and then
images

:p

But yeah flashing on the S4 is easy enough anyway.

Even so. Look how much sooner they are getting 4.3 compared to carrier phones. The HTC probably won't even see 4.3. Granted it may not be needed they will probably jump straight to KLP 6 months after release. Id take GPE any day.
