Hi I got an option to install flash and I did so. Can I ask what the implications of this are? I have a 2012 macbook pro. Kind regards, Susan.

There aren't any implications. It's just a very buggy piece of software. I use it every day just fine, but it is a resource hog.

Yes.
I used to use Firefox, but one day for no reason I moved over to Safari 5. Now on Safari 6 I'm all good with it. So I think I'll stick with it.

And Chrome?
I'll never use that. Because after reading Google security statements, I don't feel safe using Chrome. I have 4 different browsers in my dock. Just if Safari fails on a page. But none of those are Chrome. And if Google never fixes their security statements to something more reasonable Chrome will never make it's way onto my dock, or my iMac for that matter.

Safari 6 brought me back from chrome. The biggest thing I wanted about Chrome was the unified address/search bar. When iOS 6 comes out, synced tabs will be a big deal for me. So I'm enjoying Safari now, and will for a while.

What exactly are the pros of safari over chrome again?

I decided to give safari a 2nd chance after mountain lion, and these are my biggest bugbears to date.

1) Youtube videos seem to play more slowly, and have problems resizing them to full-screen properly. Seems like google is either favouring their own browser, or deliberating screwing safari over.

2) When I enlarge text in chrome, the page's contents automatically rearrange themselves to fit within the confines of the page. But for Safari, the whole page expands (often beyond the page), so I still have to scroll left and right to read everything.

3) When I download files, the process seems to result in weird leftover files which I need to remove manually.

4) It doesn't seem any faster or smoother than chrome.

Update: Issues 1 and 2 just disappeared somehow. Weird.

On the plus side however, I am liking the keyboard shortcuts.

Not saving tabs for me and twice it has changed the size of the window forcing me to delete the one pref file I found.

Safari 6 has not won me over - if anything it's driven me further away. I do still use it for the rare occasion that Firefox can't handle. I refuse to use Chrome on the Mac (but have no such objections on Windows) because of one giant FAIL on Google's part - they don't provide any way to properly clean up all the stuff Chrome installs along with the application itself, in order to keep itself and other Google applications up to date (Keystone, I'm looking at YOU) on the Mac platform.

I'm still sold on it. I really dig the sharing features and the direct integration with attention to detail regarding gestures. While Safari isn't perfect just yet, I wouldn't abandon the new social features just yet for old revisions of Safari or any other browser for that matter.

This coming from someone who uses Google Chrome regularly in a Windows environment.

I'm a Chrome user on Windows myself, but since I have neither a trackpad nor a Magic Mouse (I use a more traditional 2-button mouse instead), I was completely unaware of gesture support in ANY Mac browser. That is good to know in case I ever find myself in a situation where I am able to take advantage of it. Thanks for sharing :)

I can't use safari as my main browser, since the fans usually go crazy while using one tab open on wordpress.
I wish this didn't happen though, since I like the interface, sharing and gestures.

It has not won me over, I still prefer to use either Chrome or Firefox. May use it and try it out a little more, though.

It would be my browser of choice if it had tabs on top. As it is, I am only using it as my main browser at the moment because it is the smoothest and fastest freaking browser on my rmbp.

Otherwise it would be Chrome.

I remember Apple was first to do tabs on top with safari then they changed it and i, along with a lot of others were devastated. These days I kinda like tabs on bottom but that is probably because I am used to it and it has more continuity with the rest of os x.
