As opposed to the old toy you're marrying? :p

I wouldn't call it an old toy, but like my three-year-new MacBook Pro, I now know all it's little quirks...How to get the drive spinning, how to avoid a crash, when it's about to stall, and most importantly, how to reboot after a kernel panic!;)

I just preordered mine 20 minutes ago, and the shipping says "Standard"

Ohhh I hope i don't end up getting it 2 days late or something. D=

Mine just changed to Priority. Just a few hours ago it was Standard. The next thing I will be looking for is a pending charge to my credit card. Hopefully next week. :D

My 64gb 3G shows 2-3 day, so I have no idea if that's standard or priority, or somewhere in-between? There were two accessory items with this order that have already arrived, so I wonder if that has something to do with what it's showing for shipping?

I am the same as you, My 64 GB 3G shows 2-3 day but I ordered a few accessories as well and the last of the accessories get here tomorrow. All I am waiting for is the iPad 3G 64 GB. Wonder if it will switch to Priority after the accessories get delivered tomorrow?
I did order mine on 3/12 about 9 pm at night.

This probably means FedEx. They don't like to drive out to "rural" areas, like where I live, so they take it to the nearest post office and then the post office takes it from there. This is totally irritating because it typically adds 2 days to the shipping time to something that was supposed to be priority when they could have just shipped it USPS in the first place. That's why I don't use FedEx.

Please excuse the rant.

Mine changed too (priority). Ordered 3/26.
FedEx sucks out here. They get lost and can't find the place and a few days after trying turn it over to the PO. The guy on the phone when I ordered it said it would be FedEx and I asked him if it could be UPS and he said he can't guarantee it. UPS is great out here.

This sucks for me.

I had been checking since yesterday evening when I read about this but just checked This morning and BOOM, I'm a member of the "Priority Shipping" club! We got some movement people!

Oh and I ordered on 3/23 btw..,

All I hope is they do not do the Saturday shipping crap! It was a PITA as my office is closed on Saturday! Fiday the 30th will be good!

this happens all the time on orders, i have had them switch back and forth,

it has not shipped yet....so either way you will find out when it ships.

Best indication of pending shipment is a charge on your credit card. I have my bank set up to send me an email the second that happens. They will not ship till then.

DHL does the same - not just Fedex.

Mine now priority too FWIW though I hadn't checked previously.

First post to MacRumors Forums!

My shipping method switched to Priority as well. Ordered the iPad 3G 64GB on March 12 at 8:38 AM eastern. No charge yet on the CC. My iPad case came last week and is sitting in a corner taunting me.

Not that I need to say it but mine changed to Priority too. I ordered the morning of 3/12, probably 2 minutes after the preorder page went up.

Uh huh. So, what does "priority" shipping actually mean?

Probably Apple goofed up and if everything was shipped standard, the iPad wouldn't reach your grubby hands before the end of April, so they bumped shipping to priority.

I see that some are priority and some are standard. This is my thought on it:

People who ordered right away already have an iPad claimed, it will ship out using standard shipping and arrive on time.

People who ordered later are going to have to wait until another shipment from China hits here and the way it is looking they aren't getting it until last minute, so Apple will have to bump your shipping to priority to meet the deadline.
