I'm a little disenchanted with my MLPostFactor installation. From what I've read, it seems MLPF uses a hacked kernel, and this means this isn't "really" Mt. Lion at all, but some kludgy hack that back-pedals Mt. Lion to something more akin to Lion. I think I should probably install Chameleon, and try to use the 10.8.5 Combo Updater to update my MLPF kludge 10.8.4 installation into a "real" Mac Mt. Lion 10.8.5 installation.
What would be the drawbacks if I have a Mt. Lion supported graphics card? I think there are only small risk, and big rewards, like having Software Update work again, and getting updates when Apple releases them.
The ONLY reason I can see for MLPF is for older laptops & iMacs that have graphics cards that aren't supported. I think my Mac Pro 1,1 with upgraded CPUs, firmware (2,1), and graphics card (HD5770) should run Mt. Lion perfectly in a "clean" state, only needing Chameleon to "allow" the boot process. This is true, isn't it? Isn't Chameleon a better solution for all unsupported Mac Pro users IF they have a Mt. Lion supported graphics card installed?
