Green Button - Maximize, Not Full Screen

Does Apple have any plans to make this an option in system preferences to make the green button switch between that multitasking debacle known as 'full screen' and make it work PROPERLY like it did before and on other operating systems?

It's a pain in the padded ass having to see that super slow motion animation of the window going to full screen, and then again in slow motion to escape it.

Right Zoom worked wonderfully until Yosemite where a single click of the green button made the window enlarge to its maximum available area without hiding the file menu and dock.

Full screen functionality KILLS any ability to multitask, many of us switch between photoshop, indesign, illustrator, etc.

Holding alt/option on the keyboard is not a solution, I shouldnt have to play boxing with the keyboard on my other hand just to make OS X function the way it should.

Can you not double click the titlebar of the app (beside the stoplight buttons) to maximize? I think this works for quite a few apps, not sure if it works for everything.

That only resizes the window to some odd size. It should fill the screen without losing the dock and file menu. Full screen is ridiculous, how does ANYONE get work done in multiple apps like that? Does apple really expect users to go full screen, then out, switch to app, then full screen again, then out, then full screen just to move files, import, export, etc. when switching between apps? This is the dumbest, counterproductive implementation Apple has ever done.

BTT I use on Mavericks, I love the snapping feature (especially in quadrants as I have many windows open at once).

However, a simple option, some kind of 'tick box' in system preferences would solve this problem.

Exactly, I hate full screen mode and wish there was an option without having to install a third party app.

I've already sent multiple complaints to Apple's feedback and will continue doing so on a regular basis until Apple finally implements this FIX.

And not just maximizing to the old way, I mean maximizing to the way that RightZoom does it (or essentially, the same way that MS Windows does it).

Rightzoom doesn't work in Yosemite. I've yet to know if it works in El Capitan (likely not).

Moom lets you do what you want, and more. And it works on 10.11.

Not a solution.

It requires an extra click to view the options of making it maximize. The RIGHT solution is to click the green button ONCE and have it expand just like it does in MS Windows.

LOL, still doesn't address the problem, it's just a work around.

If you're waiting for Apple, it'll be the highway as they have decided this is the right way. So use the workarounds people offer you to your advantage. It's the best you are going to get.

No, I want the OPTION in system preferences to set it to work as it should, so that people with weird working habits like yourself dont feel like they're being snubbed rather than have it as it is currently; Apple's Way or the Highway, which you support.

Options, in other words, CHOICE, is a great thing and I've noticed that Apple and its users have a very hard time understanding this concept.

1) Full screen
2) Maximize
3) Fit content
4) Snap left
5) Snap right
6) Snap top

I simply never use full screen because it's useless, slow, laggy and prevents you from doing anything else other than that one app. Just Alt+Click on the green button or double click the title bar to get the old (also horrible, in my opinion) feature where the window randomly becomes a totally random shape and sized based on no logic whatsoever. I just think Apple should just remove the green button altogether as they have no idea what to do with it.

I'm sticking to Mavericks for as long as I can. I have no intention to move to anything newer until Apple takes their head out of their ass and starts doing it right. They recently boasted about window snapping and everyone loses their mind but when Apple goes ass backwards on functionality like this, nobody cares as if to say;

'Well, Apple decided on it, therefor it must be right'

No matter how boneheaded Apple's decision has been, everyone just nods their head up and down without question.

by the way, rightzoom DOES work on yosemite - i'm using it 'right' now just fine!

How? I can't get it to work, and read reviews on Macupdate that it's lost its functionality onn Yosemite.
