With so many phones being made in a short period this is always going to happen.

Even without the time and amount of phones that will always happen. No production process is perfect even with all the checks.
 
Thanks everyone for the sympathy in this matter. Many have said to head to Apple and all will be sorted. I am definitely doing that. If the problem didn’t present itself right before midnight local time I’d have been at my local store already. As it is now, a few minutes before 7am, I’ll get ready to head there for opening at 9am.

Will post back here how it all goes!

Apple store replaced the bad unit with a fresh one.
The genius had not seen this occur before (obviously since so new) and another guy said this is their first faulty unit of an iPhone X!
Unfortunately this meant no go on a free case or anything but so be it!

Great service from the team as well for what is my first Apple product issue!
 
Me too, now I have to make a 2 hour drive to the Apple Store on a Sunday.

there were 2 phones on display at the apple store that had this line on it. the apple guys said they will be replaced monday with new ones

Glad it worked out for you. My 8 had a screen defect on launch day and I got a new one right away to replace it.

I had the same issue! Went to the nearest apple store (1 1/2 hours away) and replaced it. Was the last unit they had! Lol

Apple were fantastic about it when I took it in so fear not!

Excactly like your picture! But get this, before I get to the Apple store I decide to go ahead and use it, set it on a wireless charger a friend has to try it out and the line went away. So will see what they say
 
I wonder if it might be a software bug. If anyone else experiences this, try rebooting to see if it goes away. If not, try a hard reset. Be sure to report back.

Hard reboot had no effect, it’s there whenever the screen has power.
