I think I said in my post but basically it went from 7 hours SoT to 4. Big hit!
You are only getting 4 hours of SOT?

That is honestly terrible! Something must be off. Maybe a rogue app or system process??

I have not really done an official test. So far I have run the phone with adaptive battery and without it. So far I am getting better results with adaptive battery off but I know it takes a week at least for the adaptive battery algorithm to do it's thing. Even still running the phone at least 8 hours of SOT and probably longer with 40% left at the end of the night.

So I don't see how you would only get 4 hours of SOT unless as I said rogue app/process or there is a hardware defect.

I would reset the phone as new and see what happens. If that doesn't resolve the battery life problems then I would contact Google or whomever you purchased from.

Yeah, 4 hours of SOT with QHD is terrible.

Mine is set to QHD and gets similar battery life to the s23 ultra. With 1080p set it gets better battery life than my s23 ultra.

The ultra has been the best android phone I have ever had for battery life so you have context.

I have gotten at least 8 hours of SOT with QHD.

Has anyone found a good glass screen protector yet? Sending the Spigen one back to Amazon today. I can't do the black borders. May give the zagg one on the Google store a try but it's a tad expensive.

I posted a link yesterday to the 3 pack I got and it doesn't have black borders. It also doesn't go quite all the way to the edge and have that issue that someone posted a pic of it not sticking.
The link is post 2047. There is another at post 2040 from another poster.

Mine is for a P8. I'm sure they have them for the Pro.

Honestly....the P8P battery has improved over the P7P but not by leaps and bounds. It comes no where near the S23U or the 15PM for me.
I have the displays sets to defaults. I haven't changed or tweaked them.

My P8P got a little warm a couple days ago watching some YT videos. Not too hot as to make it uncomfortable to hold. But warmer than my other phones get.
I think Google should make the P9P a little thicker with a bigger battery next year

Let's see how this case is? Just placed the order;

I have a Ringke on my iPhone 15 Pro Max and I love it. I only wish that the Pixel one had the magsafe back. I bought the Torras case and it's nice, but I constantly feel like i'm going to drop it due to the slick-ish sides.

There are some nice cases with the Magsafe back although they're not Ringke and i'm a huge Ringke fan and longtime customer going back to the Cowon J3 MP3 days.

I've used these in the past and they are excellent to add to a case ...

Used the same one on my Pixel Fold case and hasn’t come off yet. ;)

I received my 8 Pro from FedEx today and i'm currently setting it up. For some reason the phone copy did not work although it transferred my WiFi info. It aborted several times saying there was a problem with the connection so I just set it up manually.

I love the porcelain color in my Ringke case, although i'm 50/50 on the matte finish. I thought I would have liked it more, maybe it'll grow on me with time and time will be on my side cause with the promised 7 years support, I plan to skip the next 2-3 Pixel releases, maybe more if the phone still performs well.

I installed the Caseology screen protector with the black border. I must say, i've come to like the black border on the screen protector. It blends in really well and you can't tell there's a screen protector on the display. I also noticed I had a similar protector on my 7 Pro and did not realize that.

Shortly after I switched from the 13PM after years of being on Android, I said I wouldn’t entertain switching back away from the iPhone until a foldable checked all the boxes as I believed slab phones had reached their peak. I was done dealing with trade offs on Pixel phones and honestly, while I love Samsungs hardware, they don’t feeel refined to me.

But I may change my stance a bit, one thing that might make me switch to a non iPhone slab phone, is if Google can even somewhat nail Bard integration into Google assistant. In my mind, that’s a game changer if done right and it’s an area that by all accounts Apple is nowhere close to. Bard started out a mess but is getting better and if it can reach where ChatGPT is now and integrate with the OS, man it could finally be a real personal assistant rather than the voice assistants we have now.

I have to say that I am very impressed with the sound quality of the Buds Pro's. I own quite a few wireless Buds including the OG Pixel Buds (coral), Pixel Buds Series A, Galaxy Buds2, Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro. The PBP's easily sound better than even the Liberty 3 Pro's which are pretty good Buds. The PBP are NOT overly loud but they make up for it with a delicate sound in the lows, mid's and highs. They shine listening to Jazz and Freddie Hubbard where you have a range of instruments that the Buds Pro handles very easily. I set the bass to light and it still comes out a little punchy. Setting it much higher would be good for hip-hop.

Either my eyes are getting worse as I mature, or the Pixel 8 Pro is extra tiny in the default font size? Do you all keep it at the microscopic tiny default font size, or do you change it?

I have been thinking the same thing! Everything seems much smaller.

I even put it side by side next to my S23U and yes, the P8P, everything is much smaller.

Figured I'd get an update today but haven't heard anything. Checked the order and just sitting there with same 19-20th delivery window so it hasn't slipped so far.

Cancel / edit order still available... 🤔 😳

Yes, hopefully good upgrade on Nothing 3 and camera upgraded since I saw plenty of complaints with latest..

Thank you for the notes on the pics…and so close with many of today’s phones but nice to see the Pixel 3 holding its own …I’d like to videotape you walking around with them phones haha

Haha I had some friends take snaps of me doing some of this work.

Video is more funny as I stack 2 phones and walk around like a crazed tourist while filming. I need to do side-by-side edits before I post them on here.

Amazing how many people ask me what phone I like better when out and about. It's super hard as I like both platforms equally for different reasons. In these tests, I am reminded how awesome the 7a is considering the low cost of entry.

The pixel 7a holds it own with the much more expensive models.

That's awesome and I'm sure you get plenty of questions and side eyes
