The Saturday release of the wifi was a freaking NIGHTMARE. Please please please make it a Friday.
Thanks Soulcrux. I'm heading out on a 17-hour flight (one 5-hour flight connecting to a 12-hour one) to India on Sun, 4/25. So, I'm really hoping that is delivered by next Sat!

My ipad status says priority. I bought a MacBook air back in January and I believe I did overnight shipping and that said priority. I bought an appletv in February and got 2 day so that status says 2 day. So I'm guessing when these do ship it will be overnight with it saying priority.
Like many others, my order changed to priority also (ordered 3/12). Since they are shipping from China via FedEx, I understand they clear customs in Anchorage. The financial news conf. scheduled for 4/20 keeps coming to mind. They will announce a date for the 3G is my guess, probally the dreaded Saturday 4/24.

I hope you're somewhere where there isn't any significant pollen...my allergies have been killing these past two weeks. Any time I go outside and start sneezing, eyes running, coughing...it's horrible, AND I'm supermedicated: Allegra, Benadryl, Zyrtec, sinus-spray in one hand, Eye-Allergy Visine in the the other. These trees nowadays are just too sex-crazed! A-choo!
I have a feeling it's going to be fedex this time around for the 3G's. So far with the dock and case I received the deliveries from fedex have been early and pre-signing for the delivery has made it much less stressful for me. I'm really getting excited now that's it seems it's getting close.
Anyone who kids about getting the 3G early should be banned for life!...or...be harshly reprimanded...or...have their 3G pre-order cancelled

From what the customer service guy told me that I spoke to a few weeks ago, they will auth your credit card several days before the unit ships. I found this out because they attempted to auth my card for the whole schebang just to ship the case I had ordered, since it was shipping at the same time as the WiFi models. Now, the "correct" amount is what would have ultimately been charged, but they still attempted to auth it. It failed, since I hadn't gotten paid yet (it was a debit card), so I got an email saying my order failed and to call in or it would be canceled.
So... that being said, keep an eye on your cards. When you see an auth hit, you'll know we're a few days away from shipment. I just checked mine (I've since switched the order to a regular card) and it isn't showing anything just yet. If they're going to ship on the 23rd, then we should see the auth's appear probably by Weds.

I agree with dreamwave that we'll likely hear something during the Earnings Call, if not before. They aren't going to make the announcement late on a Saturday or on a Sunday where people aren't going to pay as much attention to the news. I'm not sure what the Earnings Call will say, but if it's the greatest news, the 3G release date could cause enough excitement on its own and get people focused on how high their earnings will be in the 2nd quarter.
They will now have had 2 full weekends past the release for the focus to be on the WIFI-only version. A Monday or Tuesday information "release" date will give them ample time to ramp up for a 4/24 shift, and I would venture that being the date. UPS/Fed Ex won't have as many other orders to worry about that day and can send out extra trucks stocked full of the iPad 3Gs.
I hope that I'm able to get my shipment before I fly out on the night of 4/27. It would be great to play around with while waiting at the airport and on my flights. To everyone else waiting with me, I feel your pain - but our time will come!

Oh and I just got my lonely iPad case, but the cool thing is that it shipped out on April 14th from "LANTAU ISLAND HK" and arrived at my house in Chicago at 1:00p on April 16th. Now that's speedy delivery for ya. Hope my 3G gets the same lightning delivery. Er, I mean.....I sure am thankful El Jobso is droppin mine by the house for me.

I ordered both a 16GB WiFi Only and a 32GB WiFi & 3G on March 13th, right around 12 noon PST.
When my credit card was authorized for the WiFi, I used two different cards (one for the case and one for the iPad). The entire order was tested but the card for my case failed authorization (I made a large purchase that day - a 46" LCD from Samsung) Anyways, the was on March 25th (And I rearranged payment just hours after receiving the email). This was a THURSDAY before the week of shipment. Then that following TUESDAY (March 30th) I received my shipment notification, as on of the first "waves" to be assigned labels. Mine took longer to leave China (I have my theories, but those are for another thread), but I did receive it on the April 3rd date.
Now, with that timeline in mind, some of us should probably be checking our statements (if they are delivering on a Saturday again - boo!)
The person who said their paypal was checked on Friday, this leads me to believe that they WILL be shipping starting on Tuesday. However I received my notification at 5 AM EST, and the conference call for the 2Q earnings is later than that, so we may even know before they announce it at the earnings call. This would be a great thing for them to announce then as it would not only bring more press to the PR about the earnings, but it would also raise their stocks again for those in anticipation of those shipments, increased demand from suppliers, and a great public response (Along with AT&T's likely hubub).
Needless to say, I think that this timeline seems to fit.
As well, this may also be only for those that ordered in the first "half" of the ordering period until now, and then the following week is when those last orders will ship (likely seeing the 20th as a date for the shipping times to change on the Apple Store).

Seems I got a temp auth for my applecare....why send that out if they dont send out the 3g!
Same reason they send me an iPad dock 2 weeks ago and my G3 iPad is still waiting for "Late April".
