Well done, eep357, and congratulations! Does this work on 32-bit and 64-bit alike?

FINALLY GOT AFP WORKING!!! Woot!

After like 4 days (while not at work), finally can mount (and browse) remote shares hosted on my other
Mac. It took a combination of FileSystem and Framework binaries from both DP1 and 10.7.5, and since I did so many different things, can't be sure which ones are actually required. Give me a minute and I'll try to provide a list of the most likely ones that did it, and where they are from.

I thought 0.3 would be 64-bit only? Perhaps the 32-bit AFP fix could be integrated within 0.2.5?

Not sure how im gonna plan the release yet. Because if we launch a 64-bit for X3100, GMA 950, we're essentially working from ground up again. (with imessage, icloud all doesnt work) not to mention sleeo issue & 10.8.3 support.

You *really* should upgrade to at least Snow Leopard.. By far the best OS.

according to what I read back when it was released, it has (had?) some issues with the Mac Mini version I have. I can't remember right now, but for sure there was something with the graphic card / quicktime player...

but now, how can I upgrade from Leopard to ML? is it possible "directly" or I have to install Lion first?
=)

Package it, and leave the scripting to me.. Ill add it into V0.3 and of course gives credit ;)

Wayne and Eep,

What I find strange is that I can can AFP from a other Mac this system. But I cannot AFP from this system the other Mac's.

Is that right? PS. This system is a MAC Pro 2.1 with this 10.8.3. installation.

thanks,

Lion first.

I'm just seeing this thread. I read the 1st 200 messages all. Then skimmed the next 100. And finally skipped over about 1,500 posts to read the last 100 here. Whew!

MacPro1,1 upgraded to 1,2 with x5355, 32GB RAM, and GT 8800. I assume I need to wait for the 64bit version but I just wanted to post and thank you for all you're work on this! Great stuff man! Thanks!

First of all, thanks for such a great project! Almost everything is working and you doing a good progress from what I can see. A question - I did a clean install 10.8.3, unfortunately "Deep Sleep" aka hibernation doesn't work. I use it on my MacBook all the time, and it's a very useful thing for me. Any thoughts why this doesn't work?

This was always normal, since the other remote mac is the one mounting the AFP volume it works fine, problem is/was on unsupported hacked mac it cannot mount AFP volumes without fixing. I just got home from work and will get a package or something together shortly.

What do I do after the install?

Well, I did it, and it is working great! I do however have some questions (which I'm sure have already been asked, but I am having trouble finding them in the 80 some odd pages there are here!).

My question is this: after the install, I have three partitions on my harddrive. Do I really need all three? Can I remove the original HD partition and incorporate that space into the new ML partition? What about te Install partition? Is it still necessary?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Copy of ML Installer IS IN Applications Folder.

Can anyone steer me to what I'm doing wrong here?

I'm just trying to upgrade my sister's computer, but it keeps telling me that I need a copy of the installer in the application folder. It's in there.

In fact, I put a copy of the 4.xxGB installer in every folder called "applications" on her computer. Is there a specific path that MLPostFactor is looking for?

Highly confused.

Are you putting the app in there or the installesd.dmg?

Snow Leopard has had 8 point releases since release, with tons of bug fixes. It is widely considered the most stable and fastest release of Mac OS X.

If it wasn't for iCloud, I would also be on SL now.

Old MacBook feels fast and new again! Seems to be running freakin awesome, especially considering it's age and the bits of various OS's mashed together on it :) Can't find anything else wrong (except the black dock, which I actually like way better so am not applying the fix to it). Wanted to test AFP a bit more, so did a clean install of 10.8.2, updated to 10.8.3 and then ran my AFP file pack...AFP worked first reboot no problem :) It's all packaged together to be user friendly and fit in with the existing install/update process we're already using; sent off to hackerwayne for him to test out on his end, so I'll leave it in his hands from here.

Cheers!
