I forgot to say but I'm using a Spigen tempered glass screen protector. It was the easiest install of a screen protector ever and it also looks like it was from Google themselves. Perfect precision.

I also have zero issues with the FPS since install.

Same here. Works perfectly. And screen protector mode is off lol. Adaptive touch is on. I have each thumb and index registered so no doubles. Maybe some people's thumbs are too dry or something.

Got my Hazel P9P XL and finished setting it up. It is by far the best Pixel phone yet......
Best feel in the hand and best display. Face unlock is so nice and fast. Love it! Plan on testing AI and the camera soon.
The FPS seems faster than the P8P from last year. I don't use a screen protector so no issues for me on that issue. Heck...I barely ever use a case let alone a screen protector.

Yeah, it appears you are right. I installed the Supershieldz glass screen protectors and they immediately unlock the phone 100% of the time.

I ordered spigen protectors based on your guys experience. I'll see if those work better. Unfortunately a week or more for delivery from Amazon.

This lk one is going in the trash. Actually I'll start a return on Amazon and send them their used protectors back.

If only OnePlus 12 had stock/vanilla Android... this would have been a no brainer, S24 Ultra specs at the price of the regular Pixel 9..oh well.

Also received and set up my Hazel P9XL. Data transfer from my S24+ took maybe 10 mins, very quick. As I was installing the screen protector I noticed a nearly invisible micro scratch maybe 1-2mm on the screen out of the box, when looking at it at an angle under bright light. With screen protector installed it is impossible to see. We'll see how my OCD traits deal with it and whether it is even worth the effort to exchange.

There's a noticeable difference between the 8 Pro and 9XL. Build quality is really, really nice. Screen is very bright, crisp, uniform, no pixel or tint issues. The ultrasonic fps is fantastic as is face unlock. So far everything is pretty smooth in terms of scrolling, much better than the 8 Pro. The speakers sound much better, clearer, louder than my 8 Pro, which sounded muffled all the time. Maybe that one was defective. The camera finally is set to a warmer setting by default which I'm very happy about. Much more true to life than my 8 Pro.

FPS works perfectly with amFilm tempered glass screen protector. The case is a Tauri "MagSafe" case.

I miss my video lock screen on my S24+, other than that this 9 Pro XL is making a fantastic impression on me. Have not tried anything AI related yet but will soon. Completely different feeling and experience using this phone compared to Pixels 7 and 8 Pro for me. I'll give it some time and play with it before trading in my S24+.

When does the Pixel 9 series officially get Android 15? Or should I just opt in to the beta and get it that way?

Really like the rounded corners on this phone, like some of the older Pixel phones and Nexus phones, they were rounded. It just makes it easier and more comfortable to hold.

The display is very bright and vibrant and just clean and beautiful.

Phone feels extra smooth and fluid, even setting up and downloading and installing apps, it didn't stutter.

But I want Android 15 on this phone, will probably go the 15 beta.

And I need a case ASAP, can't use this phone naked, it's another slippery bar of wet soap.

What cases is everybody using? I went mad and got a casemate one of the google store, a mous clear one and a spigen of amazon which has a weird odor. The castemate one seems to be warped along the lh side, so I can squeeze it.. if that makes sense. Might try and return it. The mous seems like the winner, but is a bit slippery. does anyone know if the ultra thin magsafe mous cases are a matte finish?

I've gone for a Spigen MagSafe one. I absolutely HATE that stupid MagSafe white circle thing but my car has a MagSafe phone holder so I needed a case that would hold. I only put it on when I need to get in the car or go out and about.

I may end up caseless...it just feels soooo good nekkid.

I got the mous black super thin magnetic one. I got this as I quite liked the version for my pixel 8.

Not sure I'm liking this one though. It's a proper finger print magnet and kinda makes the phone feel a bit cheap.

I got the official Google case. It feels more smooth this year and does not seem to pickup as much dust and lint.
I like it a lot so far.

Has anyone figured out how the Live wallpaper on the 9 Pro works? There's currently no info on it yet. I like the thick Tron bar of the wallpaper but I can't tell what the Live part about it is? 🧐

Last years Google cases were awesome and turned the phones into the color phone you wish you had bought. At first my favorite was the Coral, then the Blue cover because I was torn with the 8 Pro in porcelain or bay blue and settled on the 8 Pro in porcelain (no regrets). But my favorite color out of all the cases became Mint. I love the look and feel of those cases. With the exception of the Coral which was only sold on Google's store, I got the other two from Amazon for 50% off. I got the coral case from Google and I used a $10 off coupon.

Ultimately my all time favorite Google cases were the fabric cases they used on the Pixel 4a and 4a 5G series.
