Ok so the biq question I'm dying to know after having the device for a few days.

Anyone thinking of returning the Pixel Fold and waiting it out for the OnePlus Fold?

Funny you ask because for me and my normal use, better than the fold 4 by a noticable margin. When I get home from work I'm usually around 40% on my battery with the fold 4. Only had one work day so far but when I came home I was at 58-60% and that's with my normal use.

Still have to see how it goes but so far it's way better. Also, everything is snappier with this OS. I know the tensor 2 chip is apparently pretty old but everything works much faster so far. It's very slick and smooth. I've loved the Samsung folds for years but this really shows how sort of amature the One UI is.

Edit: Amature might be harsh and I do love the Samsung folds but this OS feels very apple-like in its smoothness. Its very noticeable.

This is good to hear...

IMO it's like Apple's processors. They may not be the most powerful in tests; but they manage the software the best and that's what Google's chips do too, IMO

For an every day user like me, not a gamer or power user; it'll be more than up to the task/capable

Reading a lot of reports that the phone gets noticeably warm during normal activity. That’s a shame but totally expected. Tensor chips just aren’t ready for devices in this price range. Even if the performance is good enough, the thermal issues with it are going to destroy battery life.

I've not come across any heating with my daily use... I've run Android auto which usually runs the battery a little bit but the phone has been okay with no heat.. I don't play any games but I do watch Netflix and YouTube also. No problems so far

Seen plenty of comments where folk have said the same. Very little heat issues / it getting hot through usage etc...

It's the first Fold. It's going to have teething problems. This is how they get ironed out through real world usage and feedback!

Yup definitely a few issues to be expected …and I think we all agree would’ve been nice to start with the G3 chip for this phone with more improvements

Only time I have experienced it getting hot was the initial setup which is to be expected. Even my S23U gets warm during the setup process or when gaming.

When do y'all think pixel fold 2 comes. Is that a year, or 2 years out?
I'd guess it's already in the works and will be released same time next year. I'll be keeping this one and getting the Fold2 when it's released. Likely skipping the iphone this year and the S24 in the spring.

I wouldn't mind a mid-cycle processor update to the Fold during the winter. This way they could have both of their flagships on the same processor. You'd think they would have want their most power intensive smartphone on their latest and greatest chip.

Then again...it's Google...

I see that Amazon has the Pixel Fold preorder up, finally. The delivery date is the 18th-19th. The Google Store has the same delivery date - as does Verizon. It seems like, if you weren't an early adopter, July 18th is when this phone will be widely available. Maybe Google really did use the early adopters to gauge how much interest is in this phone. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You using a case or running it naked? Sometimes a case masks it.

If not, that’s good news.

Okay if we're thinking a new fold each year, then I guess I'll upgrade with fold 3 lol. I like to keep my phone's for 2 years minimum

Nope. I'm not a fan of OnePlus. Also I just love the Pixel software experience and it should only get better with future updates. It really is the closest thing to an Apple experience on Android for better or worse.

Yep. July 18th is the "official release date."

Google
Target
Verizon
Amazon

All are showing available on July 18th.

Also, today is the last day for you guys to get a free Pixel Watch along with the Fold in the Google Store.
