What rock have you been living under? The current rumours suggest it'll be based on the upcoming and already leaked LG Optimus G2 and will be released in October.

I really wish Google would start designing and making their own (Nexus) products. We've seen what they can do with the Chromebook Pixel (with the exception of pricing...) and I would love to see what a phone and tablet fully designed by them would look like.

The Chromebook Pixel, the Nexus Q, and Google Glass. Seeing a pattern yet?

Laptop, media device, then "smartglasses"...nope, no pattern.
I'm talking about the Nexus phones and tablets. All four Nexus phones and three Nexus tablets have been outsourced to other companies and it doesn't seem like that's changing anytime soon.

The point is that Google's own hardware has historically been overpriced, and usually not too well received. I'm not sure I'd want to see a phone Google developed, and I definitely don't think I'd want to pay for it.

I really want them to sell GE devices internationally. Do that I won't even care if there's no new Nexus phone. Just let me buy a GS4 GE!

That would be really cool news if they announced international availability.

The three products you named were all released within the past year and two of them aren't even meant for the mass market (Chromebook Pixel and EXPLORER Glass) while the other (Nexus Q, which ended up being free) was never actually released.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "not well received." The Chromebook Pixel was praised for its design and hardware, it's Chrome OS people don't seem to understand or like. Google Glass has been well received also by most "Explorers." The only product that was really criticized was the Nexus Q which never made it to market. Their hardware is beautiful and that's why I'd like to see them develop a phone.

If Google were to design, build and release their own Nexus phone, it wouldn't cost more than any other off-contract flagship these days (~$600).

Its rather sad and annoying that a company with its HQ in Ireland doesn't sell them internationally.

Seriously sometimes you want to give google a slap....

Coming from a Nexus 4, this would be greatly appreciated.

Seriously. That would make this nexus 4 last a lot longer in my eyes. I will say it is not surprising to hear that. Just look at what custom kernals can do. Franco doubled my screen time versus stock. On stock I see (not really since there is no %!!!) The battery drain by the minute when the screen is on.

I'm hoping that in addition to the Nexus 7 update, Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean), and new levels of voice-search integration for Chrome and Google Now, that there'll also be some news about updated Chromebooks (Asus, perhaps?) and an update for the Chrome OS.

Custom kernels never did too much for me. I am a heavy user, and custom kernels don't do much for heavy users. But it did help with idle usage.
