Old MacBook feels fast and new again! Seems to be running freakin awesome, especially considering it's age and the bits of various OS's mashed together on itCan't find anything else wrong (except the black dock, which I actually like way better so am not applying the fix to it). Wanted to test AFP a bit more, so did a clean install of 10.8.2, updated to 10.8.3 and then ran my AFP file pack...AFP worked first reboot no problem

And we need to prevent "some guys" from stealing our files and using it on his site (making profit out of it). Any idea how to prevent that? Hes famous for stealing peoples file and "branded" it as his own

I want to know is update work on this? For example if i install clean 10.8 will i be able to update it via software update or i have to download combo 10.8.3 file and then to do a clean install again with MLPostFactor and do that on every version that will come up next?

OK, here's what I think are the relevant changes. Running 10.8.2 BTW. A couple of the DP1 files may just not have changed between DP1>10.8.2 but I don't have the orig 10.8.2 files to compare against since they were overwritten. Also mucked around with swapping various kerberos files and swapped boot.efi, but doubt they were a problem, it always seemed to be OK in console other than no ability to mount AFP. Hope I got these right

Just a correction ... After replacing NetFS binaray with DP1, some of my programs no longer start. According to the report the error was in the architecture of NetFS. I used instead the binary from 10.7.5 and now all programs start again, and AFP still works.
Now all we need to solve is SMB.

I wanted to know if it was possible to take a copy of ML 10.8, run it through ML Post Factor, and when promoted at the " Select Destination Volume " screen, tell the application it's for 10.8.3 instead of 10.8, so when I am running 10.8, I can do a software update, install the updates for 10.8.3, and then would it work ?

I would just do it with the 10.8.3, but my internet is VERY slow and such a download takes forever.

Could someone please confirm, that saving PDF from the printer dialog (or even PDF export from Pages) is working with these modifications as PDF totally fails here.

The files could be kept within an encrypted disk image that has the key broken up within the script or binary. You could even make the the key the MD5 sum of a random file so that the key won't be kept within the script at all. Then mount the drive with --no-browse to keep it of of the desktop and mount it to a folder other than /Volumes. You'll also want to retouch everything with the time/date of the oringal file that your file will be changing out to better hide which files are being modified. Lastly, I suggest making your script edit an info.plist with some kind of text identifying that your script was run on the system. And make sure on of the info.plist files that you distribute is edited to have a similar identification in it. Just remember, you can't completely prevent it, just make it harder to do.
System installed but reboots after approx 60 sec on the bootscreen.
Is this due to the fact that the system still holds the 7300GT video card

It warms my heart to find so many people dedicated to keeping good ol' machines like my 5yo MacBook alive, in spite of evil consumerist tendencies from the machine-makers... You guys rock the casbah!
Second: The only little problem I've encountered so far using 10.8.3 is upon trying to install LittleSnitch 3.0. Halfway through the install process, as the installer was displaying "Updating Boot Cache" (I think) >> Kernel Panic. Then Kernel Panic again whenever trying to reboot from ML. I had to go through my Install partition to re-install MLPostFactor, which solved the boot problem (this is true magic to me).
But now my Little Snitch install is broken, and I don't dare to try and uninstall it either, lest the same issue appear.
So would you MacMasters have any advice on how to make Little Snitch (crucial software) run on my 10.8.3 system?

Simply skipped all that and did the new installation method.
Now it works like a charm with the exception of AFP and SMB but I have seen postings on that so it probably will come shortly.
I'm still using a 98% 10.8.2, waiting for the 62 bit 10.8.3 installer to come out. My question tho was really about your RAM. Does it work with the full 12 back in now?
