I agree, I ordered 3/12 the day the pre-orders opened up and I got mine changed to priority. So renewed's thinking is flawed.
I'm wondering if the change to Priority is actually a sign that Apple has to rush the shipment in order to meet EOM delivery. My guess is that they will ship on the 28th.
That's funny, at the time I placed mine on March 12, They did not give me a priority option. However mine is changed to priority now.
That's weird..... I would clean my cookies with CCLeaner (Windows) or Reset Safari (Mac OS X). Maybe your browser has too many cookies and is displaying old information.
I could be wrong and I will admit I haven't read through every post in this thread, but priority shipping should be for anyone who initially pre-ordered the 3G iPad, I'm guessing within the first week or two. Having ordered it when it was first available should mean that it gets delivered the day it is released. People who ordered just recently probably won't have priority because the initial priority for units has already been given to stores and early pre-orders.

Maybe because you are in LA so standard shipping will still get the iPad delivered to you the next day anyway?
Of course if they ship from China, this may not be true.

Like many of you, my Shipping Method changed from "Standard" to "Priority" as of yesterday. So, I called the Apple Store Customer Support line. They asked for my web order# and I then asked them why the Shipping Method was changed for my order. The sales droid that I spoke with said that they made the change to ensure that I receive my iPad 3G by the release date. I also asked what "Priority" means in this case. I was then told that "Priority" means that I will receive it 2-3 days after it shipped.
My guess based on this information and the fact that Apple's quarterly earnings conference call is on Tues, 4/20 is the following. I believe that the release/launch date for the iPad 3G will be announced during the quarterly earning con-call and it will be for either Fri, 4/23 or Sat, 4/24. All of us who have pre-ordered the iPad 3G will then see our iPads start to ship on Tuesday, 4/20 following the con-call.

Well it was a guess based on what I had seen up to that point. The beauty of a rumor forum is you get to guess and if you are wrong, so what.
Ditto. Can we switch it on what notice? I think the whole weekend release plan is a crock.
A few hours ago my status was standard shipping. I just checked it again and it now shows priority.

I just canceled my preorder from 3/12 for 32GB 3G and placed a new one for a 64GB 3G yesterday. I also ordered the Belkin Grip Vue case along with, It wasn't until the shipping status of the Belkin case changed to in transit today did the shipping method for the rest of the order (the 64GB 3G) changed from standard to Priority.
i just canceled my order for the 32GB Wifi + 3G and upgraded to the 64GB . . . shipping went from priority back to 'standard shipping' . . . wonder what this means ? Shipping is still listed as 'late April'
