I ended up selling my 9 Pro. Although I really like it, there are still a few issues that I just cannot cope with.
  • Horribly slow notifications. Sometimes it takes over an hour to have them delivered but it is different from app to app. Some are instant.
  • Even in good light, there are some very strange things happening in photos where there is quick motion. Google needs to work on their frame merging algorithms
  • Very noticeable periscope lens flare effects on 5x in low light photography
  • Average battery life at best (needs charging throughout the day to survive until bedtime)
  • Tint when the display is angled. Mostly noticeable on white background. Tested without screen protector with no difference
  • Calls are unreliable. Sometimes I just get an SMS from my carrier that someone tried calling me but I had no missed call. Cell reception is great.
  • Wifi calling is very buggy. Sometimes the person I talk to no longer hear me and I have to reboot the phone to solve the issue
There are just too many issues.

the resale of the fist fold really cratered so I’m hoping it’ll come down under 1k in a few months. Itll be fun to have my first android I’ll actually keep.

1) notifications handled by Google OS, Gmail, etc work perfectly with P8P. Apps handle notifications individually. It is possible to go into individual app settings and see if notifications are active?

2) can't comment on P9P camera.

3) Adaptive battery needs about a month with a new phone to optimize battery. On P8P and with heavy use I get through a day and all anecdotal reports with battery and P9 series seem to contradict your experience?

4)See if there is an update for the phone app? Again older P8P is very reliable and other reports don't say any negative telephony reports?

Reboot your router and try wifi calling again.

If you still have issues after my suggestion then maybe reset the phone and if that didn't work then get Google to replace the phone. Unfortunately you returned the phone before, I assume, you could troubleshoot or get a replacement?

Sorry to hear, it is possible you got a dud phone though. I haven't done much low light photography so can't comment on your lens flare effect issue. But I don't experience any of the other issues you had on mine. Don't get me started on off-angle viewing / tint. I went through a few iPhones 16PM due to horrible displays. Panel lottery is a thing on all devices until OLED dies someday and hopefully never returns. I can't say I've ever watched something on a tiny phone screen and thought to myself, "I really wish this had infinite contrast ratio or inky blacks."

The Pixel range is in the Black Friday sale (at least here in the UK). The 9 Pro XL is now £944.05. The Pixel Pro Fold is down to £1,361.55

Not bad really, and then there is the Pixel Tablet, which is down to £374.05

I tried the pixel 9 pro xl it’s super nice and highly recommended but for me my diabetics app did not work back to apple.

I’ve been debating whether to go from the iPhone 13 Pro to the Pixel 9 Pro rather than iPhone 16 Pro but am concerned that the former seems to have considerably poorer battery life compare to the latter at least according to what I could find online. What’s the reality on this?

It seems to me for some reason and I could wrong, but it seems that battery life is more dependent on the unit itself rather than the series. I have new iPad's where some of them have stellar battery life and others I can see them drain much faster. My iPhone 13 (iOS 18) has solid battery life but left on idle for long periods of time, I suffer unexpected battery drain.

When I owned the P9P the battery life for me was fantastic. It was all day about 8 hrs of screen time. However there are some here who have posted not so great results. That's why I think it sometimes boils down to the individual device.

My advice is to try it during the Holiday return window where you have a couple of months to decide if the P9P meets your criteria for battery life. I returned my P9P because I still have a P8P which I still love and the performance was somewhat close. So I will wait till next year for the P10P.

update. I returned it. Camera dust was found
I'm being completely serious here, did you try pounding the phone on a thick carpet several times? I had a Xiaomi 14 that had a dust speck smack in the middle of the ultrawide lens that created a dark spot in all photos taken with that lens. I was getting no warranty support anyway so figured what the hell 😂😂. Gently but forcefully pounded the phone into the carpet maybe 5-10 times. Dust speck gone. I couldn't believe it worked.

Watching the Black Friday deals and pixel gold are down to 1500. I saw a used one pop up for 1100! By march it will be under 900 for sure!

Didn’t see this coming.
I was able to get all mine off the phone

This is my next phone, if I have enough by them get the 9 pro I will get it if not ill wait for the Pixel 10.
That's what I plan to do. I got the P9P XL and it is a beautiful looking phone, battery life was solid but performance wise I saw little difference between that and my P8P, so I returned it. So i'm going to try and not be tempted because I have $540 in store credit, 10% off coupon and another possible trade in. I hope I can be disciplined enough to hold off for next years P10P XL.

Do you guys think Google will introduce a new colour (for the Pixel 9 lineup) half way through its life cycle? like they did last year with the 8. Last year was the green colour and it was a nice looking version 😍

i can only see pixel 9 pro fold for £1,448

i've pulled the trigger on the pixel 9 pro fold. think i will be selling the pixel 9 pro XL and one plus open and having the fold as my all in one device for everything pixel.

This is what I’ve got when adding to basket, not a bad deal to be fair. If it wasn’t for the fact that I already have the S24 Ultra as my second phone, I would definitely buy the 9 Pro XL has my second phone.
