dont worry guys im uploading my video on youtube.

this will stop people halucinating ipad wifi has a gps chip inside

The wifi on the ipad sometimes isn't strong enough to detect wifi-signals in the same building. But it's strong enough to get signals from nearby towers and triangulate.

Great isn't it?

Now.. if we could only transfer that power to the normal wifi-strength..

Since this has now been proven to have GPS, I think everyone that doesn't have the GPS chip should go back to the Apple store and demand they be given the updated iPad w/GPS. ;)

Please tell me you're kidding...

This has got to be the stupidest thread ever. Do you guys really think Apple wouldn't disclose the GPS chip to the FCC, or, withhold hardware from the FCC? And then, just magically throw it into a few iPads?

All it takes is a quick glance on Apple's site, the iPad keynote, or the iFixIt tear-downs to realize that this thread has gone on for far too long.

It's all about Skyhook technology... I've never supposed that Skyhook is so accurate in urban area. Better than GPS at some locations.
The case is closed ;)
Cheers for my stupidity :)

So, based on all of the above, an iPhone should be able to determine its position given sufficient wi-fi signals/cell tower triangulation, but with location Services turned OFF?

GO My way 2009 depends on the built-in Location Services of the iPhone operating system. You can navigate with iGO My way 2009 as soon as the iPhone receives the GPS signals, calculates the position and makes it available for the applications.

blah blah blah

So how much did iGo pay you for this very obvious spam reference to their app?
50 cents? A whole dollar?

Nevermind, this thread cheered me up after MBP letdowns and iPad release date slippage. Not laughed so much for days.:D

Cheers for having the balls to come back and admit you were wrong after being so emphatic about it the other day. :thumbs up:
