My father complains about delayed notifications on his 6a. WhatsApp notifications work perfectly fine but gmail can be delayed by hours or until you pick up phone.

Delayed notifications have been an issue with every Android I have tried, including the S24U.
Dang. I probably was getting them delayed and didn't realize it because I was too busy at work.

Yeah that's no good. As someone that occasionally dabbles in Android, I'm with you. Need notifications on time for my kids' school app as well as news alerts.

I've not had issues with delayed notifications the only time that I could say I might see a late arriving notification is if my phone sat for a long extended period. For Samsung side I have the app set to unrestricted ones like Gmail and WhatsApp.

Really unhappy with Google right now.
After praising their return policy I'm currently on the end of an open case and I'm £300 out of pocket.

I bought the Watch 3, plus an extra band which was all part of the same order. When realising I didn't want the watch, I initiated a return via my orders and put both the watch and the band in the jiffy bag and returned.
The email I got last week said they had received my band, but nothing about the watch. I realised that the watch order was separately listed (under same order number, but still had the option to be returned) as I had initiated the return on just the band.
I called Google who said they would speak to warehouse and make them aware this is both items.

A week later (now) I have been refunded for the band, not the watch. Called Google who have been pretty unhelpful. Just told me to reply to the email from last week which was auto-generated after my call to say this was still ongoing and someone would look into it.

I can already see this ending badly. Just have a feeling. I have no way to prove I sent the watch back with it and when I've checked the return label, I thought there were two barcodes for the two items, but it looks like one barcode is the return one and the other is the item itself.

Can only hope they sort this out but I really don't see how as it's almost my word against theirs. And no, I didn't record putting both items into the bag as I didn't think I'd need to for a return.
Any update on this mate? Hopefully Google aren't on your **** list. :(

Nothing. No update. I’ve chased them but the case is still open.
They’re not on my **** list yet if they can resolve it and I’m aware that I messed up with the return, however if they received the band, then they received the watch and the band has been refunded.
So I’m hoping they can sort this.

In other Pixel news, having some issues with my wallet and using my card on this phone. Twice now I have gone to use my phone to pay in a store and both times the phone has done nothing.
Holding it against the machine, trying every angle going but nothing working.

It happened last weekend on a shopping trip an happened again today buying some food.
Thankfully, my pixel watch came to the rescue both times.

I haven’t noticed delayed notifications on my Pixel 9 Pro Fold vs. my iPhone but I also haven’t been paying that close attention as I usually check most of my notifications on my Apple Watch Ultra. I’ll try to make a point of checking my P9PF right as I get notifications on my Apple Watch and report back.

I've read about this delayed notification issue on pixel phones, but personally I have not noticed it myself. Unless it's happening and I don't even realize it. Maybe someone's texting me and I don't get it till later? I have no idea.

My family, my wife and my two kids. All of us have Google pixel phones and the other three haven't mentioned it to me about delayed or late texts or anything like that.

I'm not saying it's not happening because I have been reading about it but just for me personally. No I have not noticed that issue.

The only shop I have this issue is Tesco, everywhere else it's 100% fine and instant. Tesco doesn't have this issue with Apple Pay though, so not sure what the difference is lol.

Delayed notifications are a huge issue with my Pixel as well. It has been an issue with Android generally for years. It is an Android issue.

Most of my notifications are delayed, including e-mail notifications and notifications from news apps and my school app. The latter especially is frustrating. None of these notifications are delayed on my iPad. Sometimes the same notifications take almost an hour or longer to arrive on my Pixel. Holy ****.

I have no idea why Google thinks this is acceptable. At this point, I might switch back to an iPhone. I can’t deal with the delayed notifications anymore, especially from very important apps. I need reliability.
I am experiencing it too, as recently as 10 minutes ago when a delayed email came through about a real estate closing...which was kind of important. I'm not messing with ADB commands or any of that, sadly it is what it is.
Is this an issue on Galaxy phones too? I don’t remember being upset by it when I had the Galaxy, but I could have forgotten.
I don't remember it being like this on my S24+. If it was, it wasn't to this extent where I actually notice it.

I'm with you. I have my gmail and outlook open on my desktop all the time and in many instances I get the notification from my watch or phone before I actually get it on my desktop. Facebook notifications are hit and miss but I couldn't really care less about that.

Are you using Gmail for your email? Try outlook and see if that helps.

Yes. It doesn't happen 100% of the time. I have Outlook notifications disabled since it is my work email and I don't want those notifications coming in on my phone all the time anyway.

Same here.....I have my 15PM and P9XL side by side on my desk. I get email (Outlook) and app and social notifications within a minute on both phones. Same thing for texts no noticeable difference.

I know I had mentioned about picking up a regular iPhone 16 last week and it arrived today.
It's a nice phone and everything is as expected but it really has made it even more clear how this year's Pixels most definitely deserve the praise for the update in design and build quality.

In comparison to the 16, my 9 Pro feels very much like the Pro iPhones. From the minimal bezel to the feel in hand etc it just feels a level above the regular 16. I mean, it should do, for the price etc, but Google's hardware as we know hasn't always been this good.

Super job. 😄.
Worth nothing that I do still really like the iPhone 16. It was always meant as a secondary device. 👍🏻

I feel like the issue with delayed notifications is worse than before. I just unlocked my phone and got Gmail notifications that I should have gotten two hours ago. I have disabled adaptive battery and completely disabled doze but it doesn't seem to help.
It's not just Gmail but also other popular apps. Perhaps more of a general Android issue than a Pixel issue.
I think the only true way to fix this is to root your phone and disable doze for good.

otherwise google know about this and will not fix it

and android 15 makes it worse by going into doze mode even quicker to save more battery

2 stabs in the back from Google.
