Not a chance. The S4 is immensely popular but I would guess a HUGE majority of the sales are at a subsidized price. Tech geeks are drooling over the Google edition S4 and that's it, a very small niche. Regular consumers like have no clue as to the difference between stock Android and TouchWiz skinned Android and will in no way flock to pay $650 vs. the $99 and $199 that can pay via carrier subsidies.

Just watch my friend.I paid 600 for my galaxy nexus so I wouldn't lose my unlimited data plan and a crap load of people are buying the reg gs4 full retail to not lose there grandfathered data plans.

The only cheap nexus device was the nexus 4 and the others were just as expensive

You're on Verizon then correct? You are aware this phone will not function on Verizon? Your supposed huge group of potential customer are going to be sorely disappointed when they try to use this phone on Verizon.

he wasn't saying he was going to buy the s4 on the google play store. his point was that price alone wasn't going to stop people from buying it. and as an example, he pointed to his purchase of a full-priced galaxy nexus and galaxy s4 (both made for verizon) so that he could keep his precious unlimited verizon data.

Exactly and you will be able to get the Google gs4 on Verizon its just not officially supported because its a CDMA network but the hardware is the same.all you need to do is flash the Verizon modems on the Google gs4 and since it comes unlocked it will be cake.

The nexus 4 also supports lte and people have it working just fine on lte,its not supported but the s4 chip set has lte bands built in.

How much you wanna bet that the Google gs4 blows the living crap out of the nexus 4 sales? What did lg sell so far?like 500k phones? Google will sell a million phones in the first hour they go on sale

What are you smoking ?

The Nexus 4 is the best selling Nexus phone ever, with over a million sold already. No way a new Google phone at twice the price, but somewhat similar specs and the same OS sells that many by the time the Nexus-Five comes out in 5 months.

The GE S4 is a niche product, for the [H]ardcore needs, not the general public. I am curious how many will even be made ? This is a low volume product.

Lol OK bud,if you think so

Here is a nexus 4 connecting to an lte mb network with a simple change in the hidden menu in the phone info section.

You vsn take a Verizon gs3 and flash it into a t mobile so why couldn't you take a t mobile phone and make it work on Verizon?

No way is this Google Edition S4 going to work on Verizon, and Sprint, not gonna happen. Time to leave CDMA carriers already anyways.

Some Verizon phones can also work on T-Mobile, due to some Verizon phones being "world" phones with a GSM radio inside, besides the CDMA radio already. And T-Mobile is GSM

But no T-Mobile phone will ever have CDMA radios in it, never. Plus their LTE radio is also a different frequency I believe ?

Bud, you need to do a little more research before spouting off. Yes, the Nexus 4 has some LTE hardware that is not natively activated and as the description on the video indicates, it works with only specific LTE bands (i.e. AT&T not being compatible). No matter what modem firmware you flash, nothing will make it work on an LTE band its hardware doesn't support.

Same thing goes for the Google edition S4. It does not have the necessary CDMA hardware to work on Verizon so no matter what you flash on it, it's not going to work with Verizon's CDMA network. It may be compatible with Verizon's LTE bands (no idea as I don't use Verizon and have no specific familiarity with their network frequencies) but it still needs CDMA as I don't think Verizon has voice over LTE yet (in fact, don't think anyone does).

Exactly, the ONLY reason they're paying full price is to maintain they're unlimited data. If they could upgrade without losing it, how many would have still chosen to pay full retail?

And as Verizon customer's cannot use this phone anyways, this entire sample of customer who are willing to pay full retail (i.e. the $650 the S4 Google edition costs) are irrelevant. The remaining 3 major US carriers all offer subsidized versions of the S4 and don't require full retail to maintain grandfathered data plans so, again, this entire example is irrelevant.

The plain and simple truth here is that there is no way a million Google edition S4 will be sold in the first hour they are on sale, regardless of any sample of customer he'd like to reference. Most people don't care about stock Android, or even have a clue it's different than what's on their phone.

Lol, no they wont. There aren't going to be millions wanting to pay $649 up front. Id agree if it were $349 like the Nexus, but it isnt.

Every single galaxy s4 with the snapdragon soc have the same exact chip that also includes the Qualcomm modem in it,they ALL have support for every carrier and its the firmware and modem firmware that tells the device what to support.

Once you FLASH the Verizon modem firmware on the UNLOCKED s4 you will be able to unlock Verizon bands.

I find it funny how some of you that never even rooted an android phone think you can't do this.

Its the same exact hardware people!

Lol, you are off base. The hardware is actually different (Verizon: SCH-I545, AT&T: SGH-I337, and T-Mobile: SGH-M919. Like the iPhone 5, only the CDMA version has the dual GSM/CDMA chipset.

I would be willing to bet a lot that it does not sell as well. You are talking about a niche market and adding a $650 price point on top of it....and it is only in the US.

Omg that's the model numbers between carriers the soc(system on chip) is the same chip on all the snapdragon galaxy s4 and they all have the same exact modem chip built into the CPU chip.

There is no different soc for the Verizon gs4 Google just won't support a locked down CDMA standard and is the reason Google officially does not support Verizon.

The FCC forced Verizon to be open with there lte network and is the reason they finally added sim cards but the hardware across all snapdragon s4 are all 100% the same and will all support what ever network there modem firmwares are made to run

EDIT: Never mind. I figured it out. If you check the conversation box and hit the trash can icon, you can delete individual convos. If you go into the convo and hit "Delete Hangout History" it permanently deletes ALL your conversation with that person. Kind of dumb that's not clearer. Or I'm dumb. Whichever.

Wait a second... if you delete a Hangout conversation in Gmail, it deletes ALL your conversations with that person?

Am I understanding this correctly? Because I went to delete a chat I was having with a friend, then I noticed ALL my chats with him are gone now.

If this is accurate, this is a SERIOUS drawback of Hangouts. And it's permanent, too. Big mistake, Google.

Someone please correct me or enlighten me...
