Repair mountain lion partition, after booting into install partition.

No this does not help to me, but I was able to install 10.8.4 and 10.8.5 using MLPostfactor v0.3 after I erased all my partitions on my HD by mistake.
Weird, but I'm happy now with my xCode 5.0

Okay, i didn't read it. After the permission repair you should start MLPostfactor again and fix the new Mountain Lion partition. Oh a missed your new post. So it is working now.

MacPro 1.1 can enjoy ML without MLPF; it's a "simple" matter of deploying the EFI32 bypass solution and you're good to go on a totally vanilla installation! You can even enjoy Mav 10.9! You just need to ensure your hardware (especially your graphics card) is compatible, that's all.

I've not been able to connect to SMB servers either and The Master himself did confirm those connections were not working: https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/17844736/.

Yes. That's true.

After check the console log i found the following error message:

Request from non-root process 'netbiosd' (euid 222) to load /System/Library/Extensions/smbfs.kext - not allowed.

I realised that i need edit the /System/Library/Extensions/smbfs.kext/Contents/Info.plist file

So, i made a copy to desktop:
cp -p /System/Library/Extensions/smbfs.kext/Contents/Info.plist ~/Desktop/

and edit: sudo nano /System/Library/Extensions/smbfs.kext/Contents/Info.plist

and added the following lines:
<key>OSBundleAllowUserLoad</key>
<true/>

after that I restarted os-x and kext can be loaded but i found another error:

smb_gss_negotiate: Can't get gssd port, status 4

Any idea?

MacBook2,1 freezes before Loginwindow

Hey,
my MacBook white 2006 now always freezes with a spinning wheel just before the loginwindow should come up (see image).

What's wrong here?

Nothing in particular really.
I found I can sometimes boot into safe mode and then also restart normally.
But even that doesn't work always.

I also figured out that activating File Vault or automatic login (which both results in bypassing the login window, as File Vault logs you in before the OS boots), everything will be fine.
For some reason, loginwindow makes trouble here.

Recently I experienced the same. I just restarted and everything was fine again. However this might not fix it for you so you could try booting in safe mode or single-user mode and than fix permission and repair the drive (using disk-utility).

So I upgraded from 10.8.2 to 10.8.5 using MLPF.

However, I'm noticing some pretty crazy Wi-Fi issues. I can't connect to anything that requires authentication!

Anyone experience this problem?

EDIT: Quickly found the answer in this post:

Airparrot and MLPF

Hey, so I have had MLPF 10.8.4 working on my iMac 6,1 for a while now, big thanks to Hackerwayne. I installed Airparrot, which mirrors well. However, whenever I try to enable audio, it tells me a "driver" needs to be installed, and after granting permission twice, it installs AirParrotDriver.kext and APExtFrameBuffer.kext, then restarts. I have done this ad nauseum to no effect. I tried to delete the kexts with terminal and reinstall using Kext Utility, also to no effect. After emailing with Tech Support at Airparrot and sending them my logs, they told me this:

"[Airparrot] is not asking for the legacy audio drivers as I expected. It is possible that the way you have modified this operating system to run on different hardware that the AirParrot drivers just can not function. We do not have any legacy drivers that we can offer for AirParrot unfortunately as the ones you are using normally work on a standard 10.8.4 OS . . . . Sorry I wish I could assist more but your modifications to the OS seems to not let the AirParrot drivers run."

Has anyone else had this problem, or know of a fix? It would be great to get audio working with Airparrot's mirroring feature. Thanks in advance for any help anyone may be able to provide.

Any news on VNC problem with GMA950 on MacMini 2.1?

Hello hackerwayne,

I was just wondering if there is any progress on fixing the VNC problem on MacMini 2.1 with GMA950?
Connecting to my Mac Mini still produces a black screen, even though all the commands (mouse, keyboard) work, it just can't be seen...

I am using TeamViewer at the moment but it shoots the CPU usage through the roof. And, having to be connected through VNC hours at a time, I don't want to 'fry' my poor Mac Mini's CPU :)

I don't know if it has anything to do with MLPostFactor or not but I also have Lion installed on a different partition of my Mac Mini and VNC works fine...

Having the VNC working would make Mountain Lion perfect on my Mini...

Thank you very much for your hard work enabling us to use Mountain Lion on our older machines. Your work is very much appreciated !!!

Regards

soo, what about the Wifi-Issues with 10.8.5? Is anyone able to connect to a WPA2 Enterprise network?

I read about the hint to replace /usr/libexec/airportd to the 10.8.3 version. However it seems to me that MLPF already reverts to the 10.8.3 version (if you select 10.8.4). I compared the binaries, and the one after applying MLPF is identical to the 10.8.3.

Is it possible to go from Snow Leopard (10.6) straight to Mountain Lion (10.8)? Or do I have to go to Lion in between?

I've tried following these instructions, but the MLPostFactor app won't install on Snow Leopard. I'd rather not have to buy another OS just provide that "stepping stone" along, as you can imagine.

missing/transparent icons in ML 10.8.0/4/5 macbook GMA950

Hello i have a Macbook black 2006 2GB GMA950 and installed 10.8.4 via MLPostFactor.
After installing all is working very well even photobooth..only the wifi sometimes disconnecting itself. The only thing whats not good is that i am missing visible icons in the Dock, Programms and other places. I only see the names.
I have tried all the kill dock Terminal codes..i have tried all the fix permissions via Disk Utility in Lion, in MLPostfactor Installer boot mode even via kext utility. The problem still remains.
I thought it might be 10.8.4 but after installing 10.8.0 the problem reoccured.
Soo someone does know a fix for this that i might oversaw?
I have searched and searched..nobody with the same problem or fix.
I have put a little video on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnRDm1p7ixE&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Thank you in advance...

Try creating a new user account and see whether the problem persists.
If not you may try to delete (first rename) your /Users/~/Library/Cashes folder and/or your /Users/~/Library/Preferences folder.
If it's not solved I don't have any idea…
