I preordered 64GB 3G + WiFi iPad on Mar. 12, less than 10 min after the store opened.

Last night I noticed my AppleCare order went from "Not yet Shipped" to "Complete" - I just got off the phone with Apple Customer Service and was told what this probably means is my iPad's serial number has been registered with the AppleCare package and this is likely the first step that my iPad is being prepared for shipment.

My Bank also shows charges today for 105.93, likely for the $99 for the AppleCare plus Tax

The iPad itself is still listed under "Not Yet Shipped", Shipping Method "Priority".

Yep, my AppleCare is showing "Complete" too, as I questioned in this thread:

I also ordered on release day and my Applecare is now listed as "complete" but my 32GB 3G still says late April. I hope this means it will ship out early this week! I'd assume the applecare and the Ipad are now linked via serial number of my actual unit.

I didn't order Apple Care when I pre-ordered my 3G. Is it easy enough to add Apple Care after I receive it? I don't see a way to attach it now.

You have up to a year to add it. The main advantage of ordering it at the same time as the iPad is that it would have automatically enrolled the iPad, whereas adding it after the fact you will have to go to apple.com and enter the iPad serial number and AppleCare number. Not a big deal.

Go with squaretrade.com They cover spills and drops for the same price or $5 less. Very reputable company. I've actually had to use the warranty with them before. Returned the laptop to them and received a full value check for the item after paying the small $25 deductible.

Just got a weird letter from apple claiming that my order was cancelled for my wife's 3G. Called customer service and she said they had a system wide error that began canceling a large amount of 3G preorders. She said she had dealt with at least a 100 callers having this issue and they are unable to reinstate the orders at this time because the system won't let them.

Boy, that's encouraging. D>S

smooth launch for the magical device. After all they had forever to get this right, I think this is pretty bad.

Sorry to hear that.

Providing another data point along the lines of Priority Shipping change and the AppleCare moving to complete. Honestly, I don't remember what my status was prior to today on the AppleCare but I was charged for it on 4/1 and the charge is $99.00. There is no sales tax (at least in Maryland) on something like AppleCare but I am not a tax lawyer or accountant so YMMV.

Seeing folks suggesting that this may mean that the AppleCare has been applied to a specific iPad, I checked my AppleCare status on the Apple support site and there is no iPad listed there yet. Hopefully that shows up soon :):apple:

Just got an email from Apple "acknowledging" my order. I expected this the day ipreordered it, but I guess they took a little while. Hopefully this means they're going into overdrive in advance of the 3G shipping date. Can't imagine what kind of hell all those people in charge of this are in. D=

My credit card was authorizes today for the iPad 3G (64GB) + tax, order status still says "Late April" and noticed that the shipping is now "Priority"... I wonder when the iPads will start shipping... is there a chance to get it before April 30th? probably not... anyway, I got me a day off on Friday...

Yes, there IS a chance. You know, it's not like Apple issued a press release explicitly stating "iPad 3Gs preordered for "late april" will be delivlered by April 30"

Also: pretty sure the shipping date hasnt changed because they probably still arent sure what day they will SHIP. (shipping is different from delivering)

Uhm, did you even read Apple's press release?

Apple said:
Apple® today announced that the Wi-Fi + 3G models of its magical iPad™ will be delivered to US customers who’ve pre-ordered on Friday, April 30, and will be available in Apple retail stores the same day starting at 5:00 p.m.

Since this isn't a "release date" type of thing, I wonder if apple cares if they get delivered before the 30th.
