After ages of lugging around a tripod, without seeing good HDR opportunities, I took this one at my U. Three pics, F10, various shutter speeds.

decided to post in the hdr thread instead of the photo a day one. its 3 hand held raw images into photomatix and then photoshop.

Some recent HDRs from my photoblog --

1) Stafford Kansas (multiple RAWs as source images)

2) The state of suburban American retailing (multiple RAWs)

3) Red Carpet Dog - 1 RAW source image

4) My cousin and his daughter after the Easter Egg hunt, Stafford Kansas. (One handheld RAW)

5) Cinco de Mayo fest (One handheld RAW) ... I have mixed feelings about this photo. Some things I really like and other things that rather bother me. But here it is anyway.

6) Tone mapped people into HDR, and used some exposure blending in Photomatix, layered the two in photoshop, used eraser tool to get the people to look more natural. Among other changes made to the image. (AIDS Walk Kansas City, two weekends ago).

Well done. It doesn't scream HDR at me, which I like. Plus, it's a scene that probably does actually require HDR. It seems a bit underexposed in the buildings, but other than that, I like it (well, if I'm picking nits, I would have brought the horizon down to the bottom third of the shot, to get more of the nice sky in the shot in place of the fairly boring water).

Nice!

Very Nice. I would like to see the properly exposed pic teaked with Topaz Adjust and compair the two. Just curious, not saying one would be better than the other. If you are interested, send me a P.M. and I would be happy to try it and send the image back to you for review.

Good job Captain Zero, especially since this your first HDR, hmm, it has been awhile since I do a HDR, maybe I should do a few HDRs.

Joshboy, how the heck is there a Proton Satria GTi in Australia? Xd

Thanks for the positive comments. I really appreciate the feedback.

Edit: here are the three files, iTiki

This is img37 using one of the presets and a few minor tweaks using Topaz Adjust. I have only had the program less than a week, so I'm sure others with more experience could do a much better job. Let me know what you think...

Proton dealers at the time in Darling Harbor in Sydney
We have GTI's in Australia, I bought that from one of the only proton dealers at the time, however it was let go last year to make room for the new car :D

My new D40 should be here Wed. I'm hoping I can do some of these HDR shots, I'm sure I have a lot to learn before then, but these things are super cool, I love them!

Thank you for taking the time and attention to edit the image, but the site you're hosting on isn't allowing hotlinking, or is restricted in some other way.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you did, I'm sure it's an improvement.

Shots from a excursion to South Dakota. Neither required HDR but the tone mapping brought out detail from these very simple and flat images.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but the image in my (this) post is the edited version of your properly exposed, single image, using Topaz Adjust. After reposting your image, I removed it from my Zenfolio site because I thought it best not to have someone else's work (as nice as it is) not mixed with my images. I did not want someone to give me credit for your work. If you compair the image I posted here to your HDR, you will see the difference between the two.
