I found another ATI overclocking util...

Here is what I found.

Core clock is running at 418.50
Core voltage is .850

Memory clock is 450.00
Memory voltage is 1.80

I/O voltage is 1.80

Nice, that looks pretty normal, maybe slightly underclocked, but a big jump from what they used to be...something like 300/275

Update on wireless....

Vendor is 168C (which translates to Atheros, same manufacturer)

Device id is 0024, which I could not find a reference to anywhere...so I am assuming it is a new adapter...

Download v1.02 from this page: http://www.dlink.com/products/support.asp?pid=489&sec=0#drivers

You may have to force-install (Pick the driver you'd like to install) if it doesn't detect it as a valid driver. However, it appears to use the same chipset so it ought to work. It is indeed an 802.11n chipset. :D

Yes, that driver does indeed work. Displays as a "D-Link RangeBooster N 650".

FWIW, I was able to discover an access point that was previously unavailable. Even when in OS X using that driver.

That's pretty interesting if that's the case, and those numbers are accurate. The original MBP's were severely underclocked, if I recall correctly (I think something in the 300/300 range).

Those numbers are still underclocked, but it sounds like it isn't underclocked as much.

If you can run 3DMark05 and 06, I'd be really curious to see what the numbers are, compared to the stock original MBP's scores.

Yeah, I think stock X1600's are supposed to be something like 470/470, so this seems pretty nice indeed, much closer to "normal".

Zadillo,

I will indeed run those for you...however...it is 12:30 am here, and I am heading to bed.

I tried to download them, but the downloads were going so slow, I cancelled them.

I will download them at work tommorow (later today) and install them when I get home, then post the results for ya...

I will check this thread at work all day tommorow and download any software, etc...and run them all when I get home...

Thanks for being patient with me...

Good night...see you on the flip side.

Cool, no problem, and thanks! If it helps, I'd recommend downloading from guru3d..... they offer a lot of different mirrors, but I usually had the best luck downloading from them.

OK ao I know this is wishful think but the signs seem to point to this conclusion. I've had my MacBook Pro 2.16 w/100gb harddrive for about 3 months. About a mount ago now while on a trip it just died. Apple says they replaced the screen, harddrive and possiblely the mother board. So I picket it up after the work was completed and got home for a few days and noticed they bent the case just above the CD opening. Which causes problems incerting a CD or taking one out. So again I take it back to the Apple store. I was told they were going to order me a new one to replace this one.

So here's the date like, Oct 9th bent reported and new laptop ordered, Oct. 13th managment sign off on the replacement of my laptop. They tell me it could take 7 to 10 business days to come in. Well Oct 27th will be the day business day mark.

I told the laptop will be shipped directly from China to the Apple store. So I am holding my breath to see if I get a new 15" Mac Book Pro Core Duo 2 with atleast 100gb and 2GB of ram.

So what should I expect to recieve? One like I already have? Or since they changed the lines already to make the new ones, get a new Core Duo 2?

The waiting is keeping me.

You'll get an "old" CD MBP, not a C2D.

Apple Store in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan -- a pretty damn big Apple Store, even -- didn't have the C2Ds. Oddly, they'd removed the price tag displays from all their MacBook Pros, and told me they didn't have any in stock, period. Which is very sad.

So I went to an electronics retailer where I have a point card (basically, you get 10% store credit on every item you buy); they're selling the MBP at the same price as the Apple Store; they already had the 15" and...the guy told me they'd "most likely" have the 17" in tomorrow.

Well, today is tomorrow!! So I might just have that 17" and be online at home with it in . . . four hours.

Yessssss

There is probably a good chance that uou will get the Core 2 Duo... becuase I know that if you place an order with Apple and they release an updated model before your ships that you automatically get the newer version... so you will probably get the Core 2 Duo one... but I am not sure... good luck with that

Can't wait to get mine....2.33 ghz/3 gb/200gb basically, totally maxed out....

It's gonna get here the day before a final paper is due. Hopefully that paper decides to write itself, because I clearly won't have the time.

Thank you, bcavanau for sharing your experiences w/ the new MBP! and congrats on being probably one of the 1st ppl to get one!

Please let us know how the battery is after you've calibrated it properly. Although i have a feeling it's not going to be any different than the CoreDuo MBP.... but let know anyway! :)

thanks and congrats again!

Just wondering, how do you "calibrate" the batteries properly? Any online resources would be greatly appreciated.
