Out of curiousty, I tried to use the new 20% code Google gave me after I queried why my original one didn’t work with customer services.
This one works… but it can’t be used in conjunction with any other offer. The website classes the free Pixel Watch as a second offer, so charges you for the watch too rather than giving it as a freebie…

I personally don’t care for another watch. I already have the Pixel Watch which I wear every day and the hassle of selling one I could do without. Trading in my 7 Pro, plus the 20% takes the Fold down to £900 ish. That’s without the £139 I will get back being a Google 1 Subscriber. I have also just noticed that Google give you 10% off the total of the order (before trade in) rather than the total cost of the item. Sneaky sneaky!

I think I am going to preorder as the worst case scenario is I don’t like the device, but I could sell the phone for more than I’ve paid in cash and just buy the 8 Pro when that comes out If it goes that way.

In fact, I’ve just placed my order. :)
Now to wait til it’s out (again) in the UK. It says 22-29 August, so will enjoy playing with my Flip a few more days before I inevitably return it :p and then back on the 7 Pro til I need to send for trade in.

Couple of pics from the lake. Phone held up well. Even got dropped in the water without being harmed. Love having a foldable with a pretty good camera.

Thought I'd give a quick update on my experience so far after just a few days.

TL;DR - I'm keeping it and really enjoying the experience so far. It's not my daily driver (iPhone 14) but it's definitely supplanted the iPad Mini which will likely sold off to help cover the cost of the Fold. ;)

Mostly spending time now navigating my typical pitfalls of trying to find 3rd party software alternatives to the native Apple or Apple platform only apps I typically rely on (i.e. Reminders, Notes, Fantastical) but I think since I'm not trying to move exclusively to an Android daily driver, there will just be things I keep exclusive to Apple. Having Spark on Android has removed one previous annoyance so that's been a welcome change from the past.

I think the Fold is going to be a nice replacement for the Mini while offering even better portability and some time back in the Android world.

@jamezr Intrigued to hear your thoughts on the Fold! How is it treating you?!
well...I returned the GPF today. It is a an awesome device but it just wasn't for me. I could not get past the shorter form factor to be honest. The button placement seemed out of place for me due to the shorter form. I was always hitting the buttons. I love the whole Pixel software experince and will get the Pixel 8 Pro if it has a flat disaply.

It seems a lot of the app I want to use when the GPF is unfolded just are not ready yet as well. But that is for all foldable phones including the GF too.

The hardware was top notch! Fit and finish is right up there with all other flagship smartphones. Quality device!
But it just came down to personal prefernce for me.

Haha it’s running great not seeing anything off …plus when I jumped in I figured I was one good reset away from back to current stable
Same here. I actually jumped in on Beta 4 a few days ago with no noticable issues, though I admittedly was just getting acquainted with Android 13 and haven't really noticed how it's different. 😉

Not going to lie, I love the slim form factor of the Fold along with the wider front screen. But I am just not gelling with it for some reason so tend to use my Samsung Fold 4 more. It's such as shame as ascetically the form factor of the Pixel Fold it much better, but the Galaxy Fold just feels easier to use.

Can't quite put my finger on it!

The longer I wait for this bloody thing to be released (again) in the UK the more I have my doubts about it myself.
I've never even seen one in the flesh, but I don't think I'd want to see one in a store anyway as they're often clamped down, covered in grime and you can't do much with it, so would rather see it for the first time new.

But I'm not sure if I will get on with it either. I'm going to keep my preorder as if I don't like it I'll just sell it and buy the 8 Pro when that comes out.

For my daily usage the Pixel Fold is tailored perfectly .. love a lot of things about Samsung but the form factor and all the Google stuff like voice dictation and screen calling and dialer options just hits for me …and it’s smooth ..yes there are things I wish were better and by no means it’s for everyone…I just hope they stick with this foldable and improve on it …and update software to take advantage of it

I've just put my sim back in my 7 Pro and man. Stock is just soooo much better (for me) than Samsungs OS. Everything just feels so much slicker and tighter.
It's made me excited for my Pixel Fold again now. Is it the 22nd yet?! 😜
