So is there a "pure" Samsung Touchwiz ROM I could flash onto this Google S4?

I happen to like Touchwiz personally but not the bloated software.

The ability to go back and forth from stock to Touchwiz would be pretty amazing.

I would imagine it would come. Since it is just being announced today, by launch there will most likely be something.

I'm pretty sure there's already a debloated touchwiz rom that you can flash right now.

Those who already have an S4 are so lucky. You pretty much have a top of the line Nexus in your hands as we speak. As soon as updates roll out for the aosp S4, you guys will have a stable build in a matter of days.

This is awesome. For once, a stock Android device will have class leading specs. Bye bye HTC. Samsung just cemented their dominance in the market place.

Which kinda sucks....I mean, doesn't it seem like Google is saying "F U" to all the other OEMs?

Another reason why I don't get this move.....excited about it, but still intrigued by the reasons and implications.

Yeah this is how I feel as well. I don't know why htc couldn't have brokered a deal with Google considering how easy they get in bed with everybody else.

Alas, I guess they only flirt with ugly chicks (Facebook)

Even when it's available in the UK, you can't order it from the Ireland store, even though google are based in Ireland for everything european. Get's quite frustrating.

Don't get me started.

That's a shame and makes little sense... silly Google. Surely it can't be too hard to get one imported from England though?

Too many hoops to jump through. You need a UK credit card and and you might even need to use a VPN or proxy to make it look like you're in the UK.

Not really. I'm sure Google would have allowed HTC to do the same, but Samsung stepped up to the plate, spent the $$$, and released the S4 with stock Android. The fact that we can choose between a TW or Stock model is awesome.

I bet we'll see some sort of hybrid ROM come out in the fall, with S4-specific gesture features over traditional Android.

Good Security!!!

I am very impressed with the security surrounding this device. It only was rumored a day or two ago. Loose lips sink ships!! Samsung and Google kept a lid on this one!!

So true. We never see leaks this late...literally 24 hours before. I'm assuming it has a lot to do with the fact the s4 is already manufactured. Most of these leaks occur b.c of people at the plants.

Sucks I'm waiting on a gs4 to come in the mail but not a big deal as it will be cake to just blast a pure bread image on my bloated gs4

I don't think he was referring to that .. He probably means getting it via someone in the UK.

Yup, it's great that Samsung didn't bother to make another phone. They just decided to swap out some software. I don't even think a lot of time is needed to get a stable build of the firmware. All they have to do is get a dump of a stock S4 and slim it down a tad and upload the zip file up on XDA.

Have to say I was skeptical about this rumor and didn't think it would happen. Definitely glad to see stock Android on a flagship device, just wish it was the HTC One. Removing TouchWiz significantly improves the GS4 in my eyes but I still personally don't like the build materials and feel of the device. Don't think I'll be trading my Dev version of the One for this.

However, I have very little willpower when it comes to shiny new tech toys so by late June I may have a done a complete 180. ;)

I'm looking forward to an AOSP port to the Verizon S4. I just might switch back to Android for an AOSP S4. That would be excellent. :D

...now if only it could be made with better materials, a 3300+ mah battery, LCD screen front facing speakers and a Wolfson DAC. (The HTC One is nice, but surprisingly, the S4 has a stronger signal)

Lol, the "Nexus" GS4 will be replacing my Nexus 4.....still keeping the One

I was skeptical as well....but I'm actually quite excited. I've wanted to check out Samsung, but TouchWiz has ALWAYS turned me off. This'll give me the "best of both world's" as far as Samsung with vanilla android.

Don't know if it'll take my HTC One's place at the top of my smartphone list, but it'll definitely move into the top 3, maybe even top 2 (that is until WWDC 2013 and the 5S).
