It's a shame they do that; should just be even across the flagship phones really
What they are basically doing is making it an incentive to buy the Fold. Because if they applied the same trade in values to the other 9 Pro phones, people will probably consider the cheaper option. It appears that Google is wanting to get as many Fold devices in the hands of the early adopters. That won't happen if you can get the same trade in value on a 9 Pro XL because if people are balking at spending $1099 on the XL, they'll hesitate even further on a $1799 phone.

So if Google were to accept a 15PM as a trade on the XL, they would be selling them at $179 if one includes the $200 store credit promo. That appears to be why they have allowed for the $720 trade in value for the 15PM on the Fold.

Looking at EE here in the UK. The offer I've been sent is £56 a month and can choose from the ZF6 and PF2 as well as other flagship devices...

Think that's sold me on the new Pixel 9 Fold 👌🏼

Just want to wait a few weeks and see what decent cases and screen protectors come out for it before I take the offer up

Just seen Spigen have released their Slim Armor Pro case here in the UK (exactly the same one I have on my Pixel Fold now) and Caseology have got what looks to be a decent screen protector out too...

Ordered a black 9 Pro. I always go for the largest model but it will be nice to try something smaller this time (even though 6.3" isn't exactly small).
Expected delivery is September 9.
Thinking of going for the pro 9 too, are you current an iOS user ? How was the transition if you already did it

So this was my first time watching a Google event, and first time really noticing a Pixel phone, and I really like what I have seen..

So I am thinking of escaping the Apple ecosystem, and the iPhone, which I find incredibly boring, and way behind competition (I have 15PM). And so I am thinking of going for the Pixel 9 XL. Can someone share their opinion after moving from Apple to android? I have no experience with Pixels, never even seen one in real life..

FWIW I'm midst moving my 15PM to my new S24U as I type this (gone with the S24U as I'm replacing my AWU2 with the Samsung Watch Ultra also)

But my Pixel Fold is my 2nd device (for business - I'll be upgrading to the 9 Fold very soon)

Android is a superb platform; it's a lot more customisable than iOS is and that's great if you love to change things and have them how YOU want them

iPhones are superb and make a lot of sense if you're well into the Apple ecosystem; but I've feet in both and happy to run Android as my mobile but Apple for everything else - they work absolutely fine bar you don't have iMessage or Facetime on your Android (although I think there's an app called BlueBubbles that works like iMessage - don't quote me on that); I use Whatsapp for my main messaging and have FT on my M4 iPad Pro and all my Macs etc...

I've had the Pixel 7 Pro and my wife has the 8 Pro; they're superb phones, fantastic cameras to boot also...

I'd highly recommend the switch if you're keen to see what the 'other side' offers ;)

I have the Pixel 8 Pro and iPhone 15 PM.
Overall I prefer Android (UI design, keyboard, notifications, sideloading, back gesture, camera, customization and a lot of other small things) but iOS feels a bit more refined and reliable and the accessories are very good.

I will sell my 8 Pro and probably keep the iPhone.

Good points.
I just have a hard time trusting Google with my data. It has been years since I used ANY Google service including Google as a search engine. Don’t even have YouTube account..

The two other things I prefer Android over iOS is how they handle eliminating and deleting phone entries and reporting spam. Also in Google messenger if I want I can have it auto delete my messages after 24 hrs. Besides that I can "long press" each message and manually delete them in a group or I can long press a message or phone entry and report it as spam and block that number without viewing the contents.

In the Google phone app I can have any phone call saved to a transcript if the caller tries to leave a voicemail. I find there are more steps involved trying to delete phone entries in iOS. The way it handles phone entry deletions, kinda reminds me how it was done in 2010.

It's the little things that keeps me buying Pixel's because it's all about the software and NOT the hardware.

What have you to hide?

You do realise that this happens more or less everywhere you go/whatever you use...

Unless you're fully off-grid; there's no getting away from it

That’s just what power brick you can use. All reports suggest 21w for fold and about 32w for pixel 9 pros
9 Pro Fold up to 21W
9 and 9 Pro up to 27W
9 Pro XL up to 37W

Still an improvement on the P8P and Pixel Fold but I'm spoiled with the Open.

Still, very impressed with the 9 Pro Fold. May cancel my 9 Pro XL and order the 9 Pro Fold. Good chance I'll be saying a rather quick goodbye to my Z Fold 6 even though I really like it alot.

Yeah happy with my choice as well. Love the aspect ratio for front display as well.

I don’t need XL cameras as got other phones to do that job. I’m sure the pixel fold cameras will surprise people and look good due to the processing. The add me feature looks good and ideal for holiday pics
Yeah, aspect ratio is one reason I went for the fold. I've still got the iPhone for camera and video. Maybe the only area I'd like to see Google step up with is their video performance, if they can match the iPhone's video then the Pixels would be perfect.

From the early hands on, Tensor 4 performance is looking fast, processing seems a decent increase from the T3 on all the P9's.

I need to go case hunting next. I usually stick with Google but may try some third parties this year.

I love the Pixel 9 Pro.

This year I'm not going to change it, because having the Pixel 8 Pro as a secondary device, the gains are not enough to change, especially because of the processor issue.

I hope that with Android 15 they solve the scrolling issues that the Pixel 8 has.
What scrolling issue? I've not noticed one

I have a history of using both iOS and Android. If you use an alternative launcher with Android you can make it look how you want. I actually find apps are better on Android. I listen to audiobooks and use an Android app called 'Smart Audiobook Reader'. When I had to use iOS for a while I couldn't find anything decent to use. That's one example of many. On Android you feel more in control whereas on iOS you feel Apple is in control and it graciously allows you to do certain things. I use macOS and have no issues using an Android phone. Snapdrop replaces Airdrop and the app Airdroid allows you to effectively open an Android desktop in a web browser - so you access your phone in a meaningful way. I have always been cautious of buying into an ecosystem and prefer using third party tools where I can. I run my own cloud drive, contacts and calendar servers using Nextcloud, installed on my NAS. You will find more techies and geeks using Android because of the flexibility available should you wish to to use it. You don't have to, of course. Just think that at its simplest any phone consists of a home screen with icons that you click on and an app opens - whether you use iOS or Android. It really is that simple.

Certain apps like Reddit and Firefox (9to5google for example) are very juddery when scrolling
That will happen if an app has been designed around iOS. The Winn Dixie supermarket app that I use is a juddery mess on any Android phone. If try it on my iPhone, it is buttery smooth. It just depends what the lead platform was chosen for development.

I have this case for my S24 Ultra, can't beat it for the price IMO. It is a fingerprint magnet though.

Not only that but people think you can’t turn stuff off within Android. To much amazement and surprise to the iOS crowd, yes you can turn stuff. If you don’t want Google tracking your search history and other things, you can disable it or have it auto delete after so many days or months. The same applies to Maps.

But once you connect to the outside world with your devices, you are fair game whether it’s Windows, macOS, Android or iOS.
