The Internet is rife with ones mans' definition of innovation is another mans' meh.
Pretty sure none of Apple's customers felt the iPhone or iPad were meh.Of course this was during the Jobs Era when Apple wasn't trying to suck up to China every second or be fashionable and were actually trying to innovate, not reinventing what competitors already did

I had an iPhone during the Jobs era and it was meh and an Android phone before that one and it was meh. The last phone I had that I really liked was a BB 8830

Although something to be noted. It's not fair comparing Steve jobs with Tim Cook. Jobs was a marketing and sales genius where as Tim is a product guy. Their vision and thought process are different. It's a huge job filling in Jobs's shoes and I'd say Tim is doing just fine after a good 5 years since Jobs left.

The phones I loved are an iPhone 6 on iOS 8.4.1 and a Lumia 930(I love Windows Phone btw)

I have to say that you're minority.

The original quote one of the few things I agree with @I7guy about. We all have things we like and dislike and we all have a different interpretation of "innovation" an if you mix that with inherent biases you have contention.

I don't like Android I use Android because it's the only HW that allows me to format and start again doing things the way I want. The compromise of the iPhone is just a bridge to far for me but I understand that it's not for many or perhaps most and that's OK too.

There is much effort expended on the this forum to prove that one is better so we end up spending a great deal of time talking at each other with our shields up which is mostly unproductive. @I7guy and @Radon87000 are just two sides of the same coin.

It's a community driven forum and it's going to happen and I do have an option not to participate but I wish the Apple v pickaphone would taper down a bit again

I have made a separate topic about it but just to reiterate here, I could never fall in love with the design of iPhone 6. The iPhone 5 design was the best for me. Didn't need a stand or anything to prop it up & I missed that a lot since getting the 6.

LG G3 Beat and its 13-month old battery...

Mostly Wi-Fi on Opera Mini and achieved 10 hrs SOT with 10% still left. RAM left hovers near 300 MB. But I had to go to the Disable Service app and turn off random things started by Google Play Services and also turned off everything from the Play Store app since I only sideload my apps anyway and can't download apps anymore with KitKat.

LG literally is going to "beat" my old iPhone 4 and Xiaomi Mi 3 which both achieved about 10 hrs and 20-30 min. Best battery life and also removable. To me, I know some people don't care at all about removable battery after the brainwashing from Apple. But I like to keep certain areas old school. I want to control my fate with MY device. Not depend on a company for their fix. I prefer manual mode.

Still at 9% as I type this on my LG and SOT is 10 hrs and 11 min. Should cross 11 hrs easily. Wished I got the ZTE Zmax 2 over the Moto E 4G. Removable battery ftw!

I don't know who felt what, these forums are big and lots of rational and irrational opinions abound; there's room for all.

As your post proves, a definition of innovation is still not understood by some.

An innovation doesn't necessarily mean a brand new technology. That doesn't happen too often. Improvements on existing systems are still considered as innovation.

So the phone and OS you loved isn't actually even close to being from the "Jobs Era". Interesting juxtaposition there between those comments.

So what is the definition of innovation according to you?

Apple was at its best in the Jobs era because every release was nowhere near as laggy or full of bugs/bricking devices like the latest iOS releases.iOS 8.4.1 is the best for me because it was the last release optimised for iPhone 6.iOS 9.3.2 is the last optimised release for iPhone 6s as Apple turns its attention to iPhone 7

TLDR:Every release in Jobs era had quality similar to 8.4.1

That is some rather rosy and imaginatively hyperbolic recollection of the past (in particular for someone who hasn't really dealt with iPhones until iOS 8, as I recall).

How many iPhones or iPads were bricked by iOS updates under Jobs?In contrast there were multiple versions of iOS 9 which were bricking devices

Nice deflection, going from innovation to how many phones are bricked under each CEO. That's certainly germane to: "not adjusting to android".

Innovation is a twist on an existing idea that adds value.

Very true, there was also the update that killed off service.

Can you imagine what Jobs would have done? I think he would of fired the whole team behind the update.

Jobs is DEAD. Nobody has any idea of what he would have done or how he would reacted. Otoh if TC was CEO for iOS 6 or iPhone 4 maybe Apple maps or "you're holding it wrong" wouldn't have happened.

Couldn't agree more with this comment. It's been 5 years since the man is dead. Stop bringing him up in every conversation. As a company Apple is doing just fine. Apple share prices are actually higher than Google. Does that mean Google is doing poorer?! Some people...!!

I think SJ set a tone of excellence that you just don't see now. Not that SJ was perfect or anything like that but he had an attention to detail that is just not there right now.
Then his rants and demand for perfection from his teams are things of legend. His methods were questionable for sure but he got results.

Can you guys please cut the **** and quit the non-stop bickering? You've already caused a pair of other threads to be locked down and at your current rate, this one won't be far behind. Lately reading much of this sub-forum is worse than listening to my elementary age children go at each other.

Keep it constructive and civil or simply just shut the **** up!

Yeah, they weren't bricked. We still can't even get passed the pointless unnecessary hyperbole. That said, pretty sure there was an update or two back in either the early iOS or iPhone OS days that caused some similarly bad things from what I recall.
