Boom!

I approve. Android in an iPhone shell (which suits me just fine)

CGlass screen protectors don't work well with ultrasonic fingerprint readers in my experience. Tried several on my S24U and finally switched to Samsung's plastic film that worked a lot better.
I ordered several brands of glass screen protectors from Amazon so I will be interested to see if they work with the new scanner. I prefer glass cause they are nowhere as bad creating bubbles as the film type of protectors.

FedEx is delivering my phone today which means I should see it around 2PM.

Is the regular sized 9 Pro available in other countries today or is it a month or so wait elsewhere too?
Seems strange they were not all ready to go at the same time doesn't it.

I think it's everywhere, Flossy Carter mentioned it in his unboxing that the smaller Pro isn't out until September.

Yep.

If you have a iPhone 15 Pro Max, there'd be absolutely ZERO reason to "upgrade" to a 16 Pro Max. The biggest upgrade would be iOS 18, which 100% comes to the iPhone 15 line as well. Other than that' it's still just another iPhone. "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss"
Depends what you value in an upgrade I would say there’s some good upgrades more than what we have seen from Samsung and google

bigger main sensor (bigger than all others from google, Samsung, one plus
new ultra wide
brighter display
bigger battery and maybe cooling system
likely new al features for new models
‘capture button for photo taking

In the US, you can order the Pro but delivery is around 1 month out and the XL is around a 4 day wait till delivery so yeah, even here in the USA, it's also about a 1 month wait for the 9 Pro.

IIRC, the iPhone 16 Pro will get Apple Intelligence with iOS 18. My iPhone 13 is excluded and that's a good thing as I have no interest in AI.

Updating the phone year after year seems (from my point of view) totally unnecessary, I believe from the year 2017 onwards, in which the phones reached a fairly significant degree of maturity. The jumps between generations from that date to the present have been quite small year after year, being something significant every 2 years (I would even dare to say that 3 years is a period of time to feel a phone really “updated”).

This happens in absolutely every phone manufacturer, no matter if it's Google, Samsung or Apple. The leaps between generations is small.

I traded the iPhone 12 Pro Max for the 13 Pro Max and except for the 120hz and the notch the rest was pretty much the same (and the camera was worse, I always hated the iPhone 13 processing). You feel those changes the first couple of days, then you feel like you have “more of the same”.

This year I changed the 13 for the 15 and without being a big change, I have seen “important” improvements. The weight, the slightly smaller size, the reduced bezels, the Dynamic Island and a camera system that processes photos well. Although the iPhone 13 Pro Max is still a current and perfectly functional phone, the leap of two generations is somewhat more noticeable.

The iPhone 16 will bring improvements (like everyone, every year), but on a day-to-day basis those improvements you will feel them the first few days... then it will be an iPhone (the same applies to the Pixel with the Pixel 7 Pro to the 8 Pro, in which I also made that change and also did not notice much of a difference beyond the new AI features), or with Samsung (which maintains the aesthetics and technical specifications of certain aspects, such as the cameras untouched for 3/4 years).

Many of us change it for taste, for hobby and for feeling the “having the latest”, but the reality is that these phones today hold perfectly 5 years (or even more), working well, with decent performance and battery changes, since it is the most obvious piece of wear and tear in a mobile. In my family there are people with the iPhone 8 Plus, which without being super fast, works fluid and decently. iPhone 12 and 13 that are still going great today. There is no need to have the latest, except for geeks, which in the end we are the majority here.

I'd still be using an 8 Plus myself, if it were not for the fact that it's no longer possible to use an Apple watch with one unless you're lucky enough to find a watch with WatchOS 9 still installed.

All true and the mfg's know that as well. That's why Google typically gives out INSANE promotions to entice current Pixel owners to trade up. Samsung does the same. Apple, not so much because of the brand awareness they have developed.

Most definitely agree. I like my current iPhone upgrade schedule I'm doing them every 3 years since I feel I can get a decent enough trade-in promo from somebody.

The only reason I upgrade iPhones every year is because I can upgrade from T-Mobile and it’s not a big purchase every year. It’s just the same payment every month.

There was a camera update so not sure if some of these comparisons were done before the update, but I heard it was improved on update.

I have T-Mobile also but I buy my iPhones outright with whatever trade in value I can scoop up. I don't like monthly payments lol
I don’t like monthly payments either. That’s why I‘ve been with Mint Mobile the last 5 years. I pay once a year which costs me around $180 plus tax for the year. They call it the “chill bill”, cause you see it once a year.
