Ordered full screen protectors from Mobilefun. Delivery is due in next 2 weeks.
Will go naked with only Whitestone protection.

I have yet to order the phone itself as Pre-order are not launched in Currys UK or EE yet. Hopefully, pre-order will start on 30th May with Trade-in available for my P7P.

That's a good call really.

My expectation with fold compared to P7P is lower on performance. I just hope that software AI computation on camera result and battery would be fairly ok to compensate for screen estate with nice Aspect ratio and Google magic on multitasking.

So hoping not to return. May be I am just asking for too much

Yes I'm treading lightly although I'm truly excited .....but I will settle for minimal compromises...I got one case and a skin so far and if I do return the phone then someone will get a gift haha

Anyone familiar with this brand?

Yeah pitaka is a really good brand. I haven’t used one myself as I don’t usually like cases but this I may have to get so I can use my MagSafe accessories.

Anyone familiar with this brand?

I've bought their slimmest case for two iPhones and have been very happy with both. My last case had minor QC issues: the "lip" of the case reaches in towards the display a little further on one side, but hardly noticeable and I soon stopped thinking about it; and the protective frame around the camera lenses came off but after three drops, I could superglue it back but have been too lazy.

Bottom line they are great cases, truly the thinnest I've ever handled. And I've dropped my phones a bunch of times right on a corner, with no damage at all to the phone, minor dent on the cases. I love the texture of the material, just the right amount of grip. Feels and looks very premium.

I am in. Ordered 512GB from Currys UK.
With amidst all noises on use of Tensor G2, efficiency and Battery usage, I made a little bit of sense in meself saying they are running on M13 flexible display and finally bite the bullet.

I'm a huge Nexus / Pixel fan, but for whatever reason this Fold phone does zero to excite me or interest me. Any of the folding smartphones just don't pull me in, or make me think of getting one. Am I missing something?

I still have hesitation of dropping slab and going for fold. Slab has so many plus sides in addition to pocketability.

Only thing I am interested for foldables is multi tasking. I used to use 12L beta on P6P and saw the potential and achievables from multi tasking. 12L multitask feature is quite limited on P6P screen estate.

I would need to close eyes on losing of pocketability in my jeans pant with foldables and that's the biggest pain I will suffer. My SOT is quite little so hopefully foldables will deliver the on-point execution whenever it is needed.

I was just thinking about you today, bro where has he been? I was saying to myself…. I hear you’re not. Everybody can get into the foldable’s most people prefer the slab…

Only phone interesting me this year is the Pixel 8 Pro mostly because its rumored to have a FLAT display.

I'm starting to get phased out on new smartphone releases lately. I got the Pixel 7 Pro last year, upgrading from the 6 Pro, and could barely tell the difference, was a side grade at best.

And the iPhone LOL no thanks, it's like the same exact phone year after year after year, with iOS still feeling like stuck in 2010.

Wish there was a third alternative, a good Windows Phone comeback.

I'm not a Windows phone fan but I understand be nice to have something else... Pixel 8 Pro with flat screen and hopefully gen 3 chip sounds good .... I'm truly enjoying the S23U to me I think it's the best phone out right now..

For me its the engineering behind it. How we are able to carry a phone and tablet in our pocket... I think people tend to gloss over that. I was once at a drive thru and someone was in disbelief asking "are you carrying two phones?"

And when I stopped to show them how it folds.. it's as if I was showing them a magic trick. But I'm a fan of the Galaxy Fold with the amount of multitasking features it has along with stylus support. And with Google presence in the foldable space... its bringing better tablet optimization.

At this point, we nearly reach the plateau of what we can expect out of slab phone and that's where foldables come to mind (imo).

I feel there are still factors holding foldables back.

1. Price.

2. Lack of dust resistance.

3. Weight and size.

While cheaper than the starting price of OG Galaxy Fold, foldables in the West start at $1,800 and that is simply too much for most consumers. Carrier deals/trade-ins can help in this regard.

To date there still is no dust-proof foldable and that is something OEM's really need to strive for.

The Huawei Mate X3 is 239 grams. Essentially identical to an iPhone 14 Pro Max. So in that regard we are making great strides. (The GPF is super heavy at 283 grams.)

But overall, yeah, there are still huge advantages when it comes to slab phones. Foldables are still super niche devices and that won't change for a few more years.

I am not sure I have got that long left, I can't wait to see some of these devices, I am so excited. Whether it be the Z fold 5 or the Pixel Fold, I just can't wait. Truthfully, for my time left on this earth, a complete waste of money, but, goodness me, give me a chance, let me have a go with one of them. Chemotherapy starts soon (I hope), really looking forward to it. Even my wife who is totally against these things is willing these on.

Can I just say though, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, has been the pleasure of owning, just wonderful.
