MLPostFactor V0.2.2 Beta Bug Report
1. iMessage issues/not connecting (only happens if you update from 10.8 > 10.8.3, clean install is always recommended)
2. mDNSResponder/Bonjour reported not working by some users
3. iSight problem with 20" iMac. (Unable to test, no such system available)

There's another issue, I'm currently facing. Using a 2006 MacBook Pro (2,2 - BTO 2,33GHz, 256mb VRAM) I experienced that it won't go to sleep on it's own nor when I try to do so manually (Apple menu/closing the lid). Trying so results the screen to turn off until you force to reboot. I had the same issue before using the old method by wayne but it was working fine following the manual by MLforAll (V3/V2 ?).

I hope you can fix this soon as this is the only thing left to be solved (at least to me).
Even the offscreen rendering issue (some games used to be affected) I reported earlier is solved now.

Anyway! Thank you for all the awesome work you did!

This has already been resolved in 0.2.2. Please do a clean install

Well... Actually I did a clean install. I reformated the partition using the disk utility included on the installation partition...

BTW, thanks for your instant reply.

I did a clean install of 10.8.3 on a MBP2,2 and it sleeps when I close the lid.

EDIT: I will add that I'm seeing the Bonjour issue that others are. But I don't care. I'm too overjoyed to have 10.8 on my MBP!

As I'm not aware of the mistake I did I will reinstall the system. (Having Bonjour working) - I'll report back.

Some more questions:

I think you cannot encrypt the boot drive as this would need the Recovery HD to boot the system. Am I right?

Is it possible to install and boot this on a BYO Fusion Drive?

This is amazing. Thanks for the hard work.

I installed 10.8.3 on a Macbook 2.1. iMessage and Facetime didn't work until I used this method:

Just did my MacBook 2,1 last night! To fix iMessage is pretty simple, this comes from my and others Hackintosh work on the subject back in January and is much easier on real mac since NVRAM changes are persistent across reboots. Use Terminal and type:

sudo nvram 4D1EDE05-38C7-4A6A-9CC6-4BCCA8B38C14:MLB=

and after the "=" you put your Mac's serial # followed by any 6 random digits of your choosing. It should be 17 digits all together. Then hit enter>type password>reboot>use iMessage :)

...but, I still don't have working bonjour or access to my Synology NAS or any other computers on my network.
Card Type: AirPort Extreme
Firmware Version: Atheros 5416: 2.1.14.9

Also, my numlock light is stuck on. The numlock works and everything but the LED is on all the time. A very minor issue but thought I would mention it.

iCloud, messages, FaceTime, back to my mac all work now on my MacbookPro2,2

minor issues I encountered:
1. LED of num lock is always on once pressed, but off after reboot.
2. iSight is with very low fps.
3. Disk permission is not able to be repaired.
4. Lots of disk root files are set to be visible, when I change their flags to hidden, it will stuck at boot. So I choose to leave them there.

Only isight problem really bothers me btw, hope there will be another awesome release in the near future.

Thanks Wayne and MLforAll.

MacbookPro2,2 installed ok, but also missing any Bonjour/mDNS functionality, meaning I can't connect to my printer. I'm also getting the error about being unable to repair permissions due to a lack of receipts, and thats also causing Time Machine to tell me that my system files (that I want to exclude from a backup) are only 514 megs. iMessage works fine, and I haven't tested the webcam since thats the least of my worries since the install is useless without print capabilities.

Disk utility being unable to repair permissions is caused if initial install gives "failed" message just prior to finishing, since the last step in install is writing the package receipts. You can run the BSD.pkg to make it work again, but this only give receipt for the few things it installs, so will usually complete without finding any permission issues but bring function back if it makes you feel better. For every package you run and install manually, you'll have more and more functionality from Disk Utilities permission repair, but also good chance you may mess something else up in the process if your not familiar with everything that's being installed. I'd recommend just the BSD.pkg as it's pretty safe, then running 10.8.3 update should get most of it working. I haven't actually tried 10.8.3 update yet as I just got home, so only educated guess on that part. Hoping Bonjour work as I couldn't figure that out after spending too many hours on it last night. Thanks to the Devs! :)

I found another minor issue, don't know if anyone encountered this.

I can't use the "mount it" from Toast to simulate a iso file as a real Disc anymore.

It happened on 10.7.2 or 10.7.3 before (fault of apple's side)

but I am sure 10.7.4 fixed this issue.

probably a noob question, but what is bonjour and mDNSResponder and what are the bugs that people are talking about that are related to them?

Bonjour an mDNS are services that enable auto-discovery of objects on a local network. In my case, my network printer broadcasts itself using these technologies to simplify setup. It's also used between machines; rather than having to remember a hostname or IP address to connect from one computer to the other, each machine broadcasts itself and automatically appears to one another.

Where?

I lost my 10.8.2 installer and am trying to find another one. I have a 2012 MBP so I should be able to download it and I did. Apple tech insisted that I put the new Install on a flash drive which I did. The flash drive is now invisible to my desktop but it shows up in Boot/Option Key mode.
So, after all that can anyone tell me where to find ML APP, not dmg or iso.
If this is off limits for discussion, I understand.
Thanks.

Apple made it so you can't simply download it and use it on any computer you own, just the one that came with it. Just download it from the Mac App Store for $19.99, it isn't that much money, and now mlpostfactor supports 10.8.3 :)

Actually heres the problem. When you install 10.8.0, you should select 10.8.0 option. Then after you're done, download the 10.8.3 combo, and then use disk utility to erase the "Install" partition. Put 10.8 Installer in Applications Folder, run MLpostFactor and select 10.8.3 & point it to the newly formatted "Install" partition. Reboot into Install and reapply MLPostFactor patch.

To simplify the process above, simply download 10.8.3.app to install. Its always gonna be buggy if you wanna use Combo Updates. Reason is simple, the method to hack 10.8.2< & 10.8.3 is different, so you might experience bugs.

For iMessage, it seems to us its still a hit or miss, really not sure why it worked for some users why it doesn't work for some. Did you use Migration Assistants? If you did, try without? Is your Apple ID a primary ID (associated to iCloud?) Have you setup iMessage in Lion before?

As for Finder, we didn't experience this issue at any stage, not even in V0.1. Have you tried to reboot?

Did a clean install of everything. iCloud works (tried bookmarks and such in Safari and they didn't appear at first but did after a relog in the system prefs).

iMesssage still gives the same issue though, unable to set up. I'm not sure if it has to do with MLPostFactor or not (didn't work in Lion before either as it had no iMessage client?) and I don't own an iPhone/iPad on which I use iMessage.

iSight only lags in Facetime/Photo Booth. Have you guys tried Skype? Works flawlessly there (weirdly enough).

The Finder issue is gone after the 10.8.3 clean install, so that's taken care of.

Will post any findings later on, works good like it did before. Pity the iMessage issue still didn't get resolved ;).

1. iMessage works. You need to have iMessage on another supported Mac or at least used before on Lion.

2. Bonjour issues we will look into it again.

3. Numlock is just the light, the actual key is not affected.

4. Problem with iSight only applies to Photo Booth & FaceTime on X1600 based MacBooks

iMessage works if you have another Mac that supports 10.8 natively. Or has used iMessage in 10.7 before.

iMessage & iSight not working does not mean its not usable! You need to have another supported Mac to get iMessage working or try the method advised by one of the forumers.
