This is what's ultimately holding me back now from trading in my S24+. Heck of a deal at BB but I'm not confident that the scrolling issues will be fixed, at least not until Android 15. Not buying something hoping that issues will be resolved later.

At least that's my mindset today 😅. We'll see how long that lasts.
Is twitter also an issue? That’s probably my most used app and I was always really annoyed when on Android at how jittery it was.

I have both the Pixel 8 Pro ( running 15 beta ) and S24 Ultra, and both phones are smooth in scrolling social media apps, like Reddit, Threads, Discord, Instagram. My 8 Pro feels butter smooth in those apps.

I can't say about Twitter, as I deleted my account and uninstalled that crap racist app thanks to Phoney Stark, I mean Musk.

Twitter has been a mess on both my iPhone and pixel, its a stuttering mess like its owner tbh.

Everything else runs perfect on my pixel, the myth that they suck needs to die.

Anyway, I ordered the 9 pro in obsidian with the obsidian watch 3 that came with £100 off.

The big problem is how much I’m locked into the Apple ecosystem with things like Apple Books & Apple Music plus I’ve never found a podcasting app as good on Android as the Apple one.
I was like that but learnt my lesson.

Kindle - books/manga/comics
Spotify - music/podcasts
google Keep - notes
google tasks - reminders
Google photos - photos

Now I can use these on any device without the lock in.

I don't have any issues with twitter on my 15 PM or S24U. Scrolling is great on both devices and no issues.

I'm a mess. I keep going back and forth between the P9PF and P9PXL. Canceled my order for the XL and ordered the Fold. Still not sure. May have to get both and part with my S24U
Originally I was just going to upgrade my PF and P8P for those this years but happy to have a little variety with having one Samsung. Now when I switch it's like fresh paint haha

I didn't use Twitter when I had my P8 Pro. I had issues with Firefox and Reddit all the time. On the S24+ everything is smooth.

Has scrolling improved with the 15 beta compared to 14? I know Google said it was going to address it in 15. That's good to hear if so.

Never said the Pixel sucks, I will probably end up ordering one at some point. If things have improved with Android 15 that's great.

I'm thinking about trading my S24+ for the Pixel 9, mainly because I want a smaller phone.

I'm very happy with the S24+: everything is extremely smooth, great performance, great battery life, great screen, love One UI customization and features, etc. But for the past few months I've been wanting to go back to a smaller phone.

I think a 6.3 inch screen is maybe the sweet spot. A 6.1 one is still too small IMO. But the Pixel 9 doesn't have an LTPO screen, weaker processor, no x3 optical zoom, weaker fast charging... I don't plan on getting the 9 Pro because with the regular 9 I'd have to pay 160€, which is ok, but don't want to pay more considering the S24+ is still a very recent purchase (February).

I could also wait on the S25, which rumors suggest will also have a 6.3 screen. Right now I don't see many advantages going with the Pixel 9, since the S24+ will have the same 7 years of updates (and both come with Android 14). Maybe a slightly better camera?

Screen brightness on both is mostly the same, I have the 512GB version, same 12GB RAM, both have great designs...

I'm tempted because it's "only" 160€ to have a smaller phone, while still getting good hardware and 7 years of updates. The S24 is not an option, because I'd rather wait for the S25 in a few months.

I also want a smaller phone but if I go that route it'll be the Razr+. Played with it in person, really nice and totally different than anything I've ever used since the OG Razr (the Razr+ hits me right in the feels). The Pixel is pretty much the same phone as the S24+ with better cameras and faster OS updates. Call screen is the killer feature for me but that's it. I already pay for ChatGPT-4o. In my opinion. So for me it'd be a side-grade.

Yeah, I agree. The main benefit would be having a more compact phone. That's why I'm hesitant and probably would wait a little longer for a bigger upgrade, but still in the same form factor.

That is, if I don't get tired of the bigger phone faster.

I have found that I can adjust to phone sizes pretty easy. I do prefer larger phones which is why I typically go with the biggest Pixel phones. I also thought the iPhone 13 was too small and that the Pro Max was the size I wanted because of the screen size. Then I bought a brand new iPhone 13 because the Pro Max were no longer on sale on the Best Buy website. Funny thing is now when I pickup the phone and look at the screen, I don't have a problem with the smaller screen size, weird. 🤓

Racist Stark! The ******* ruined my favorite social media app. No loss regarding the Twitter app then.

I use Sync for Reddit, and I've had no issues with jitteriness.

I've been with EE for a long time but SIM only; they've been trying to get me on to a full contract for the last 2 years 😂

Agree; it's a very good offer

No downpayment, just need to renew my SIM only contract that expires in Nov (both personal SIM and 'business' SIM)

£56 per month, 24 month contract, £100 down payment

I've ordered a Pixel 9 Pro and would love this Ruby Red Bellroy leather case - but it's only available for the Pixel 9 Pro XL. Why? My favourite phone was my red/orange Nexus 5. It always cheered me up.
