I don't know why I'm up lol I will also be testing that Spigen SP with the fingerprint. It's shipped and I should have it today along with the phone.
LOL late night, excited like a kid at Christmas? 😆

I was up about that time too, had to finish some work after getting home at 9PM from coaching the boys football team. Couldn't go to sleep so started playing with Pixel Studio and the Pixel Screenshots apps. Pretty fun stuff.

This device is definitely a keeper, especially with the trade-ins and credits. We will see how long I keep my sim out of the OP Open.

Some people on Reddit saying their LK screen protectors work flawlessly with FPS, but it's a definite no go for me. Tried the same thumb, 4 times, and it took forever to setup because I kept getting "Fingerprint not recognized" errors when setting it up. Had to press down VERY VERY hard and at a very precise angle to get it to even accept my print. Then when trying to use it to unlock the phone I had to press down so hard that it hurt a bit.

Others on Reddit saying they had better luck with Spigen glass. But I'm going with some TPU Skinomi. The phone would be very unpleasant to use the FPS with this LK glass protector installed.

Still debating what to spend my $310 credit on...

I'd still be using an 8 Plus myself, if it were not for the fact that it's no longer possible to use an Apple watch with one unless you're lucky enough to find a watch with WatchOS 9 still installed.
The 8 Plus was one of my favorite all time iPhone models. TouchID and that big button was perfect imho. I could have my finger or thumb on that thing before taking out my pocket so it was unlocked by time it was out of my pocket :)

Just jumped on this thread and gotta admit that, although I still prefer and own an iPhone, I am happy to see people honestly and thoroughly discussing alternatives and the competition.

Happy to see a lot of folks here considering the competition, too. I used Android phones for a while and switched back to iPhone, but still enjoy seeing progress made on the Android side.

At the end of the day, we must all root for these phones to succeed to press Apple to create better devices, and vice-versa. Competition is good.

Spigen or the Whitestone Dome have always been my go to glass screen protectors and I haven't had an issue with the FP sensor with those.

I think the issue this year is the new ultrasonic FP vs last years optical. I had no issues in prior years with glass on pixels, but this year it's a no go so far.

I wonder if the photos were taken before the camera update ? I've been seen a few folks saying they got update which is significant
And, it's a regular pixel, not a Pro.

Also, that guy is a terrible blogger. He likes to post hit pieces for clicks. He didn't even have firsthand use of the device, he regurgitated someone elses experience from a youtube post.

I can cherry pick things about any camera and make them look like garbage. Is the pixel line weak when it comes to portrait video? Sure. Behind the iPhone and S24U in my opinion. But it does a lot of things better as well.

Also, who the hell uses 4K 60FPS at night...and on a selfie cam?? Trash article in my opinion.

Galaxy S series have had ultrasonic for a while without issue. I'll give my spigen a try when I get one and report back.

Thanks for pointing out a few things, I didn't even read the article and don't even know who the author is as I just was looking at some of the photos. I tend to go by my eyes, so they might be old eyes but they're the ones that count the most to me.

Then there is always that one guy when a new phone is released that wants to post negative things about a phone they don't like and will never get or consider......

I just watched Floss' unboxing video, it looks like they made the default temp of the camera in basic photo mode warmer, which was my main gripe with the 8 Pro. Those portrait shots of Shoes look great. Mine is out for delivery, looking forward to it!
