The leaked device is really ugly, but again, I don't really care what the back looks like for the most part. For me, what the Pixel 5 needs to improve for me to be interested is...

1. Battery life
2. Video recording
3. Camera versatility
4. Top of the line specs (5g, 8gb or more of ram, latest SOC)

That is if they want the Pixel to still be a flagship. If they want to go the Nexus route, they just need to improve battery and video capability while dropping the price into the $600-$700 range.

To be honest ugly cameras are the thing now...what they do is what matters lol

Currently have the Pixel 4 XL, and very happy with it, mostly for the amazing Portrait shots it takes, and smooth stock Android. And battery life has actually been pretty good.

What do I want to see on the Pixel 5 XL?

- Brighter screen like the Galaxy phones and iPhone11 Pro
- Bigger battery, it should have like a 4,500mAh size battery
- 90hz always on display by default, or maybe 120hz?
- Would like to see smaller bezels, like the size of the side bezels all around, but keep the screen flat

I’d say the brighter screen is an absolute must. The 4XL screen is great indoors but the minute you get outside on a sunny day, it’s a very frustrating experience.

agree with what you have written there!
I would even add I don't mind if it is some sort of hard plastic either. Just keep wireless charging.
But if they make it some kind of hard plastic to keep costs down I am fine with that!

Keep the build quality from the 3a to keep cost down. Bulk up the specs and battery. Boom, great phone at a mid range price.

I'd definitely like a bigger screen than 6.3. Using the biggest Samsung phones and then moving to something smaller always feels a little disappointing.

That is not good news for the Pixel line. Probably won't change the Pixel 5, but maybe it motivates google for future models, could go the other way though as well. They are big enough though so it may mean nothing.

Personally I see this as pretty big news. If another major carrier stops selling the pixel phones I can easily see Google scrapping it. They don't make money from the lineup anyway.

If they make it that funny looking I am definitely going to consider a Pixel 5 this year! I really enjoyed the goofy face on the notch of the 3XL. 😬

Pixels are definitely quirky. How many phones let you tickle Pikachu?

Lol....!I’m good as long as it doesn’t try to guess my weight?
Haha...I believe that wasn't among the Android 11 features revealed today but who knows... ;) "Forget night mode, the New Pixel camera includes a WOS (weight of subject) chip which calculates and shows you a person's weight in real time in the viewfinder!"

After which Samsung would of course answer with a WOS camera that slims the subjects down to supermodel BMI :D

Oh dang now you make me realise that I totally missed capitalising on the fact that it's called a "Pixel" after all... ;)

And yeah me too I really don't mind wacky camera modules! Imagine a shiny black phone with a thin horizontal one doing this:

Welp, might not see this thing on Verizon... Google may have just been dumped

I could kind of see this happening, I'm sure the sales reps have more incentives to push iPhone or Samsung devices...

I may be in the minority but I think Pixels might be on their way out in the near future. They have a tendency to run products for awhile then abandon them. Like they did to the nexus line. Maybe their next line they'll just come up with a new name and focus on premium hardware to go with the software. I'd be down with that. Now introducing the Google Pixus (Pixel+Nexus lol).

Oh you may be right because of their history of abandoning things. Also they’re looking more keen to do projects with Samsung. There’s probably easier money in that.

I hope they don’t, though. I really am looking forward to the Pixel 5 this year. I skipped the 4 with no regrets. But I enjoyed both of my Pixels and would like to get back to this line. It would be an end of the year purchase for me so I’d even be open to evaluating their mid-ranger, too.

Aboslutely no part of me cares what the back of a phone looks like, and I'd immediately throw a case on it anyway.

What does everyone think of Google going to mid-range for the Pixel 5? I think it's an excellent move. It will all come down to pricing though. My prediction is they come in around OnePlus pricing and do Pixel 5 for $599 and 5 XL for $699. They can add some bells and whistles that the A series is lacking and just have a lesser processor etc. With the camera and google software experience these would sell like hot cakes at those prices. Then if they have usual sales like they do now you could regularly get in for 500 or less.

Well the battery life, camera & user experience were all superb on the 3a XL. So no reason why a "lesser" Pixel 5 can't be. I'm just really hoping for a wide angle this year. But can't see it if they're trying to cut costs.
