I've seen a 64gb 4 XL, open but not used from a regular phone seller on eBay for £470. Very tempted at that price. Same guy is selling the same in 128gb for £650. Not a terrible price, but not quite the bargain of the 64gb.
You can pretty much find a mint for $500-$550 on Swappa now too

Pixel 4 still king of night mode. Looking forward to what the Pixel 5 brings.

I'd say the king of point and shoot cameras in general. I think you have to put it in its own class. Where other phones with a lot of camera gimmicks are in more of a different class.

Seems like Google has this Easter chocolate for 300 eggs off today... XL at 699! (Edit: for the 128gb model) (Probably should have launched at that price).

I wonder why... 🤔 Don't suppose the 4a launch is around the corner... Or the OnePlus 8 announcement shortly.

I'm actually tempted. No more pumpkin spice color however.

The P4XL is $599 not $699 :)

So, how much of an improvement is the XL 4 over the massive disappointment that was the 3? On that note, I've noticed after the recent updates on my 3a it's starting to pick up in terms of stuttering much like it's bigger sibling did 😫 😖

My XL 2 seems to be going decent but will see about that when I get around to it's maintenance 😬

I've thought about shoving LineageOS on either the 2 or 3a and pop Android 11 beta on the other

Blah, the thing is sitting in my cart right now, thumb hovering a few mm over the confirm button... 😖

I don't *need* another phone... An update from the 2 would be nice. However it still works... The camera upgrade would be nice.. 🤔 I think this thing would go on my fi line.

I haven't been going through devices as much as I used to. Of course devices haven't been what they used to be either

Is the $699 excluding taxes? The 128gb is on sale with Google and other retailers in the UK, but £760. Which is a bit too much to justify.

Aw 🤬

Really hope this is an upgrade and not an interest losing drawer filler like a couple of my last buys where. And not a 6p or 3 XL level heap of disappointment...

Well, my Pixel 3 XL just **** the bed on me (swollen battery) so I pulled the trigger on this deal too ($699 for 128GB 4 XL). For a brief second I thought about trying something different and getting the Galaxy S20 Plus for $999 ($200 off at Best Buy right now) but ultimately, I’m a Pixel guy and don’t see the value in an extra $300 for the S20 Plus.

Should arrive late this week or early next week.

Also a question. I’m not comfortable keeping the swollen Pixel in the house but it’s too late to take it anywhere for safe disposal tonight. Any recommendations for how to store this thing until I can hopefully find a recycler that’s open and accepting tomorrow?

Probably a used metal coffee can or old pot you don't want anymore. Just in case it pops. Wouldn't want battery chemistry anywhere near food prep.

Reports today say that Google are developing their own chipset for the 2021 Pixel. They are clearly going for the Apple model. Knowing Google's track record with hardware, especially early on, that could be a real problem for the first few years.

Can anyone say if that $699 price is with or without tax?

Yeah, as @jamezr mentioned, before any applicable sales tax here in the States—depends on each individual state, and sometimes on the individual county. Here in Florida, my home county has 7% sales tax but the county I’m right next door to and work in is 8.5%. Around the US it ranges from 10.25% in Chicago to 0% in a handful of states. It‘s stupid and pretty annoying, IMO.

Agreed. Google’s hardware chops are average at best. It could be years before we see reliable performance even close to what’s currently available in the market.

That being said, I’m not a big fan of Qualcomm‘s business practices and their somewhat stranglehold on this aspect of the industry, so welcome the competition.

Wonder what they could do with their own custom silicone? Maybe lower prices since they wouldn't have to pay licenses to Qualcomm? Nor need to play by their rules or restrictions?

Tailor their custom chips for better AI performance?

Maybe that would be a great time release their first Pixel with Fuchsia? Hmmmm hardware designed just for the new mobile OS...might be a very good thing....
