Hennesie, what is the 1% missing from native support? Sorry, I know curiosity killed the cat....

The only reason I said that was because you are still using a modified boot.efi so it isn't 100% native like a 3,1 would be. It is however the closest to being officially supported as it is going to get.

hey Hennesie2000, thanks for your help. I got Mavs running on my MP. The bit about fixing the BOOT0 error was what I needed to get it working.

Still have to figure out why it won't wake from sleep, but I'm sure it's something in my chameleon config.

don't thank me, it was wwanthony that provided solution and the boot1h file needed.

It basically comes down to what curve balls, if any, the OS updates will throw at us. Like Tiamo said, the 10.9.x updates could overwrite the boot.efi without notice and then there's the matter of if the updates themselves check to see if we're running an officially supported machine.

Hello pals! I have a macbook white 4,1. I am a bit confused, although I tried to read the whole topic. Can I install Maverics on this mac and if yes what are the cons (slow graphics?) and where can I find a guide to install it? Thank you!

Still wait for tool install on my MBW 07

Only thing you can do about it is contacting the developers of MLPF as they already announced some time ago that they are making major process. Probably they won't give any ETA but they might give some feedback what's their current state of development.

Mavericks on Macmini mid 2007: It works but without WIFI card

As i wrote some post ago, i managed to install Mavericks on my Macmini mid 2007, thanks to Tiamo's Boot.efi. Anyway, despite the great help from NotLordXenu and his kext, WiFi still works only OPEN.
Some one else know any solution?
And what's the Atheros21?
Thank you very much... :)

Google search is your friend. I found all sorts of threads with people having trouble with old Atheros cards not working in 10.9. Without having a card to test myself, that's all I can say to help you.

hi everyone i have a mackbook 4.1 with MLPF in 10.8.4 has anyone a workaroun to install 10.9 my graphic card is x3100

thnx alot

If you can the easiest way would be to put the 2,1 drive in the 3,1 and update to 10.9. Then use Tiamo's boot.efi file to replace the two on the newly updated 2,1 drive. Once back in the 2,1 it should just boot as 10.7.5 did.

Thank you very much Hennesie2000! I'll try that and report here!

Thank you :) Anyway i set Wep password on my reuter and now everything works :)

Anyway, i used Geekbanch to verify my mac speed boh with Lion and Mavericks and i found that it si faster with Lion... :( Is it normal?

Mavericks Install Guide

Hello everybody,

I just updated my install guide.

Thanks to Tiamo you will now get a 100% working Mavericks Installation on your Mac Pro/Xserve. (Now you'll have iMessage/Facetime/Dictation due to nvram support.)
Thanks to some other posters I corrected the guide to not run into the "Still waiting for root device" error. (Sorry did not find you in the thread.)

I now included the Mavericks download enabler to create a more comfortable way to download the installer from the AppStore in case you don't have a compatible Mac.

The guide will work on ANY* 32bit EFI Mac having a 64bit CPU, but only on MacPros (and Xserve?) you will get working graphics (if you have a newer generation GPU installed).

*You may face problems with incompatible hardware such as WIFI cards (and of course GPU)

EDIT: Updating the Mac may not be possible through the AppStore, when upgrading (maybe using a ComboUpdate/DeltaUpdate.dmg) you need to restore the included boot.efi and your SupportedMachine.plist BEFORE rebooting!

EDIT2: There's a better method available now! Forum member oemden just released app (script) that automates the process.
You still might want to download my guide, as it includes the Mavericks download enabler (else you can't even download Mavericks from the AppStore on your unsupported machine).

Hello, for white macbook 4,1 is compatible this guide?!

It's clearly stated, isn't it?

I am a bit confused so I want to be sure. Thank you! Is it tested in this mac, are the graphics are slow or other problems?

If you don't have a MacPro/Xserve with upgraded GPU graphics will be slow.
Wifi issues may occur. Therefore some testing is required (this only applies to wifi connectivity, everything else can be set a general statement without further testing).
No proper graphics also implies that you can't enter sleep.
Also, as your Mac has a 64bit EFI you probably won't need to replace the boot.efi file/The guide won't work at all.

All you can to is test it.

flakey USB on Mac Pro 1.1 running Mavericks.

Firstly, you guys rock and i can't thank you enough. I connected my MP1.1 in target mode to my newish MBP and installed Mavericks. Replaced boot.efi and it boots perfectly. I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB which seems to run fine. The only flaw i have found so far is in the usb. My apple keyboard, mouse, wacom tablet run fine and show up in profiler but every usb flash drive i have won't mount. They have all been tested and work in ML and Mavericks on the MBP and they mount and work in snow leopard on the MP1.1. Everything is on in finder prefs, they don't show up in profiler or disk utility. Any thoughts?
Also, any benefit in upgrading firmware to be a MP2.1?

That all sounds chinese to my ears! I ll give it a try and I will see. Thanks

not just slow graphics….it is unusable graphics

unless you are using it for a server or just email or something it will be unusable

my install went just fine on a 2006 MBP x1600...you should do it just to see for yourself

Mac Pro 2.1

Hello everyone, I've been trying to install Mavericks on my Mac Pro 2.1 for a few days with no avail. I've found this thread and before i loose my mind i thought i'd ask the experts here if i'm just wasting my time.

I just bought a nVidia Gigabyte Geforce GTX 660 PCIe in hopes that it would work on my system. Get a black screen during bootup and nothing afterwards.

I'm running OSX 10.7.5 and i'm thinking that if i upgrade to 10.9, this might fix my problem. Am i wrong in thinking this?

SysConfig:
2 x 3GHz Quad-core Intel Xeon
8 GB 667MHz DDR2 RAM

And does the Chameleon method works on this particular configuration?

Please let me know at your earliest convenience because if i'm wasting my time i want to at least return the card.

Any help is appreciated.

Last failed method tested was the following: https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/18411621/

Did you install the nvidia graphics drivers for 10.7.5?
