Before you make such big statements, why not do a bit of critical thinking and try to understand the difference between the two companies. And why multiple governments around the world have put restrictions on using Huawei. Here is a clue, it is not the name ;)
You must be fun at parties. 🥰

Do you think I really think it’s because of the name?

The problem with the screen crease is… it get worse.

It may look “barely noticeable” in reviews where they are filming a brand new phone but with a couple of months of usage they become way more visible and it just looks straight up ugly.

I don’t want a $1800 device that’s going to show wear and tear on the screen within a year like it’s a cheap pair of H&M pants. That’s not good for me as a consumer or good for the environment.
How many foldables have you owned and for how long did you own them? I've owned four, and none of the creases became more noticeable over time. Ownership length per phone (I buy a new phones every year btw):

Z Fold 3: 1 year
Z Fold 4: 1 year
Z Flip 4: 3 months (I hated this phone, didn't even want it as my backup)
Pixel Fold: I've owned this for just under 4 months now

What are bricks those foldables! It make sense when it’s slim and total thickness is the same as ordinary smart phones.

They are coming much closer to matching the thickness of larger slab phones when folded. The Honor Magic V2 is down to 9.9mm when folded. Of course this is going to take some time. The OnePlus Open weighs less than an iPhone 14 PM as well. Things are coming along nicely overall.

Flexing material and electronic circuits is bound to cause problems. The phone looked pretty good in the video review, probably the best foldable I have seen, but what will it look like in a year of use? All of the foldables I have seen in the wild have godawful creases from flexing the screen at the hinge. It seems to me to be a lot of money for something inherently fragile. Also, the crease was noticeable to me even in the video if this relatively new example, and I prefer iOS over Android. Finally, IMO there are security considerations regarding the country of origin.

My Fold 4 has held up incredibly well to multiple drops onto concrete, tile, and asphalt over the past year. The slim case has nicks and scratches but the phone has been absolutely fine. I've used it in pouring rain on a trip to D.C., taken it kayaking in Cancun, and various beach days in California and it has held up just as well as any previous phone I've had.

After 10 months I needed to replace the inner film screen protector because it started to separate at the crease. I was a little surprised by it but easily replaced it myself with one from Amazon for $7. It really was no big deal and the phone is as good as new again. My wife's brand new iPhone 15 Pro is already on the third screen protector in under a month because it has a tendency to fall face down. So it's not a big deal to me if I have to replace the inner screen protector once a year on the Fold 4. Everything else about the Fold 4 has been fantastic.

I'm not sure what I'd rather want in the Fold 6 -- either thinner and lighter, or same weight but wider with a built-in stylus. Either way, I'm glad to see more foldable options come to market. My iPad Pro 12.9 has been collecting dust ever since I got the Fold 4.

The square-ish form factor of a foldable smartphone just does not work for me. I would like to see a phone or table that would have a classic form factor when you unfold it and that would otherwise just be half the size.

I like the green color. I'm guessing that the Hasselblad connection is in marketing only, I highly doubt that there is any Hasselblad tech in these phones.

Wow, they were able to create a phone significantly uglier than Apple's recent creations, what an achievement.

It’d be nice to try a folding iPhone. Normal iPhones/Phones don't elicit any ”fun” since my 14pro last year.

foldability is like sunroof in a car. nice to have? sure. need it? no. will I even use it? most likely never.
and the crease.....there is no way to solve such problem
This is fairly accurate but I use them both when the mood strikes. I drove home a short while ago with my sunroof open with beautiful fall weather. I'm typing now on my Pixel Fold while unfolded, sitting out in the beautiful fall weather. Feature options are a good thing.

Will be happy to wait and see what Apple does with foldables. Not against the concept in general but since I am too heavily integrated in all things Apple.

While there is a lot for me to like here (RAM, Peak nits, 239g weight, multitasking approach, barely noticeable crease, overall size, fast charger in the box, etc.) I just can't buy a OnePlus phone for three reasons:

1. Chinese company
2. Past record of hardware and software issues
3. Probably the worst support in the game

I almost pulled the trigger just to give it a shot, but I know better.
1. Apple may be an American Company but its 100% built and delivered to your pocket by the Chinese!
2. Never had a software or hardware problem with my 8T or 5T before that.
3. If you've never owned a OP phone this is just subjective on your part, and not helpful.

I'm not a mad fan of OP but have used a 5T and now an 8T extensively. They are clean and easy to use with vitually vanilla Android 13.

As iOS becomes more and more complex we are more likely to lose interest in Apple. The OP11 is half the price of the equivalent iPhone and the Apple phone is definetely not twice as good.

Time to widen your horizons.

I second that sentence with more and more complex….. come on. Ppl will lose themselves into setting shortcuts to do automations.

Can’t argue with that. iOS needs a ground up rebuild.

When Apple produces the foldable one, I believe it will be the best foldable phone as Apple is ensuring how to make it the best product with excellent quality as usual. It might take years to get it done, but it is better later with great quality result than rushing it with poor quality result. I am hoping foldable iPhone will expand with the same or closer size as iPad mini.😊 That will be perfect 👍 🤩

Mobile phone strategies

Other phone companies: try new form factors, increase RAM, faster refresh rates, flexible displays, and multi-tasking usability.

Apple: Use last years specs for this year's model. :p
What's telling is that even 5 years ago, as soon as a new iPhone came out, lots of android manufactures rushed to get lookalikes out the door in 2-3 months.

Now, no one bothers, or cares.

I would rather see Apple go entirely in the opposite direction and release a receiver that's as tiny as possible for maximum portability, which does nothing but direct traffic to and from the larger Apple device of your choice. Imagine an iPhone nano, the size of the old tiny iPod nano, which will let you send and receive calls from the device but which is really intended to turn your MacBook or iPad or other Apple device into a fully functioning smartphone.
I've dreamed of a credit card sized phone for years. We were almost there, but people wanted phablets instead, so here we are.

I've had a the Samsung flip for a few years now. I love the form factor of a flip phone, I don't use it for my daily because I much prefer iOS than Android. I hope Apple joins foldables, but also hope they'll make a flip phone version.
Would buy iOS flip phone instantly, especially if as small, or smaller, than OG RAZR

I’ve owned three different OnePlus phones. While there have definitely been things to like, I’ve also seen the stupid stunts they pull with their software, so I’ll pass on this one.
