All I have to say is I bet my iPhone if Verizon had the iPhone everyone would be complaining about them, also realize Verizon as a whole entitiy has been together longer building their network for the past 10-12 years, while AT&T was built on two company's AT&T wireless which was fairly small, and Cingular which had the poor reputation combined under AT&T, so they have not been together long enough they need more time to get their network in more places.

Verion however may have better coverage, however up until the Droid they had no major phone player, also their network is old news CDMA? and their lack to move to a universal network ie. GSM has been slow and personally Sprint and Verizon are running old networks and they live in Silos because no one is sharing their airspace.

List I had Verizon switched for the iPhone, have great coverage and do not regret not going back however, I had issues with Verizon and their service.

I am not here to bash anyone or promote anything but everyone will have their growing pains, however under the circumstances AT&T is trying and doing a good job in my eyes, but Verizon does have more coverage in certain areas, so if your not getting your money's worth with AT&T, switch to someone else who gives you the coverage you need.

Good Luck

Raving Verizon fanboy... I can tell from afar. I also enjoy your tears at watching Apple do business with AT&T over over-hyped Verizon... yes, they are delicious....

What, you have stock in AT&T? I've no interest in any phone company, just want consistent coverage with the phone I use. I never hear anyone praise Comcast while discussing their new television. It's two unrelated topics, which is how a phone coverage company and a phone device company should operate.

I wouldn't mind AT&T if I didn't have a stack of network outages I've had to contend with across the nation. I wouldn't consider Verizon over-hyped, because I've never seen someone cursing Verizon due to lack of coverage. Simple observation.

You have something against people being able to use their iPhone on Verizon? What's it to you?

And who eats tears? That's ****ing weird.

I don't understand how this topic devolved into a Verizon v. AT&T grudge match.

It's all about people on Verizon holding out for the iPhone for various reasons.

Eventually the iPhone will be on all four carriers, or at least I hope so.

Sometimes coverage and call quality are more important than the phone.

GSM is just as old, if not older and is also "old news" Both carriers are moving to LTE. This argument has no merit.

I don't give an F about AT&T's "growing pains". I'm paying for a service that is sub-par and pathetic. AT&T is a business, I don't give them sympathy when they market a particular service that you pay (too much) for and then am supposed to feel bad that they didn't have the foresight to spend the money and build a better network.

it would really seem like a lot of people here seem to be taking sides..... i dont really care which side ur on... facts are more important. Yes, big scary V has 5x more coverage. But, At&t does have faster 3g... i dont think i know anyone that has really complained about at&t where i live (south jersey) but there may be some.

the only thing i wish would change with at&t is their prices. A little high... but i will stick with it cause they have the iPhone. THAT DOES NOT MEAN that i would go with verizon if they ever get it. At&T still has better 3g. I am not gonna pass up speed for a small price tag.

I currently have sprint.... i have a pretty good phone (treo). Not really too many apps for it (which is why i want an iphone) but if they would speed up their 3g and got thei iPhone, that would prob be the best deal. $99 for unlimited talk/text/data? too good to be tru!!!

But i also trust Apple's judgement... so if they say AT&T, its AT&T for me!

Verizon is not cheaper than AT&T, both are the same price. Sprint and T-Mobile are the cheaper ones. Yes, speed make a difference.

1. I don't own AT&T stock. I jut hate people bashing of AT&T because of two markets. The entire network is not two markets. Also unnecessary critiscism of AT&T when upgrading. Grow up people, your contract is every 2 years not 1. Unless you pay a high amount, AT&T isn't charity.

2. Tears is something metaphorical, and it seems you fail to grasp that concept. Take more English courses kiddo. Better yet, go back to school.

3. If you know AT&T is no good in your area, then why did you buy the iPhone? Better yet, why haven't you left AT&T? No one held a gun to your head and told you to buy and keep an iPhone regardless of service. You can easily walk out and go back to Verizon. Seriously, if you know your area has bad coverage don't complain about it and make it seems it's the entire network. Simple solution for you is not to have an iPhone.

You got it!

WI never hear anyone praise Comcast while discussing their new television. It's two unrelated topics, which is how a phone coverage company and a phone device company should operate.

You finally hit the nail right on the head! No one ever praises or complains about their tv service when discussing their new televisions because all tvs work with all services!!!! (or talks about their internet provider when praising a new computer.... same deal....) It's not two unrelated topics when it comes to phone companies and phone service companies because we don't have the choice that (I think) everybody else in the world does and that is: buy whatever phone you want and use whatever service you want. My area has great Verizon service, other places have great AT&T service and lousy Verizon. You should have the choice to use an iPhone on whatever service you want. Period!

