I just initiated an advanced replacement for my 27" i7 last Friday (Jan. 8) evening due to a bad Super Drive. Apple.com is now showing a ship date of Jan. 25, and this is after my order was "placed at the front of the line" according to the manager from online sales that I've been working with. He claims there's "something holding up production currently."

8th and 25th for me too. Hopefully the delay is to fix all the issues.

Update concerning shipping

I received my machine this past friday. I was away on vacation until yesturday. The machine looked okay at first, but after moving the windows around in safari I caught sight of the yellow tinge. Not as bad as some posted but I had to wait 2 weeks for this. I got off the phone with higher level person at apple. They want my machine back. He said the engineers at apple want to see the machine to determine whats causing the problem. Apparently they thought it was fixed. I told them I'd like to keep the machine and swap it out a few months later when they resolve this problem. He told me, they cant do it. i told him why instead of sending out the machines dont they check them out thoroughly. He said this yellow tinging sometimes occurs after the machine is on a while. I told him this isnt looking very good for apple and they should cease all shipments of the imac 27 i5 and i7 until they resolve this problem.

The status on my account still states shipping scheduled for the 14th but not yet shipped, this is odd..

On another note, what is that cool calendar window in the post above?

I know this is OT, but the calendar window is from iStat Menus. It's free and awesome. The menu is from the Date and Time section.

OOOOPS... My bad. Thank you! :D
I gotta kill time while I'm waiting for Apple to let me know what's going on...

yea mines been delayed too + i live in Australia.

I ordered mine last month Dec 29th. The delivery date on the invoice says Jan 25th but that's probably an estimate.....

I'm assuming Apples halted all production on 27" iMac until they fix the graphic issue.

Had to go to a direct Mac store as 3rd party retailers said there were pretty much out of stock.

Hoping they'll fix it by then before they ship out my iMac!

I ordered my i7 on 28/12. It was supposed to ship 2 days ago ( 13/01 ) but it has now been delayed for 7 business days with expected delivery to be 27th - 29th January. ( I'm in Sydney Australia and ordered through apple on campus ).

This is major BS!
I finally found out my shipment date got delayed by 2 weeks (in Boston, MA) and I tried to cancel the order online since I have plenty of time without paying for the fast shipping... but I'm not allowed!
I have to call the number to cancel the order. WTF???
Now the fun starts!!

I'm a 6th (ordered), 20th (shipping), 28th (delivery) and to be honest if it comes to me delayed but with no problems i'd be happier.
Obviously i'd like it ASAP but the thoughts of getting a faulty machine (whatever problem) and waiting a week or two to get the replacement would do my head-in more so.
Fingers cross the delay isnt too long and that problems have been sorted.
Best of luck to all.

This is not aimed at you personally but reading around the forum there are quite a few posts who are coming to the conclusion that a 1 or 2 week delay on orders means Apple are solving issues with the iMac. Maybe they are but equally maybe they've just run low on certain components (could be something as simple as the fan mounts) and are awaiting re-stock. The only reason I'm stating this is I can see that everyone will convince themselves that Apple are fixing the screen issue then two weeks later, when they receive their iMacs and there's a yellow tinge, be up in arms that it's not fixed.

FWIW my understanding is that Apple Engineers are fully aware of the "yellow peril" issue but are still collating data and sample machines to ascertain the cause - I've now been told this very recently by two separate senior agents.

Week 2 defected

Hi,

My week 2/10 iMac i7 has these:
-Flickering screen
-yellow tinge
-dead iSight pixels (atleast 3)
-noisy hard drive (Seagate 1TB).

This is already my 3rd one but Im not giving up as this could be a very good computer (when not defected that is).
According to Apple Im going to receive my replacement 3rd of February, so to me it also seems that they're having some kind of delay in their chain of delivery as the previous ones I've ordered / gotten as replacement have arrived much earlier. Ofcourse it is possible that this one will ship earlier too, they've just given me those dates as preliminary information.

