I just got mavericks running

Hello ,
I just got mavericks running on a late 06 I mac 5.1 with 4gb ram and 2.16 core 2 duo 250gb hd.Graphics ATI Radeon X1600. It's running great but have no sound no audio device was found.
Any help to resolve this would be appreciated.
Thanks:apple:

Ok cheers, I need Mavericks for xcode 6 so luckily that seems to work, and I still have mountain lion one the other partition.

You could also try Yosemite for it - see here how to patch the Installer. Yosemite runs in my experience a little bit smoother than Mavericks. Unfortunately no graphics Kexts, at least the one for Audio from this Post (inside the Mac-Pro-Xserve.7z) should work. If you change the appearance (in System Preferences) to Graphite, dark menu bar & Dock as well as Highlight color Graphite too, then it looks quite decent and remembers a little bit at Nextstep ....

The Kext from this Post (inside the Mac-Pro-Xserve.7z) should work for Audio.

Do you have the ATI X1600 graphics running in full accelerated mode in Mavericks?

Thanks will try to get audio working videocard only shows up as 6mbites and it is a 128 board so probably not How Do I check?

Then it runs without graphics acceleration (Quartz Extreme / Core Image) - this means e.g. slow rendering of web pages in Safari, small graphics artifacts here&there, no device for Video Players and so on. If the graphics Kext is working, it should at least recognize the video memory with 128 MB.

Weird how you have the same mac as me but it runs smooth and mine doesn't. Il see if I have the audio problem when I get home, I never checked.

Cool il give it a try!

Hi everyone i have got mavericks running on my early 2008 4,1 macbook, with graphics kexts installed and everything working apart from audio :( does anyone have any idea how i can get this working as i have been searching quite a bit on line and the only thing that resembles it working is VoodooHD but it is very low volume and mic/headphones won't work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, all.

I have MacBook 4,1 Early 2008 with 64bit CPU and EFI.

Are there a tested and verified version of X3100 and ALC889A kexts for OS X Mavericks 10.9.5?

Also, is there a simple way to install Mavericks on MacBook 4,1 as far as it has 64bit EFI?

Thanks.

Thanks for the info it worked perfectly, now my Mb 4,1 has a fully working mavericks install!!!! :)

@jon8214: You say you have an MB4.1 with everything working. Does MB4.1 have an Intel GMA X3100 card with 128MB shared memory? Do you have full graphics acceleration on Mavericks when browsing, video file playback, youtube playback etc?? if yes, Could you please share the graphics kexts & bundles (5 files in total)??..
Thanks! :)

I have done an install exactly the same, you can use the SFOTT but DONT install the efi that comes with it as your Mb has 64 bit support already, once I've got Mavericks on it you need to install your graphics driver and then as I have literally just done install the audio Kexts and that will be you sorted

Great!
Can you navigate me where to find X3100 kexts?

Do you have sleep enabled on your machine?

Thanks.

I'm going to post them later when I finish work.

I'm going to take this opportunity to quantify 'working'-

Graphics and playing videos etc is working fine
Audio is working
Brightness buttons are not working
Sleep also isn't working but I'm going to have a look at that later

Hope this helps

Here the file for audio/ graphics for Mb 4,1 with X3100 graphics also a kext utility to install them.

Thanks for uploading - but it would be better to compress the files into a archive, each for Audio / Graphics.

Install was smooth on MacBook 4,1, no issues.

ALC889A audio controller is fully functional on Mavericks 10.9.5 with the kexts from the post above.

But, there is no graphics acceleration a.k.a Core Image/ Quartz Extreme.
Only X3100 framebuffer is loaded.

Is there any real kexts for GMA X3100, because it is useless this way.

Hi,

I used SFOTT and installed Mavericks in my Mac Pro 2,1 and also upgraded to 10.9.5 successfully.
One problem I have is how to do the file transfer from my 10.7 hard drive in my computer. I was successfully able to transfer “Applications” but when I tried “My old setting and Network setting”, the computer hanged at the start-up. Do you know what to do to solve the issue?

Thanks.
Regards,

So, in practice, this thread is only for Mac Pro machines.

MacBooks that use Intel GPUs, such as GMA 950/ GMA X3100, are totally out of the support list.
Apparently no one will compile 64bit kexts and respective OpenGL framework for these graphics processors.
It is very sad, because most 64bit CPU/ 64bit EFI MacBooks are capable of handling OS X GUI animations/ transitions smoothly.

As far as I see it, our only chance is to patch the mach kernel to allow 32bit kexts loading. Otherwise, there is no reasonable point for us to continue this more 60 pages thread.

Cheers.
