Old MacBook feels fast and new again! Seems to be running freakin awesome, especially considering it's age and the bits of various OS's mashed together on it Can't find anything else wrong (except the black dock, which I actually like way better so am not applying the fix to it). Wanted to test AFP a bit more, so did a clean install of 10.8.2, updated to 10.8.3 and then ran my AFP file pack...AFP worked first reboot no problem It's all packaged together to be user friendly and fit in with the existing install/update process we're already using; sent off to hackerwayne for him to test out on his end, so I'll leave it in his hands from here.
Cheers!

Can anyone steer me to what I'm doing wrong here?
I'm just trying to upgrade my sister's computer, but it keeps telling me that I need a copy of the installer in the application folder. It's in there.
In fact, I put a copy of the 4.xxGB installer in every folder called "applications" on her computer. Is there a specific path that MLPostFactor is looking for?
Highly confused.
OK, here's what I think are the relevant changes. Running 10.8.2 BTW. A couple of the DP1 files may just not have changed between DP1>10.8.2 but I don't have the orig 10.8.2 files to compare against since they were overwritten. Also mucked around with swapping various kerberos files and swapped boot.efi, but doubt they were a problem, it always seemed to be OK in console other than no ability to mount AFP. Hope I got these right
Code:acfs.kext > kext from 10.7.5 acfsctl.kext > kext from 10.7.5 ALF.kext > kext from 10.7.5 smbfs.kext > kext from 10.7.5 /System/Library/Filesystems/AppleShare/asp_tcp.kext/Contents/MacOS/asp_tcp > just the binary from DP1 /System/Library/Filesystems/AppleShare/afpfs.kext/Contents/MacOS/afpfs > just the binary from 10.7.5 System/Library/Filesystems/NetFSPlugins/afp.bundle/Contents/MacOS/afp > just the binary from DP1 /System/Library/Frameworks/AppleShareClientCore.framework/Versions/A/AppleShareClientCore > just the binary from DP1 /System/Library/Frameworks/NetFS.framework/Versions/A/NetFS > just the binary from DP1 /System/Library/CoreServices/NetAuthAgent.app > DP1 version /System/Library/CoreServices/AppleFileServer.app/Contents/MacOS/AppleFileServer > just the binary from DP1
now EVERYTHING working!
ps-haven't tried SMB nor was that my focus, so likely a change to smb binary in NetFSPlugins would still be needed to connect to Windows PC

You really can't. Continue to be transparent, making it obvious that it's you. If someone really wants to take credit for it, they will. In this case, I can nearly guarantee it. They rebrand the boot loader for crissake! And we need to prevent "some guys" from stealing our files and using it on his site (making profit out of it). Any idea how to prevent that? Hes famous for stealing peoples file and "branded" it as his own
Are you putting the app in there or the installesd.dmg?
1. ~/Applications
2. .app REQUIRED.
3. Must be on Lion 10.7.5 or later.
eep357 Do you have a Twitter acc or something? Wanted to work with you in more detail.
The Macbook Air came out in 2008 with the first model being the early 2008 model.

I want to know is update work on this? For example if i install clean 10.8 will i be able to update it via software update or i have to download combo 10.8.3 file and then to do a clean install again with MLPostFactor and do that on every version that will come up next?
I wanted to know if it was possible to take a copy of ML 10.8, run it through ML Post Factor, and when promoted at the " Select Destination Volume " screen, tell the application it's for 10.8.3 instead of 10.8, so when I am running 10.8, I can do a software update, install the updates for 10.8.3, and then would it work ?
When I first installed 10.8 onto my Mac ( selecting 10.8 and not 10.8.3 ) I tried doing a software update , and after install, it rebooted into a cancel sign. I want to know if it would work the way I described above.
I would just do it with the 10.8.3, but my internet is VERY slow and such a download takes forever.
----------
I tried that, I ran MLPostFactor with 10.8, and when I tried doing a software update to 10.8.3, after the update installed, the ML partition was unbootable, giving me the circle with the line through it... I think you'll have to use 10.8.3 in the first place
MLPostFactor V0.2.2 supports upgrade from existing systems!
Be advised, clean install is always recommended, you might encounter bugs with upgrades.
To upgrade from V0.1 to V0.2.2 or to update from 10.8 to 10.8.3
If you want to do combo update from 10.8.x to 10.8.3 follow the steps below:
1. Download the combo update but don't install.
2. Follow the guide above till step 2 (but select 10.8.3!! Very Important!).
3. Install the Combo Update, reboot into the "Install" partition important!!!
4. Go to Utilities, and select MLPostFactor. Once complete,
5. Reboot into 10.8.3 Mountain Lion
6. Enjoy!
Just perfect.
Now AFP also work on my Macbook 4.1 (ML 10.8.3 - MLPostFactor v0.2.2)
Just a correction ... After replacing NetFS binaray with DP1, some of my programs no longer start. According to the report the error was in the architecture of NetFS. I used instead the binary from 10.7.5 and now all programs start again, and AFP still works.
Now all we need to solve is SMB.
Hacker Wayne: ... Perhaps this information is also useful for you, if it will be implemented in a future version of MLPostFactor ..

Could someone please confirm, that saving PDF from the printer dialog (or even PDF export from Pages) is working with these modifications as PDF totally fails here.
Thank you.
BTW: Thanks a lot for the working AFP! That's great news.
System installed but reboots after approx 60 sec on the bootscreen.
Is this due to the fact that the system still holds the 7300GT video card
I will have to get my hands on a HD 5770 this weekend
thanks,

Where did you get with all this RobertJB?
Simply skipped all that and did the new installation method.
Now it works like a charm with the exception of AFP and SMB but I have seen postings on that so it probably will come shortly.