We al can see this delay as a short suplly of fans, cables, glass, board's (screens), whatever. But you'll got to admit it that is a normal thing for people to think that when recieving the information of a delivery delay people think that Apple is holding back because they've encountered the problems. Just because all of this months of replacing/money back, etc, i think it's a normal and first thing to think of.

Now, it doesn't really means that's the true lol, but again it's normal that everyone likes to think so (me included :D)

a friend of mine as told me that it could even be because of the magic mouse, he tried to buy and told him that there were non. funny thing though, in december when he bought a Mac Pro if he added the magic mouse instead of the mighty mouse, the shippment would be in 5 weeks instead of 1week

really? damn! you've got lucky :p, so, and what about the machine? is it perfect? had any issues with it?

Yeah I know I got lucky, they upgraded me to the i7 for the i5's price because of the long wait so I only paid 300 dollars for the whole machine. So far its working great, and I don't see yellow anywhere. The screen is brilliant.

that's just sweet! :D congrats dude!

hope that everyone else that's waiting, get's one just like that.

What would be even better was if they also did the upgrade to the i7, who asked the i5 lolol :D

Just my 2¢

Ordered a 27" iMac on 3 Jan. supposed to ship 19 Jan. Just got an order acknowledgement yesterday. I didn't notice I never received one before now since I also ordered the new remote and I received invoices and shipment notifications on that.

Plus I've been checking order status on the site a LOT and my ship date has remained the same.

Beginning to be strange, with so many requests at the same time or later and have not received any notification of change of date.

What could it be the reason?

There is most definitely a delay.

Not one person has received a shipment lately.

No one has a week 3. Something is going on.

Well, no one who has been bothered to post on this forum.

Something is going on.

You guys are reading far too much into this - we all want the issues resolved but don't put 2+2 together and get an answer of 5. It really could be anything causing a delay. Great if they are doing something to correct production / design errors, however I really wouldn't get your hopes up.

i've read in some other thread that most of the people who got a perfect iMac didn't bother rushing to the forums saying how perfect they where, instead, they where enjoying it....

So?

That's exactly what is happening :D eheheh

x2

but the downside for me is, school starts the 18th and mine doesn't deliver till the 26th

I've just got off the phone to Apple because i was annoyed when i found out i would have to wait another 2 weeks before its shipped (originally ordered on the 28th(27")) and have just asked him is it to do with the problem with the screens and he confirmed that there was a problem with the screens and that they have just put everyones orders back by another 1-3 weeks, but also there is a part shortage but he could not tell me what part that is. He also stated there could possibly another wait ontop of the wait we are currently having.

I think were just going to have to wait it out, but mind you, they're gunna be a great when we get them.

I was told by a studio engineer that he'd heard the delay is actually because of the new Macbook Pros and that resources have been diverted to ensure there are enough basic models for demand at launch in a couple of weeks.

LOL!!
:D

Happening in China in this very moment:
"Workers! Stop building iMacs! Everybody to the MBP assembly belt NOW!!! We are gonna get smashed!!!!!" :D

Yea but it is more like

At the Apple MBP manufacturing plant...

Hey, let's make sure that the first batch of new MBPs have gone through the same rigorous testing that we did for these Imacs.

Look how busy we are. We can't make them fast enough.

They are so popular that they ship to the same addresses 4 or five times each.

Meanwhile in the refurbished division of apple...

Man we have have never been this busy before. This is job security.

You are SOOOOO funny!!
BTW, we haven't heard for a while how sick you get from Apple etc.
If you do not like Apple and their products, I'd suggest to just NOT buy them and spam some PC forum, instead.
What do you think, good idea?
Bye and have fun, I am not gonna miss you.

read his posts, he is a fan of Apple products just not of Apple Inc. with this particular issue/episode.

Not that hard to understand unless you are a rabid and irrational fanboy.
