I love the size of the pixel 5, that clean front design, the photos the phone takes and also I love stock android but the pixel 5 is plagued with micro stutters, very disappointing, so much for a smooth 90 hz display when the UI is choppy and stuttery as hell

I did a little comparing between my 3 XL and the 5, sorry for the lame shots. The weather is cold and rainy here so just did stuff around the house. I'll be curious if y'all know which is which

Is the first set from the 3XL? I've never looked closely at pics from the 5. My own 3XL has this trait of letting light kind of "play" and other cameras, while they have other refinements, have never achieved that quality. But sometimes it makes light look "colder". However, I love it and see a bit of that quality in the first batch.

Yes first set from the 3, I am very happy with it still. And no I'm not glasses obsessed in case you thought damn that is a lot of glasses! My gf is an eyewear rep for Arkansas and Tennessee and sells several brands. The office at the house is ridiculous with all the glasses stuff, she has a ton of these animals wearing glasses pics and other glasses stuff.

I put my 5 on swappa and someone asked if it had the screen gap issue, I wasn't aware of it. It did have it so I contacted google and they are going to swap it out. I will leave the replacement sealed in box and try to trade towards an M1 mini or I might try an iphone, never used one as my phone. I have bought and sold them but never used as my phone, might also try to swap towards a newer Galaxy

Well, had mi pixel 5 for 2 months now. Bored of it and it definitely feels slow compared to flagship iPhones. Tried an S20 before this and the software was just ugly. Time to go back to iOS. (my last iPhone was an 11 pro max)
Hmm.. bored I can understand I've been there plenty.. Where are you seeing it slow? Just curious bc my 4A 5G don't feel slow.. I don't play any games on any phone but everything else goes about smoothly... I have an iPhone 12 Pro really no seeing it faster than my Pixel or Fold.... If you want bored iPhone ain't the one to go back... IMO of course...

I received my warranty replacement from.Google and put it on swappa. In my listing I clearly say don't even bother if you are not well established member with feedback because I will not sell and of course in minutes a new date zero feedback buys it. I had to cancel that asap, very frustrating. I'd anyone is interested in a sealed Pixel 5 I would be interested in trying an iphone or a newer Samsung.

I expect it to be pretty bad for the first few years. Google doesn't have a great track record with hardware and both Samsung and Apple struggles with in house CPU performance for the first 3 or 4 years. And well, Samsung still struggles with it.

The question will be, as with all things Google produces, will they have the patience to refine it over time or will they pull the plug at the first sign of trouble.

The fact that they are even trying to make their own chip is a sign of their intention. I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do.

I can see why you'd think that and I hope you're right, but they have a track record of investing in something and then bailing on it before it's given the time to mature.

Look at Stadia, their cloud gaming service. They invested tons of money into infrastructure and bought up game developers to start their own development team. It launched less than two years ago and is currently the best cloud based platform available. And what do Google do? Halt development on their internal gaming division and lay off all the developers. Apparently they thought they'd have more customers at this point. So they're already tipping their hand that they're pulling resources.

Google has tons of examples of this throughout the years.

I got the April update on my pixel 5 yesterday, installed it , five hours later I was watching a video and my phone reseted itself, it kept rebooting itself, it won't load the os, it kept doing that until the battery died. I'm going to send it to the google store tomorrow, apparently it will take around 10 days to get my phone back, thanks google!

Sadly I've gotten to the point I almost always have a backup pixel device and not on my main line (which almost exists purely for spam calls any more).

Did you try booting into fastboot and manually reinstalling the full system? Unfortunately it could wipe your device unless you open the script and remove -w I think it was?

Just sounds like something borked during the update.

No phone, just my laptop, I thought about getting an iPhone 12 (and then sell the pixel 5 once it gets repaired) but the 128 gb model costs 950 eur and we're at the middle of the iPhone cycle, also there are strong rumors about apple implementing some sort of Touch ID and here in Europe it looks like masks won't go away before 2022 so that is something that interests me.

I tried booting into fastboot but once I'm there I'm supposed to use the volume keys to select options like clear cache, wipe device etc, but no matter how hard I try to press volume up or down, the phone doesn't respond and it ends up rebooting itself again :/ I don't mind deleting everything I just don't want to be stuck without a phone for like 12 days :/

I like using my AW to unlock my MBP :) But here in my state they are opening things up and we don't have to wear a mask as often as before. So it might be a little late for this feature now.

Can you unlock an iPhone with say ... some wireless buds? I have the galaxy buds +

Hmmm I doubt it ...I have buds+ too and I prefer them over my AirPods

Edit : I have the buds live