Herein lies the problem. WE WANT THE IPHONE!!! Otherwise we wouldn't spend time on this forum arguing about it. The problem seems to be that AT&T has little to no interest in improving their network which is unprecedented anywhere else in the world. There are huge swaths of this country which are not covered by AT&T 3G. Now, if there were no other carriers who covered these areas, I wouldn't be complaining. BUT THERE IS A CARRIER WHO COVERS THESE AREAS. THEY'RE CALLED VERIZON WIRELESS! Come on Apple, don't screw over your US customers by keeping your phone on a lackluster network...

Places in which there are more cows than people? Also, you want an iPhone you don't need it thou. Also, AT&T is improving their network, it's just that your area doesn't see it, but other people sure do.

Verizon and Sprint don't seem to mind. And in fact, it's an entire 2hr drive from Columbus that I have no 3g, and quite frankly, there's very few cows in those areas - if at all. Smug ass

Which areas see AT&T's improvement? Certainly not NYC or San Francisco lol. Or even here in Columbus where we see first hand at AT&T-sponsored football games that they don't plan for anything short of the normal capacity for their systems.

Whether you heard people cursing at Verizon or not is irrelevant and doesnt even matter.
I havent heard of people curse about Spring, does that make them the best provider.
Your reasoning doesnt make any sense. Grow up and deal with it. Bad service, then dont buy the iphone. Go with a Verizon phone. Noone is forcing you to do anything.
The iphone is not a civil or constitutional right. Its just a device, theres many others out there that can suit everyones needs.
Move on and give it up with the AT&T bashing....
Realize that your experience does not equal every AT&T subscribers experience on every place in the US.

Many areas have improved thruout the US with new 3G towers added.
Just because you didnt notice it in your area it means the rest of the US didnt right?

They have no interest improving their network said who?
Have you even seen their continious coverage expansion thruout the US, have you done any research or you're just talking without a clue?

Keep buying the Verizon ads thinking theres no other carrier out there but them. Luckluster network:rolleyes:

.

GSM tech is the worldwide standard.
Only 2-5 countrys thruout the world still use the dinosaur dieing tech of CDMA. It was dropped by every carrier many many years ago besides Verizon/Sprint.

The rest of the world using something doesn't prove it better.

Ignoring that you're apparently unable to spell (hopefully you at least can dress yourself in the morning). CDMA wasn't dropped by "every" carrier. Many chose the GSM path. Either way GSM is dying too because OMG it's being replaced by LTE!

Please explain (and maybe spell correctly this time), why CDMA is a "dinosaur dieing" tech (ignoring the fact it will be here for years more), when LTE is replacing GSM as well?

Tip - If the rest of the world abandons a technology (even some people in your own country), that might be a good indication that the abandoned tech is old or not suitable for upgrades.

Now, an example. Apple moving to Intel CPUs, by your reasoning, using Intel is a bad idea (since everyone is already there) and Apple should just continue to use PowerPC.

CDMA is alive today because of the few carriers supporting it. It is supposed to be dead. GSM is not dying anytime soon. Also, not being replaced. LTE is an upgrade to GSM, whole new protocols/hardrware and software integration, but enhancing on a GSM experience. Where as CDMA got lucky LTE is also supporting it. Otherwise, we'd be seeing a Verizon Wi-Max, which is wierd, Wi-Max is supposed to be CDMA 4G. Funny how Verizon is not following that route.

Who cares if GSM is the worldwide standard? We live in America where the most robust and widespread standard, by far, is CDMA. It's a shame that Apple, an American company (supposedly), fails to acknowledge this. Or perhaps they do but I guess it's more profitable to screw over their customers for a little more profit through their cushy relationship with AT&T.

Listen, nobody is thrilled that Verizon went CDMA. We'd all be a lot happier if they went GSM or converted to GSM at some point. But the fact of the matter is they didn't, and as of today, they have the most widespread and robust network in the US. If they were some random provider like Boost mobile or something with sparse coverage then no one would care about Verizon and they could go and wither away with their CDMA tech. But that's not the case so we have to deal with the situation as it is. Apple would be doing their US customers a great favor by releasing a CDMA iPhone.

And thanks to that retarded thinking we are where we are in terms of bandwidth, and scholastic percentages. Technologically, we bear many legacy items still that need to be gone by now a days.

Sticking to old tech and old stuff is the foundation of a bad future. Verizon knows this, hence their move to LTE, not Wi-Max.

Apple doesn't fail at this, they are pioneers in this. See, the whole Floppy thing, CRTS, CCFL, and much, much more examples. If Apple were using the CDMA equivalent of tech today, we'd still have Macs with IDE (PATA) connectors, we'd still have CRT monitors, we'd still be CCFL backlit, we'd still have some Macs with Floppys.

Yes, thats primarily the problem. You WANT the iPhone. Do you NEED the iPhone? NO. How about you stop complaining about the coverage and get a carrier that works for you in your area. Don't bring up the argument about how the phone should be on every network. You know what...that's life, get over it! Btw, stop saying Apple is screwing y'all over...you're screwing yourself over by staying with a provider that doesn't work for you in your area.
