So Best Buy offering $1099 trade-in for my S24 Ultra for a Pixel 9 Pro XL. But one thing I don't like is how they go about this. To order the phone I need to pay up front right now in full for the new P9PXL, and then my credit for the trade-in comes in 7 to 10 days later after review.

Why can't I just pop in the store on release day or after it's out in stores, and bring in my S24 Ultra with me, and do the trade-in right then and there on the spot. And only have to pay the difference of $88 bucks?

Original Price$1,099.00
Estimated Sales Tax$87.92
Due Today$1,186.92
Trade-In Value
-$1,099.00
Total After Trade-In
$87.92
How do I get my trade-in value?
When you place your order, your payment method will be charged for the full purchase price, plus tax.
When we receive your trade-in item, we’ll confirm that it matches the information you provided in the estimate, then we’ll refund your payment method the final trade-in value within 7-10 days, including any associated tax.

This year I'm trying to be more fiscally responsible, and keep my CC purchases low, to pay down some debt. I have zero problem paying $88 for a new phone LOL, thanks to the trade-in. But would rather that transaction all happen at once. So if it means I wait till the phones are in the store, that's fine.

Typically I purchase my Pixel phones direct from the Google store, but I want to pay ca$h for the P9 this year for once.

Do you have a BB card ? I use my BB card for all their transactions so by the time I get the first bill the refund hits . Previously when I did BB trade in the credit was handled same day of pickup so not sure if they now changed it.

Yes I have a BB card account. Good to know, so preordering now and doing the trade-in on pick up at the store next week, the credit should take effect before I even get the next months bill. Thanks

Exactly if done right by BB it would hit same statement and you pay balance.

Do you have three separate lines for each phone... or do you swap SIM cards (well, you really can't with the 15PM)?
Yes sir. I have two lines ..ESIM on the iPhone my main phone along with work apps, swap the physical SIM on the two Androids, I've had a Google Voice number since forever and I give that number out to peeps I don't want to have my numbers plus I can forward my work calls to the Google Voice so I know when it's not personal. Great thing about the GV number it rings on all my phones .. if I wish it

Checked out the 9 Pro XL at the store today, and it was incredibly laggy and stuttered a lot, no matter the app I tried. :/

I had that happen once with a Galaxy phone, and it was really because of the crap demo app they put on those things. :)

Agreed, when I was humming and hawing on getting the S24 Ultra, the Best Buy display units felt laggy and very underwhelming.

Then I just went for it, and bought it unlocked from the Samsung store, and after setup and some tweaking, the phone was ultra smooth and fast. It made those Best Buy display units seem like a completely different phone than I bought.

yeah but this is common practice. Apple sends out invites to product launches to tech reviewers. But will only send invites to reviewers that have posted favorable reviews of their products. Post a not so favorable or negative review and Apple will not invite you back.

This is the same as companies sending you products to review. If you post negative reviews..guess what happens. You won't get another product to review from that company.

Well at least iJustine will always get an invite from Apple.

Had a chance to checkout the Pixel 9 Pro XL at Bestbuy a little while ago.
What a nice phone! The flat sides make this very easy phone to hold. Very similar to the 15 PM.
It seems odd to me that the P9P XL display is 6.8 the same as my S24U. it seems so much smaller to me. It is almost the same exact size as the 15 PM.
I can't wait to get mine next week!

It’s funny you mention the 15PM because that’s exactly what it reminds me of and why I started to call the 9 series the iPixel.

Mrwhoosetheboss posted a very critical review of the iPad Pro M4, let’s see if Apple invites him to the iPhone event or gives review units to him.

Yeah it does seem very similar to my 15 PM except with a better camera and better customization. Then AI is baked into the operating system. That is where Google has it over other phone makers. They can build their AI model into the OS and it becomes seamless.
