The online theory is that Google has a few different versions of the front floating around so they don't even know yet. There's the hole punch cutout and then the models with the small chin that I've seen. I think I'd prefer the small chin (as long as it's pretty small).

I've seen that as well (that up to 3 design teams are working on how it will look). Buy why would they release this photo if they haven't already chosen which one?

Knowing Google they will decide to use the worst possible design for the front. Really hoping for no cut out / notch of any kind and totally OK with some bezels if needed.

maybe they want to see public reaction to different versions?

Could be! Although if they’re to release further pics of possible designs at a later date, my hope for an earlier than October release decreases!

Guys, the lead time necessary to put a phone like this into production is likely already past. Google would have had to finalize design already if they hope to have them in production for sale in October. Probably why Google all but rubber stamped those photos on their tweet—it’s a done deal.

IIRC, we were seeing all those leaked units for the 3/3XL about this time last year too, no?

If that's true sad to see the great speakers go away but prefer the bigger screen form factor.

Seems like there could still be room by the looks.

Not liking that forehead when the control panel is pulled down however.

Something I came across today, talking about the square rear camera amongst other things.
https://www.phonearena.com/news/Google-Pixel-4-automatic-white-balance-true-tone_id116769

They have me anxious about the "forehead", I hope whatever they choose that it is tastefully done.

From this leak there doesn't seem to be a forehead, but perhaps it is covered by the case intended not to give away the full design!?

Owning my Xs Max, gives me the luxury to sit back and enjoy the phones being released in the second half of 2019 without feeling pressured to act. The Pixel 4 has me VERY EXCITED and is arguably my favorite Android phone (between them and One Plus).

Too, I love the innovating that Google is doing with each iteration of Pixel, even if it is fueled in part by lackluster sales. I'm definitely pulling for them as competition is good for everyone!!! Exciting times indeed...

Still can't believe they confirmed a "rumor" that is BOSS!!!

Something tells me they will be releasing the new Pixels earlier than normal this year. No way they leak the back design and then wait 4+ months to release right?

I agree and have long argued that October is too late in the year to be taken seriously.

Well apparently, they've at least chosen the back.

Was really hoping they’d do away with that bezel, since their Face ID isn’t as secure anyway - no need for all that tech up front. In that respect it’s disappointing that Google are still stuck in the past with hardware design.

But the larger, flat screen with boosted specs, just puts it ahead of the S10’s...we’ll see.

You missed it. People have no concept of time.

If Google and Apple are both leaking unreleased designs which happen to be similar, we can't reasonably define which one ripped off which.
Not a even that, the Mate 20 has the same camera design...but nope Apple didnt copy the Mate 20. Or if they did, they made it better, not half baked. The made the square, 'squarer' which is much better than the Mate 20.

I could work with this....
Wonder how the white would look with a black camera cutout?

Only we don't know what features the 4 will bring. So can't judge yet if a larger bezel is for face id or not and if it's secure enough or not .

While the back of a phone including the shape of the camera module will never be a deal breaker for me, I'll be sad if Google does away with the two tone/matte-glossy design they've been using for the Pixels. A simple, elegant touch which makes their phones immediately identifiable at least from the back, as well as via the tactile experience of the user. Just the kind of thing you want for making a product stand out. And it definitely didn't feel old yet, at least not to me.

Unless they’re saving the finishing touches for the final reveal, I will be very disappointed if they do away with the two-tone back design. It is my favorite hardware aspect of Pixels and it makes the phone much more pleasant to hold. IMO, the Pixel 3 and the 3 XL have the most elegant back design in comparison to all other phones.

Agreed.....not a really a fan of the square cut out in any phone to be honest. Rather the camera lenses were in a row of some sort.
On my white P3 XL you can hardly tell the color difference in the 2 tones from the top to the bottom though.
I am more excited to see what Google does with the 3 camera lenses! I mean they have done some amazing things with just one lens so far!

Yep. One area where Samsung absolutely nails it is their camera design on the back.

I don't have any inside information, but I would venture to guess Apple in particular is going with the square because of the constraint of the space the cameras have in the device.

A stoplight orientation would interfere with something like the battery and a horizontal orientation would interfere with the FaceID hardware.

I don't care for the square camera bump at all.

There are only 2 cameras in that square yet the square looks huge. I understand there are other things inside it but it also looks like a ton of wasted space with these camera boxes on the pixel leak and iPhones.

Don't like it at all.

I prefer the vertical orientation of phone cameras like the current iPhone line and OP7 to name a few.

I actually like the back! I think it looks pretty elegant and if they do a solid black back with a white power button, then that is awesome. '

I'm thinking they can't do the hole punchout design that was leaked since that would put the front and rear cameras on the same side of the phone. Probably not enough room for that on the inside.
[doublepost=1560431057][/doublepost]I feel the same way about the camera cutout as I have on all other camera cutouts, I don't care. I remember when the vertical cameras got leaked and everyone said how ugly it was and now people love it.
