Haha definitely for sure you are not normal around this section but I see you get great value and usage from your phone and set ups …I’m really excited for some improvements with the Pixel Fold line and the Galaxy …I’m also looking forward to Oneplus and possibly test driving their first entry in the US …

Ha, I have a Flip 5, Pixel Fold, and Pixel 7 (soon to be Pixel 8) in my work line rotation and iPhone 13 pro/mini in my personal line rotation. I will generally just trade them in when I can get a good deal to upgrade.

Phone I currently have but are just sitting in a drawer include: S22, Essential Phone, iPhone 4s, iPhone SE, Palm Pre 3. Of these only the S22 has any real value, so I will probably trade that in for the iPhone 15 pro and keep my iPhone 13 pro around for future trade in/back up phone.

Looks like the UK second release window has now changed from 22-26 Aug to 22-23, so fingers crossed I will receive on Tuesday next week. Felt like a loooong wait.

I went with Porcelain, despite saying I preferred the black. Not sure why I did that 😅. Time will tell if I like it or not!

Android 14 Beta 5.1 (August 2023)

This minor update to Android 14 Beta 5 includes the following fixes:

Fixed an issue that caused the system to stop detecting a SIM card if Fixed Dialing Number (FDN) features were enabled.

Fixed an issue that caused connectivity interruptions for devices with carriers using 5G standalone (SA) mode.

Fixed an issue for some devices where a blank home screen displayed after unlocking the device.

Fixed a performance issue by temporarily disabling feather-styled live wallpaper on Pixel Fold. The live wallpaper version will be re-enabled after the other underlying issues are fixed.

All eligible devices enrolled in the Android Beta for Pixel program will be offered an over-the-air (OTA) update to Beta 5.1.

I've had a notification from DPD (delivery company) to say they have my Google parcel!
However, I think it's just my case as I ordered the official Porcelain case from Google yesterday 😅.

Still, the Fold should be here Tuesday or Wednesday so not long to go now. Feels like it's been on preorder forever!

EDIT - Just had the dispatch email. It was the case. 😑😅

My problem with foldables is that I will likely not open it up much to take advantage of the extra real estate, but I can understand the appeal.

I might be in the minority here, but I want quick/easy access to my device and being able to put it right back into my pocket.

I am still one who prefers smaller screens as it is. I would like to see the new iPhone SE become the new iPhone mini...

I think that's one of the appeals of the pixel fold since the form factor is shorter and wider on the outside then the Samsung foldable.. so it's actually really good for on the go without having to open the phone.. definitely need to get more apps optimized for use of the inner screens ...

So looks like a couple more days to wait.
It works well if it's Wednesday - Thursday as my office days this week are Monday - Tuesday so I shouldn't miss it now if it's delivered.

Has anyone bought the official case for it? Any thoughts? Or are you rocking naked / 3rd party?

Latercase, 0 regrets. Perfect middle right between case and naked.

I can't stand cases nowadays without camera cutout. They now look ugly to me.

Ps: I added a metallic plate to mine so it's basically mag safe, I use it with my magnetic phone car holder. You can still wireless charge as well

Really like the official case, had it on since launch day.

Oh. My case arrived this morning and I've now had another DPD notification to say they have my Google parcel and will be in touch.
Looks like my Fold could arrive tomorrow after all... on my office day 😢.

Haha. Worst case scenario I can work from home 😜. Or reschedule the delivery til Wednesday. To be fair it may still not even come until Weds as they could have it but hold it. Not sure what the official "release" date is.
