Ive seen other videos say all day battery, like 10 hours. Depends how you use it i guess
He put it on 60hz10 hours? That’s seems impossible on G2. Not even my 14. Pro max gets that.
If the Samsung fold is any comparison you won’t need to wait to December. The fold 4 was selling on Swappa for $1100 or so within a month of release. Some of that probably relates to Samsungs generous trade in deals but I think this will be available on Swappa for a significant discount very quickly unless supply is very low.I've went through a few reviews for it and I'm not sold on it for $1,800. I'd gladly get one once it's on sale for $1,300 or so. I'll check back in December or so to see if it's available on Swappa.
Yup yup agree and also Instagram just does not look good on these foldables ..Even with the short comings I think if you’re going to spend money on a foldable I think pixel fold ticks a few important boxes for me which is camera and front display.
Twitter and how that looks is a massive downside though so if I was to use twitter on the fold it would need to be the front display.
Valid point. I forgot that Google is also including the Watch with it. So, maybe others will sell the device by itself for cheaper; however that won't be the case is Google is struggling with inventory. Some would look at this as an opportunity to make money on them.If the Samsung fold is any comparison you won’t need to wait to December. I’m sure some will try but I don’t see anyone paying over msrp on Swappa.Valid point. I forgot that Google is also including the Watch with it. Yikes.
What a total letdown. The aspect ratio, which should be the biggest advantage of the Fold series, is actually an issue because of Android's lousy implementation of third party apps with foldables. I thought Google would work with some of the biggest third party apps to finally nail this on their own hardware but alas, no. It's the same issues we saw with the Oppo Find N series. Such an absolute shame.
The weight, inferior speakers, and dimmer screens compared to the Fold 4, also bother me a great deal.
I was really hyped for this device but it looks like a mixed bag. Reading and watching the reviews I think the only thing Google nailed was the outer screen. Everything else is a mixed bag at best.
This is a thoughtful review and take but I think this comes down to personal preference. The author complains about having to rotate the phone for web browsing but not having to do so for media consumption (whereas its the opposite on the Z Fold). For me personally, I don't mind rotating the phone and I prefer the landscape as default mode as media is a big deal to me. Having owned all of the Z Folds to date, I found myself using the front screen a whole lot more than the inside screen day to day. This author says he prefers to use the inner screen but for me, I expect to use the outer screen most of the time. So again, my preference is that the wider front screen is a significant upgrade from the Z Fold.I don’t find it a letdown …we pretty much getting what we expected tbh …3rd party apps need to get on board still and this was not going to be resolved by release …speakers I have to see in person and screen brightness has always been lower on Pixel phones …the most important thing is improvements along the way …weight of the phone I take it with a phone when closed with no gap ..they nailed the design for sure …lol

Depending on your preferences, the complaints lodged in this article may actually be features. Just depends on how you plan to use the device.
I’m with you closed on the go usage will be a big plus for my daily usage …
This I feel like most of the usage is going to be closed so the battery life should be good there on that front and hopefully with future updates battery life will be tweaked.
Yea man definitely see improvements just like other Pixel phones with updates ..and for me don’t have to be best battery out there just good enough to run with as my daily …
The problem is that on Android, standby drain is the silent killer. So using the front screen more doesn't really help with the battery life. I'd say on the Z Fold, I used the front screen 75% of the time and still got poor battery life. I always wondered how is it possible that such a small screen can drain a big battery so fast. Well, it doesn't. The standby drain does. I've seen a couple of reviews mention standby drain and that is indeed a major red flag for me. While Android devices can do decently well on video run down tests and web browsing tests, the real test is how they handle 16 hours off the charger with combined use of phone calls, push email etc. In that area, they fall well short of iphones. At this point, it is what it is. I expect the P Fold to need to be charged every afternoon to make it through the day. This I feel like most of the usage is going to be closed so the battery life should be good there on that front and hopefully with future updates battery life will be tweaked.
Disagree. You aren't spending more for less. You are spending more for more. There are trade offs. If you want a foldable device AND top specs, then it won't be $1799 - it will be $2099. So I think what you are seeing is the manufacturers are realizing that there is a price ceiling here and if they try to do it all, they are going to hit the ceiling. Just my two cents. Also, at this stage of the game, last year's processor and camera set up are more than good enough unless you are purely hunting for specs.I think we're getting to that point now where I'm not going to ever consider a foldable unless it also has top end specs on par with the S23 Ultra. Whether it's the Pixel or Galaxy Fold, spending more money for less of the things that are most important to me (Camera, Bright Outdoor Display, App Compatibility) just doesn't make sense when I already have the best phone out there in my pocket.
Goes without saying that if you are going to own this phone, definitely buy insurance. That's part of the deal for this and the Z Fold.RIP to my Pixel Fold: Dead after four days
The closed display halves almost touch, and that can smash debris into the screen.arstechnica.com
When users request top of the line specs on a foldable... not sure if they are prepared to pay the price for it. At the end of the day... the main draw is having a phone+tablet, I can't find myself going back to a slab phone.Disagree. You aren't spending more for less. You are spending more for more. That's what I'm saying. I'd rather it cost $2,100 and have the very top end of everything.Disagree. You aren't spending more for less. You are spending more for more. There are trade offs. Got it. I suspect that you are in the minority on this. At some point, if it drives the cost up too far, the phone won’t sell. The differences between chipsets year to year is minimal as it relates to actual real world performance. That's what I'm saying. I'd rather it cost $2,100 and have the very top end of everything.
