Are you able to upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion using this method instead of creating a separate ML partition? I'm looking to install this on my Macbook Late 2006 Intel Core2Duo
When I try to use MLPF it says that the install os mountain lion file not found?.....what is wrong? downloaded 10.8.4 from the bay of pirates (hope u understand) since 10.8.5 is not supported yet.... please help..no idea what to do[/QUOTE
You need the 10.8.4 .APP for MLPF to work. If you downloaded from the bay of pirates chances are very good that you got a .DMG file which is useless for what you are trying to do.
It's worked for me to run MLPF to make an Install drive from a Mac running 10.8, if that's what you're asking.
Successfully updated my early 2008 macbook4,1 to ML with MLPF, thanks to all the devs! I am not at all a tech savvy person, but the installation process was beyond smooth and easy. Everything is working flawlessly except for that the latest version of Chrome -- downgraded to version 27 and works like a charm.
Thanks again to hackerwayne, ML4all and everyone else who has contributed.
You all have saved me from having to buy a new mac. My six years old MB is feeling snappier than ever.
You have my greatest gratitude, sir!
As you probably have already confirmed your need to use MLPF, I apologize if my suggestion is not applicable in your case however as my MacBook Pro (2007) 3,1 is older and yet Mountain Lion compatible, I am wondering if your newer 4,1 MacBook can install OS X 10.8 without the need of MLPF ?
If I use this method to update to mountain lion on my mid 2007 MacBook, can I update to Mavericks as well?
What about iMac4,1 not Core 2 Duo upgraded, but still the old "Core Duo". Is there any support for at least Mac OS X Lion ? Does somebody know?
I think you need a C2D upgrade.....I did it on iMac 4.1 and now running 10.8.4. and it works better than Lion on this machine.
I also did custom firmware update because these models have RAM limitation on 2gb, so now(after upgrade) it can support 4gb.
Hello,
I have a quick question for Magarif as I do have an iMac6,1 (supporting 3GB of RAM although I have 4GB installed). Are you aware of any possibilities to have this support even more? Would an update in the firmware be possible and how do you do that?
To everyone, 10.8.5 does not show up as an update in the Appcenter as I am running ML4ALL with 10.8.4. Do any of you have the same?
Do we have an estimate on what the current development is on this project?
THanks
Z

Thanks for your time and answer. How can I upgrade my iMac? Are there any "Upgrade-Packages" available on eBay or so? Where can I buy such an upgrade? Thx again!
You can find some manuals on net how to replace CPU. http://www.maclife.com/article/upgrade_your_imac_core_2_duo_processor.
http://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/51699/Core+Duo+CPU+upgrade+to+Core+2+Duo+CPU.
It's not a big problem, it took about hour for me.....also you can buy CPU on eBay....models for this iMac are T7200, T7400 and T7600 (intel C2D of course).....name of these chips is Merom. Difference is in CPU speed....the best is T7600. I bought T7200 (cheap 20 euros = 17 dollars) and is very good...
Thank you very much! Just bought a T7200 for 45 Euros. I will write here, if I could upgrade the cpu sucessfully.
Thx
I am not sure...I think my MB is not compatible because of the x3100 graphic card? (really not tech savvy at all lol) I think the latest OS I can officially get on to is Lion. I am so glad there is MLPF!
Cool, post results....Also, if you have any difficulties feel free to ask....
Also read twice how to apply thermal compound on CPU.....because it can screw your CPU if it's not applied good....instructions are on page 8 in first link from my previous post........
One more thing, while googleing, I found this one

iMac4,1 and iMac5,1 Firmware Tool Released
I have NOT tested it, until now, but it it is maybe a cool firmware update: "This firmware upgrade removes the 2GB RAM limit, properly identifies the Core 2 Duo CPUs, and Lion will install and run just fine."
I've followed the tutorial pretty well (a couple of times actually). I'm running a Macbook 5,1 with Lion 10.7.5 and when I Install MLPostFactor and ML (in the applications folder) to the Install partition it works fine, but the next step of rebooting and holding option will not bring up the newly installed "install" partition as an option to boot from, even though I've verified the MLPostFactor install was successful.
