Does anybody get any FIPS related messages during boot, or is it just me?

(You'll need to consult the system logs for the info).

No sign of FIPS related message in mine

----------

Can please explain a little more about what is your approach on fixing x3100 and when will it be ready? I can't really wait for it.

Well, apparently im putting that on hold once again cuz i don't have a system to test on. Its basically modified Lion framework files.

I'm fast running out of ideas here. I've just clean installed via a USB 10.8.2 to a brand new 512GB SSD, did NOT use migration assistant - just copied over my documents but dmesg still says ;
corecrypto.kext FIPS integrity POST test passed!
corecrypto.kext FIPS AES CBC POST test passed!

This thread is fairly long, so my apologies if this is already answered and I didn't see it.

I'm trying to find out if there is any way to download Mountain Lion onto my Mac Pro 1,1 via the app store. That is, is there a way to bypass the restriction on the download? I have an ADC account, thus a fully valid redemption code already in the system, but I simply cannot download the installer to begin the process of getting ML installed on my system.

Perhaps there's a way to trick the app store into seeing my MP1,1 as something else?

I have tried for ages to sort this but have to admit failure. I've been into all the files that the Appstore accesses looking for clues. They must be in there somewhere but it's gotta be hidden or at a very low level.

Download Parallel (trial) install Lion and download ML from there.

No sir, Apple's method is as simple as checking your systems serial number. No way to bypass it unless you use Chameleon, which i tested it and confirm its working.

Right, just realize you're the same guy i replied to on the other thread, now it MAKES SENSE.. Seems that you have high level FIPS encryption enabled on your Lion partition are you using firmware password? If no, you will need to boot Lion installer, open disk utility, select your SSD, go to partition and select 1 partition, format it into Mac OS X Extended Journaled. NOT case sensitive or encrypted.

10.8.2 problem

I just installed 10.8.2 that I downloaded from Software Update. Upon reboot I get the prohibition sign.
Can I fix my ML install or do I need to reinstall ML from a cloned partition?
Thanks.

It's certainly worth a try. I've tried everything else. I'm gonna install a fresh Lion from a valid, (unhacked), installer to a new partition and try it from there. It'll take an hour at least but hey......

Replace Mach_Kernel, Boot.EFI from 10.8.1 or 10.8.0
With regard to Mach_Kernel you are talking about the one located in the top level folder, (/mach_kernel).
As to boot EFI, there are two, /usr/standalone/i386/boot.efi and /System/Library/Core Services/boot.efi I'm assuming you mean just one or do you mean both?
That supplemental update doesn't appear to contain either file...??? ;

Today was my first attempt on installing ML on a MacBook3,1.
Installation was smooth, and the update to 10.8.2 also.

However, I had a problem with iTunes 10.7. After installing it with Pacifist (it wouldn't install the normal way), and after restoring mach_kernel and boot.efi (I'm not sure if it was needed, I'm just a noob to this), I can't get the system to boot in ML. Is this a common issue?

Generally, I didn't find the installation to be for every-day use graphic-wise although I followed the #1 post instructions to the t.

Where are they?

I'm trying to replace Mach Kernal and Boot efi after a failed update to 10.8.2.
I can find the Boot efi file but not the Mach Kernal. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Wayne sorry to keep bugging you about this, but it is also good public knowledge.

Does Apple check on their end the actual Serial Number burned into the hardware? Or is it the Hardware ID (UDID) found in System Profiler? From what I can tell UDID is the same as MAC Address.

How does Chameleon pass that as a valid /supported Mac?

I think its Serial Number and ModelIdentifier eg MacPro1,1, you can change the S/N with Chameleon You can't change that using default boot loader unless you have a special disc

Did you repair the permission? Otherwise it would not boot.

The permission repair didn't fix things. The problem is that at boot time it says amongst other things "Mac OS Version: Not yet set".
Well, the only thing I could do is a reinstall, but I think I will hold off it for now, until some proper graphics support is released.
I think I saw somewhere it is possible that there will be QE/CI support some time?

Damn! We should put up a Paypal link in your name to raise money for a used MacBook 3,1 or 4,1 off eBay or something. Couldn't be more than a few hundred bucks by now.

10.8.2 update

ML is flashing me a notice that if I restart it will install 10.8.2 automatically. If this happens, I will have to copy my extra ML partition back since ML will not boot when updated.
So, I am asking someone to walk me step by step through the Mach_Kernel, boot efi replacement. I know that several of you have tried to help me with this but I am a bit on the dense side.
Thanks.

Very Interested

Hi man!

I'm very interested about X3100 on MacBooks with Mountain Lion.

If you want, i have an Hackbook (really like MacBook3,1!) with X3100. With Lion QE/CI works very nice! But with Mountain Lion, i have only basic support (not fully QE/CI) - only resolutions and no glitches.

You can ask me to test kexts/patches for X3100, that's not a problem for me.

Last thing: i'm not a noob - stay quiet! :D

Bye

Any

No VLC and no DVD, because this x3100-64bit driver (MacBook) is not OPENGL support (Quartz Extreme) on Mountain lion 10.8.

Has anybody any idea?!

I have installed VLC 0.9.2 version which doesn't request OpenGL support to work. It works well for watching TV streams. I haven't tried it for DVD's, but I think it works. Try it.

Yes, replace your laptop or reinstall it with 10.7 (Lion)...

You're never going to see a fully featured, 64-bit kext for the x3100.

Me too! My Macbook 4,1 isn't used as much anymore, and pretty soon I'm going to be building a badass hackintosh that will replace my Windows Desktop and Macbook entirely. Plus I have multiple 2.5" HDDs for various testing available to me. So I'm ready willing to test anything you've got HackerWayne!

I'm not a noob either, but I'm not completely versed in this stuff. I can probably figure things out for testing purpose though.
