I’m saying I am astute in that I notice these things and catch them. As I have explained countless times before - I am deeply attached to the Apple ecosystem and love the software. I also don’t believe other tech companies do better with quality control or build quality - I just think Apple can do better than they have been.

Why do you think getting another phone will change anything. You do not think the new one will get these microscratches?

What? Some of the scratches the phone had weren't "micro" first of all. Second, it was scratched out of the box, and I'm not in the habit of accepting brand new items with scratches I did not make. Third, my devices absolutely do not get scratches anyway because I use screen protectors from day one. (And fourth, if anyone's wondering, a screen protector didn't completely cover these scratches anyway).

Also, like I said when the thread started, (if this were still possible and I didn't return the phone already) if you don't think it's a big deal then you trade your perfect scratch free iPhone out of the box for mine with scratches out of the box. Don't want to? I didn't think so.

Actually it depends on how deep the scratches is. Most screen protector does hide it and you can’t even see the scratches. The one I returned had a scratch, even can feel it with my nail. I put a screen protector on it and completely covers it. You can’t even see it.

You could still see some of the ones I had, but that's beside the point.

I agree screen protectors can hide scratches rather easily. But for me, just knowing the scratch is on the display, rather if it's concealed or not by the screen protector, would still agitate me. Fortunately no scratches on my iPhone.

Well this is a new low for quality control for me - my brand new iPhone X was just delivered and there are fine hairline scratches all over the screen. One is especially noticeable. Total disgrace. I can't capture it on my iPhone 5C camera, but it's there. Please check your X with the screen off under a bright light when you open it to see for yourself. I am hoping my experience is a one off thing. I was very excited for this today, but I should have known better.
[doublepost=1509728854][/doublepost]Also, does anyone know what I should do now with my SIM cards if I have activated the new iPhone X with its new SIM card (Verizon). Should I take it out and put it in my old 5C? Does Apple need the new SIM card with the returned phone?
[doublepost=1515905684][/doublepost]Same it fricken sucks got my iPhone X for Christmas and it already has scratches

Agreed, mine has accumulated them very quickly! Worse than the back, which touches everytthing haha

I'm wondering if Apple change the composition of the oleophobic coating on the iPhone X, at least compared to past iPhone models.

If they have we won’t hear about it. They keep everything quiet, case in point, battery life and throttling. These creative ways to save a nickel or two are terrible and I switched too many phones out for these issues. I had other things too like bad buttons, debris in screen, metal frame being chipped, rubber sim tray gasket jammed or pinched in phone and wouldn’t seat. Early adopters are paying for retooling of the new devices.

I won’t say how many phones I swapped, but enough to know this is a widespread issue and Apple is content to keep replacing. Impressive and sad at the same time.

Why are people on a witch hunt on here?

Last I checked we get on this thread to be helpful, not chastise and throw others under the bus. Unless you’re just trolling.

Can we stop with the "I'm a little OCD" or "I'm so OCD" nonsense? OCD is a very real disorder. I have it (officially diagnosed by a doctor) and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. People like the OP, call them anal retentive, incredibly picky, perfectionists, etc, if you like but unless someone has an official diagnoses they aren't "OCD" and it's not any more possible to be "a little OCD" any more than it is possible to be a little pregnant.

I'm not sure what you mean by leaving the glass on. There isn't nothing on that screen in my pics- the scratch is in the glass itself. As are the other smaller ones. I will have to check out your thread now - sorry you're dealing with this too. I also have screen protectors - HD clear from Tech Armor (I don't like tempered glass) and the scratches are still visible with one on, I've tried. But that's besides the point. I shouldn't have to conceal scratches on my brand new device. Apple will take the scratched phone and enjoy it and I'll enjoy my $1,000+ being back in my pocket.

Yeah, because my naked eye at arm's length is a telescope.

I actually had the same problem too, the most funny thing is my phone has a one cm crack after one week of use, I always had the case on, and never drop my phone. So the only thing that can cause the crack screen is my keys..... the iphone x is much more easier to scratch and crack than my iphone 6s...

These scratches were all over the screen as soon as you peeled back the plastic? That's insane if true. I can't see how this would happen.

This happened with my iPhone X too, peeled back the plastic and there was one scratch on it.
When I spend £1000, I expect it to be in perfect condition even though later there will be wear and tear from daily use.

I got mine in December, its so annoying! Took off the plastic on the screen and there was a 1cm scratch.
Apple only offered a reconditioned handset.

I will think 100 times before getting Apple product again at launch

IF you just opened your phone and found a scratch you can demand a new phone or return yours for a refund and buy another. No way they would have offered a refurb within 14 days of the sale.

I googled into this thread.

I just had my silver iPhone X arrived today, took the plastic cover off and found a small scratch on the bottom left of the screen. Also present is dust in the back camera. I am too lazy to take pictures but I didn't google this thread and register an account just to lie about it.

I am speechless. I've never had screen scratches (out of the box) on any non-Apple and way cheaper devices I purchased over the decades.

I am not asking for a new one, I am returning for refund because I am certain the next **** I got from them will have some other defects if not again have screen scratches.

Would seem to me that Apple got too disillusioned with their **** and forgotten about basic quality.

This **** is NOT ok for a $1100 product. Also not ok are people who "get over it".
Repeat: **** IS NOT OK BECAUSE I PAID $1100.

Exchange it. Youre not stuck with tge phone.

Which basically resolves your issue then, that you should return your phone and consider another smart phone manufacturer since you clearly *know* that the next iPhone will have other defects as well.

He can rule out Samsung phones as well. They had one model that had battery issues. So clearly all models will also have the same problem... /s
LOL... reminds me of that scene in Rainman... where Hoffman's character would only fly Quantus...because it was the only carrier with a perfect safety record.

Plenty of complaints about Samsung flagship phones coming with scratches on the screen when new or screens that get micro scratches very easily. The type of coatings they apply to these phones screens scratches easily unfortunately. Either get a screen protector or wait till the coating wears off in a few months.
