The day after release, I flew from Edinburgh to London - I took a picture of the sunset and the guy sat next to me asked if it was the new iPhone and what was it like.

Other than that, nothing. But then again, I haven't exactly been showing it off in public.

I'm pretty sure everyone reading the original post imagined it like this:

This is perfect.

I was with few people and this random stranger asked me the similar question and i said yes. My friends surrounded this person in case there was some funny business.

But isn't waving the phone in everyones face exactly how you demonstrate the amazing abilities of the phone that you have and nobody else does? :(

Seriously though. It really is an odd story considering the age we live in now. People are amazed at photos? Taking random selfies? Gorgeous women are doing parkour over fences just to chase down and befriend that guy because he has a new phone?

Unfortunately "Hot Girls" was poor wording. He actually meant normal girls that were just a bit sweaty.

You had me at "parkour over fences"... :D.

McDonald’s worker taking my order noticed I had an X with Apple Pay. He asked to see it. That’s about it. I don’t know that just during general use anyone would even noticed I have an X to be honest.

This must be an American thing surely?

British people are rude and generally don’t give a toss what phone you use. I’d find it pretty awkward if somebody I didn’t know started talking to me about my phone.

Happened a lot in Japan. often questions about Apple Watch or airPods. but Japan is very brand conscious

I try not to draw attention to myself so like all my phones, it will go into a case immediately after I get it. If it looks like any other phone in a case, most don’t bother to ask questions..

hmm.. i don't really think it's an American thing.

or- i've had the X since launch.. i use it in public sometimes.
nobody ever came up to me to ask about it.

so, i'm in the US and it hasn't happened so probably not an American thing.

Some guys at work were talking about the X. I responded to some of their questions and they asked why I know so much about it. I took it out of my pocket and everyone, much to my embarrassment, got very excited.

I go to NightClubs now a days and go up to the ladies with my naked iPhone X and take a selfie with them. Each one of them tell me "OMG is than an iPhone X, take me home omg. omg Face ID I gotta bring my friend over for a three way."

Having dinner at our favorite sushi joint one of the chefs asks if that’s an iPhone 8 Plus in Space Gray with the Apple Leather Case in Saddle Tan? Damn straight I say. He says we are some of his favorite customers and the phone blows his mind....what are we doing this Thursday..do we want tickets to the Lakers. Damn straight we do. Of course we go and take amazing shots with the stellar camera on the 8 Plus.

..actually all true except the phone part.

It’s awesome when

So I can’t use MY phone in public ? That’s when I get approached. I’m from Boston where people out here are generally friendly and techies. So of course they are going to approach someone who is standing in line at Starbucks waiting for their coffee.

Sorry that I am approachable ?

Keep flaunting your expensive new gizmo until the inevitable.

At the grocery store last night I had a brain freeze at the register and muscle memory went back to the old Apple Pay behavior.

Upon realizing my mistake and that I hadn’t authenticated properly, I pushed the button on the side twice, held the phone up to my face, and after a pause it unlocked and I put the phone back down atop the terminal to pay.

When I apologized to the cashier for the slight delay and told her what happened, the woman behind me said “I thought you were taking a selfie at the checkout counter and I thought to myself why would anyone do that?”

LOL
