to my knowledge DNLA is only for things stored locally on the device meaning apps do not work.

That is how I feel. If it really is that easy for devs to add the feature, we should see a ton of apps adding it. Oh, and what is up with the ridiculous shipping methods...5-10 days, 3-5 days, 2 days.....what happened to just the standard 2-5 they use to include for $3.99

Yeah I found that odd too.

So we can bet on Android 5.0 in October along the new Nexus 5 right? Seems obvious they are reserving all the new features for 5.0.

They need to release another update this year. 4.3 only in 2013 would be disappointing.

I don't see the point in Chromecast if it doesn't allow for screen mirroring to see the phone or tablet desktop in the TV for any app or games.

I would hope it comes with the nexus 5. Talk about putting manufactures way behind. They are just getting 4.2.2...now will have to get 4.3 and then KLP if it is released in OCT/NOV

Chromecast is on amazon now. Just ordered through prime.

Thanks. Going to cancel my Play Store order as ordering from Amazon saves me shipping and tax. By the looks of it, I will likely receive it sooner from Amazon as well.

It won't let me cancel the play store order :(

I called and they said I can refuse delivery...I won't be home most likely so will have to return it when it comes. Returns through Google take over a month grrr

hhhhhmmmmmmmm...

Just dip a wipe and installed 4.3 on my Nexus 10. It seems... so fast :D:D like more fast than 4.2.2. Its like project butter 2.0 :D:D

Maybe its that touch responsiveness improvement rumored in the Nexus 4, which also gets the Nexus 10. And I bet Im not hallucinating :rolleyes:

Im very happy right now.

well to be fair if you look at 4.1 to 4.2 it was pretty clear 4.2 was pretty much just an update for nexus devices. 4.3 seems to be a lot like that again. Adding long over due bluetooth 4.0 support into android.

Very true. But for people with a phone already on a carrier can you skip 4.3 and go straight to KLP?

Yeah only give you 1 hour to cancel. You can leave a note for UPS and say refuse deliver return to sender. That is what I did yesterday for the Nexus 4. Worked like a charm.

Yeah I did the 5-10 day shipping on the play store order. I'll probably keep a second one and put it at the girlfriends house.

Yeah, had the same problem. A few extra $ isn't worth the hassle so I'm just keeping the Play store order and skipping ordering through Amazon. No biggie.

I know from my experience with my iPad mini & Nexus 7, the narrower width of the Nexus makes a huge difference in comfort when holding it in one hand, while using the other for swiping.

The Nexus 7 2 is 6mm narrower. That makes it a full 20 mm less that the iPad mini. It's surprising just how dramatic this is and how it makes holding it a completely stress free experience. And I have large hands. I can only imagine how awkward holding a mini would be if my hands were small.

It's little things like this, which make my mini a secondary device amongst my tablets. With it's new high resolution display & other improvements, this second gen Nexus 7 is a true winner.

Seriously. Within a few hours, I feel out of the loop!

Finally caught up a bit. Chromecast sounds cool. What a great entry price, too. I'll hold off though.

I ordered one from Amazon. My wife will be around a BBY on Friday, so I'll get her to check there and cancel on Amazon if necessary.

So it looks like the tab cast does not work with tablets. It also only works for the chrome book pixel and the Samsung chrome book is coming soon. When it does get added it will be standard definition only. https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/3209990?hl=en&ref_topic=3210038

The no tablet support hurts. That alone makes it a far cry from appletv or at least until the app support comes.

I was a bit miffed when they only announced compatibility with the pixel, but good to see that the Samsung chromebook should be supported soon. So if it ever comes to the UK I shall get one.
